13 Shows That Need to End… Right Now!

These shows were great at one point.  But nowadays they're just circling the drain, preventing the inevitable.  They should be put out of their misery before they are remembered as some of the worst shows around.  SORRY NOT SORRY.  1. Grey’s Anatomy The series is entering a record-breaking 16th season at ABC, and despite a few good episodes, the series is starting to circle the drain. Ratings are starting to reflect the quality of the show, and it’s not in a good place creatively. It would be wise to bring the show to a close and allow the cast to move on to new projects. 2. Riverdale Riverdale started off well, with a coherent murder mystery. By the time Season 3 arrived, there were floating babies, teenagers running nightclubs, and underground boxing fights. It’s turned into a laughing stock and needs to end. 3. Arrow Arrow should not even be getting a short final season to wrap the story up. The writing has been abysmal on the show for around four years, and the ratings are dropping like a rock. The show could be wrapped up in a throwaway scene on one of the spinoffs. 4. Fear the Walking Dead As if killing off most of the original cast was not bad enough, the fifth season put the characters in a radiation-filled wasteland, and they made some more bad decisions. The scenes drag on for dear life as a result of the pitiful dialog. It’s time to go go. 5. Suits Suits has been circling the drain for years, to the point that nobody would care if USA Network decided to ditch the final season entirely. Nothing worth noting has happened since Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams ditched it. 6. How to Get Away with Murder This convoluted series which follows essentially the same format every single season should have been a one-season thing. The most recent fifth season was not only embarrassing to watch, but it proved the characters are getting dumber with age. View Slideshow

Lashana Lynch Will Make History As The First Black Woman To Take On 007 Role In New James Bond Film

Source: Slaven Vlasic / Getty On Tuesday it was announced that Lashana Lynch would take the reign as the new 007 as Daniel Craig is now passing the torch along. It was reported by British Tabloid Daily Mail that 007 would be experiencing a radical makeover in the form of 31-year-old black women and making history. For years now it has been speculated that Daniel Craig’s last time on screen as James Bond would be in 2020 with the released of Bond 25, (this is not the official name, just the temporary name to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the British Secret Service Agent.) According to the report, the upcoming,  film will reveal Lynch as the new 007 with Craig’s character coming out of retirement to team up with her for one last mission. The James Bond series has spanned over 60 years, with the first movie coming out in 1962, featuring Sean Connery. Through the years the show has developed a very loyal and protective fan base. In the series’ existence, six different characters have served as James Bond, all six have been white men. Back in 2014, it was reported by many outlets that Idris Elba would take over as the new James Bond, that upset many of the 007 fan base.o “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman,” a “movie insider” told the tabloid. “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond, but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.” Then in April of 2018 Elba came out and squashed those rumors stating that he is not interested in the position, saying “You’re THAT character, and known as that character for many, many years.” “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman,” a “movie insider” told the outlet. “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond, but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.” The movie is written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is also a newcomer to the Bond series. The movie currently has a release date of April 8, 2020.

Source: 2K / Visual Concepts The basketballs have stopped bouncing in NBA arenas for now, but the folks at 2K and Visual Concepts are hard at work on the upcoming installment in the super-popular NBA 2K franchise. The studio announced at the beginning of the month that Anthony Davis and Dwyane Wade are the game’s next cover athletes. Tonight we will find out what superstars ratings in the basketball simulator will look like. The fun begins 8 PM ET/5 PM PT when Anthony Davis alongside NBA 2K developers will unveil the ratings for the “most anticipated” superstars in NBA 2K20 from Twitter’s San Francisco main headquarters. Joining the Los Angeles Lakers latest acquisition will be Ronnie2K,  Alexis Morgan, and Chris Manning. Fans are encouraged to join in on the conversation by using the hashtag #2KRatings, where they voice their approval or disapproval of their favorite NBA players overall rating in the game. Kyle Kuzma took his anger to Twitter to voice his displeasure about being rated 78 in NBA2K19 while Ben Simmons was not too pleased about receiving an 87 overall rating in the game. No disrespect that is pretty high for a guy in the league who doesn’t have a jump shot…yet. 2k rating is disrespectful. Game of Thrones Series Finale DESTROYS Ratings Records!

If you’ve spent any time at all on the internet in the past 48 hours, then you’re probably aware that the series finale of Game of Thrones drew a decidedly … mixed reaction from viewers. But while many fans may not have been enthralled by the beloved series’ final installment — or its final season , for that matter — they tuned in from all corners of the world in record numbers. According to The Hollywood Reporter , an astonishing 13.6 million viewers watched the debut airing of the Thrones finale. Replays and early streaming bring that number to 19.4 million (and growing). Both numbers are records not only for GoT, but for HBO and premium cable in general. And it should come as no surprise that the record broken on Sunday night also belonged to Game of Thrones . The show’s penultimate episode also posted jaw-dropping numbers, drawing 12.5 million catching the first-run, and a total of 18.4 million tuning in over the course of the first night. Of course, for those involved in Thrones ‘ final season — from showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff all the way down to the lowliest charred peasant in King’s Landing — joy over this unprecedented ratings triumph is likely tempered by the negative response to the show’s conclusion. Here’s a number that HBO top brass probably won’t be shouting from the rooftops anytime soon: 48 percent. That’s the score for the GoT finale on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. Execs at the major networks wouldn’t lose much sleep over a show that drew in a record audience but received negative reviews from most critics. However, HBO is not CBS. The network’s bottom line is mostly reliant on subscriptions, which means its reputation is almost as important as the number of people tuning in for its original programming. Viewers shell out for HBO’s substantial monthly fee (It’s costlier than Netflix or Hulu in most markets.) because they feel the network offers quality programming they can’t get anywhere else There was always a fear among execs that the end of the war in Westeros would mean a substantial drop in subscriptions. The fact that so many viewers are feeling burned (pun fully intended) by the final season of HBO’s flagship show does not bode well for the network’s future, particularly as it gears up for competition from the highly-anticipated Disney Plus. In all likelihood, HBO will always be around in some form or another — but then again, they said that about the Iron Throne, too. Teen Mom OG Renewed For Another Season: Who Almost Got Fired?

Well, it's official. Despite a ratings free fall that really became worrisome after Farrah Abraham got fired from the show, Teen Mom OG will be returning to MTV for an eighth season. The Ashley's Reality Roundup confirms that the network reached a deal with the show's stars after an unusually lengthy round of negotiations. Perhaps Amber Portwood and company are unaware of the desperate ratings situation. Someone may want to inform them that if the opportunity to re-sign again next year should arise, they probably don't want to push their luck. Check out all the details on the surprise renewal and the tense negotiations below: 1. The OGs Are Back! While the addition of Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd didn’t prove to be the ratings boon producers had hoped (and served to make the “OG” title wildly inappropriate) the controversial series will be returning to MTV later this year. 2. Finally! “Everyone has finally signed their contracts, and things are up and running,” a source close to the situation tells The Ashley. 3. Tense Negotiations Yes, the entire cast is returning, which is surprising for a number of reasons. 4. Cutting Costs For one thing, as we mentioned, Bristol and Cheyenne failed to boost ratings, so many assumed they would be cut from the cast if the show returned for another season. 5. Expensive Talent Bristol, in particular, was rumored to be on the chopping block, as she got paid more than any of the other moms in her first season. 6. Another Go But both she and Cheyenne will get at least one more season on the once-wildly popular series. And they’re not the only ones whose returns were in doubt. View Slideshow

Teen Mom Young & Pregnant: NOT Canceled! Actually Coming Back For Another Season!

Did you watch the first season of Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant ? If not, you’re certainly not alone. Like Bristol Palin, Young & Pregnant didn’t turn out to be the ratings juggernaut the Teen Mom franchise is so desperately seeking these days. Despite the fact that the show failed to take off in the same way as its predecessors, it apparently attracted a large enough audience to warrant a second chance. The Ashley’s Reality Roundup is reporting today that Young & Pregnant has officially been renewed for a second season. “The people behind the scenes of the show got notice in late November that MTV was giving [ Young & Pregnant ] another season,” a source tells The Ashley. “They were supposed to start filming in January, but they started early. Most of the girls have been filming for Season 2 since mid-December.” There were rumors of Young and Pregnant being renewed over the summer, but apparently, MTV didn’t reach the decision to order more episodes until November. Now, for contractual reasons, Season 2 isn’t really Season 2, but Season 1B. It’s a clever workaround that MTV and Viacom use to avoid having to renegotiate contracts every year. But despite the fact that they didn’t get a chance to hold out for more money, all of the moms will be returning for Teen Mom Young & Pregnant Season 1B. (You know a franchise has been around for a long time when it starts delivering mouthful titles like that one.) Ashley Jones, Lexi Tatman, Brianna Jaramillo, Jade Cline and Kayla Sessler are all currently filming. If there was a standout in season 1A, it was likely Jones, whose feud with Farrah Abraham made her a fan favorite on Instagram. (Of course, that only happened after Jones befriended Farrah, which made her quite unpopular for a time.) Rumors that Young & Pregnant had been canceled began to circulate back in November. These were the result not only of ratings that started out low and declined throughout the season, but also of a cryptic Instagram post from Jones that seemed to indicate the show had come to an end. “Well ladies, here goes my heartfelt post about what an honor its been to be apart of a TV show with you girls,” Ashley wrote. “So grateful that our cast is full of love and understanding, and when times get hard we all reach out…It’s been a long emotional journey. But that’s a wrap. Wouldn’t have done it any other way.” So either she was mistaken or MTV execs had a change of heart. Either way, get ready for more Young & Pregnant (if you’re among the very few who watched the first season, that is). Farrah Abraham Gets Roasted on New Reality Show; Viewers Rejoice

If you’re a Teen Mom OG fan, then you’re probably aware that Farrah Abraham was finally fired from the show last year. For many, that news was bittersweet, as Farrah was the absolute worst and she deserved to be fired, but she was also damn entertaining at times. We hate to admit she was right, but just as Farrah predicted, Teen Mom OG ratings have declined steadily in the months since she was fired. And, as the Backdoor Teen Mom foretold, numerous opportunists have stepped in to cash in on her infamy. Of course, she’s still Farrah, so for the most part, she’s been screwing them over and making them rue the day they met her.  First, Farrah backed out of a celebrity boxing match at the last minute, costing everyone involved a great deal of money. Now, Farrah is back on MTV thanks to a floundering project called Ex on the Beach. The show brought Farrah in for its second season hoping she would create drama and thus attract viewers. Unfortunately, based on early buzz about the show, it seems that Farrah may only deliver on half of that promise. It seems Farrah has been doing what she always does — lying, crying, and generally making life miserable for everyone involved. Despite all of that, however, Beach  may once again fail to make a splash with viewers. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be highlights. Take the season premiere, for example, in which Farrah gets roasted to a crisp by housemate Cheyenne Parker. “Out of everyone in the house, Farrah’s just been standoffish and her attitude sucks. I don’t tolerate attitude or diva syndrome,” Parker said. “As far as celebrity status goes, Farrah thinks she’s over here on the A-list, but baby, I gotta tell you something, D-list for you,” he added. Now, both those statements are just objective facts, but Farrah being Farrah, she flipped the eff out and screamed at Parker that he’s a “piece of sh-t.” Unfortunately, Parker then took a step too far by dragging Farrah’s child into it. “I didn’t have to give birth to somebody to fucking make ratings,” he said, to the chagrin of the other housemates. At that point, Farrah turned on the crocodile tears and sulked off to bed. So basically it’s the same Farrah that TMOG fans have been seeing for the past decade. Ratings seem to indicate she was missed, but will viewers tune in for Farrah on Ex on the Beach? Our guess is that ship has sailed. But who knows? Maybe if the show delivers on this “people screaming insults at Farrah” motif, it may find an audience. Ex on the Beach premieres on MTV on December 20. View Slideshow: Farrah Abraham: EEK! Megyn Kelly is Out at NBC, Will Be Replaced by … Kelly Clarkson?!?!

This week, Megyn Kelly finally realized that blackface is not okay. NBC finally realized that Megyn Kelly isn’t okay , either. But who will replace her? A stunning report says that NBC has already approached Kelly Clarkson to take on the role. According to numerous reports, Megyn Kelly met with NBC higher ups on Friday morning to negotiate her departure from the network. RadarOnline reports that NBC is eyeing a familiar, less controversial face to replace her: Kelly Clarkson. According to an insider, executives “think it might be perfect time to give her Today time slot to Kelly [Clarkson].” The source explains that she is a star “who has a huge fan base and is extremely well-liked and relatable.” And as an added bonus, they’re both blonde women with Kelly in their names, so maybe some viewers won’t even notice. One of Megyn’s reported troubles at the network wasn’t about bad ratings or a flagrant, tone-deaf defense of racism. It’s been said that she just hasn’t been getting along with the other big names at the network or really fitting in. In contrast, an insider says, the NBC crew “love” Kelly Clarkson. Kelly already “is a huge part of the NBC family,” a source says, because of her role as a judge on The Voice . This could mean that everything, from contract negotiations to her interactions with colleagues, could go more smoothly. Whether you think this is a good idea or a step in the wrong direction, it sounds like things are already in motion. An insider shares that NBC has already “approached” Kelly Clarkson about taking on this new role. (We should note that it’s possible that this person is misinformed, because of another upcoming project of hers, but we’ll get to that) She, an insider notes, is “willing to take on any job thrown her way.” Hey, we’re all out getting this bread. The stars are the same. There’s an obvious perk of hiring Kelly Clarkson. “Kelly is the most non-biased person on the planet,” an insider points out. Or, at the very least, she’s a nice person, the source notes, “and does not have an ounce of racism in her.” It’s true that Kelly is not really the type of person to slam people or drag their names through the mud. Off of the top of our heads, the only person we can think of whom she’s ever spoken ill of is disgraced music producer Dr. Luke. And, honestly, who hasn’t spoken ill of that creep? We cannot confirm that NBC is looking at Kelly Clarkson for this role. For one thing, she’s … not a news anchor. She can clearly do more than sing, though. And The Kelly Clarkson Show is already a thing that begins airing on NBC next year. After this debacle, we imagine that NBC wants to let Kelly Clarkson do her own show before the give her one of the biggest platforms on network television. We’re sure that she’ll be an amazing host, but NBC will probably want the ratings to prove it before they boost her to Today , right? At the end of the day, despite her long and controversial history, Megyn Kelly isn’t really being given the boot over being racist. Her defense of blackface was the straw that broke the camel’s back at most. More like, it was just an excuse. She was the highest paid anchor on television, but her ratings didn’t reflect that at all. Many have taken to social media to point out that NBC is probably just seizing this opportunity to give her the boot because she’s bad at her job. In case you are, for some reason, feeling sorry for her, don’t. She’s already made a lot of money, she’ll probably get more when she leaves, and she’ll almost certainly get yet another chance at some other network. Megyn Kelly is Out at NBC, Will Be Replaced by … Kelly Clarkson?!?!

Megyn Kelly Gets Roasted by NBC Colleagues for Racist Comments

Megyn Kelly just reminded the world that she doesn't know how to google the answers to simple questions. Instead, she asks them on live television. After a massive backlash,  Megyn is super sorry about defending blackface  and seems to actually understand the topic. But despite her apology, it looks like she's still not off the hook — even with her own colleagues at NBC. News anchors are supposed to report and discuss the news. In general, they really should not be  making  the news. But that's what Megyn did, in the worst way, when she  defended blackface Halloween costumes  in a discussion with an all-white panel. She has apologized and explained how the backlash opened her eyes, and NBC's Today had a group of her own collegues discuss the controersy. Morgan Radford participated in the discussion along with Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Craig Melvin. Al Roker says that her internal email is not a sufficient way of saying that she's sorry. “The fact is,” Roker says. “While she apologized to the staff, she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country.” Roker explains how, as a black man, this is very personal to him. “This is history going back to the 1830s minstrel shows to demean and to denigrate a race,” Roker says. “It was not right.” “I am old enough to have lived through Amos ‘n’ Andy, where you had people in blackface playing two black characters, magnifying the worst stereotypes about black men.” He refers to nightmarish caricatures of black men, performed by white men, that were used as weapons to ridicule real black people. “And that,” he explains. “Is what the problem is. That is what the issue is.” Craig Melvin doesn't mince words when he talks about Megyn's segment. He calls her defense of blackface both “stupid” and “indenfensible.” There are people in this world who might understandably not realize the historical implications of blackface. A millionaire television anchor who can and should read up on any controversial topics that she plans to address on television has no such excuse. Melvin also points out the fact that Jim Crow laws are named for a blackface minstrel character, a fact we mentioned recently when  discussing whiteface . Despite reports of an alleged feud, Savannah Guthrie clearly felt uneasy about throwing a colleague under the bus. “It is uncomfortable, obviously,” Guthrie says. “Because Megyn is a colleague at NBC News.” But it is that working relationship that made it so vital for NBC to have a panel discuss Megyn's controversial remarks. For the public, it's about education and illumination of an important topic. For NBC, and we don't mean to sound cynical, it's about making it clear that the organization as a whole does not defend blackface. Roker and Melvin both made excellent points, which you can see and hear in the video that we've attached. But it was Morgan Radford who arguably put the best spin on this situation. She acknowledged the historical weight of blackface while also presenting Megyn's words as a “learning moment.” Megyn, Radford says, “really gifted us the opportunity to have this conversation and a public discourse.” “We now have the courage and we have the platform to have conversations like this,” Radford notes. She says that these talks are important “even when they’re uncomfortable because we can see they’re still necessary.” It probably does not help that Megyn Kelly has a history of making wildly controversial remarks about race. She made these comments primarily while working at Fox News, where white nationalists like Tucker Carlson thrive. Megyn may be best known for having claimed that Santa Claus, a fictional character based upon a Turkish man, is white. As if she had met him. She also claimed that Jesus, a Middle Eastern Jewish man, was a white man. Her suggestion that blackface was acceptable when she was growing up — in the 1970s — dredged all of that back up. But, as we said, Megyn did apologize, first in an email to colleagues and then to her viewers. “The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep,” Megyn acknowledges. “I’ve never been a ‘pc’ kind of person,” she says. “But I understand that we do need to be more sensitive in this day and age.” In general, labels like  politically correct  are useless, and hurled around by people who want to dismiss any struggles that are not their own. It appears that Megyn is learning a little more about the world. We wish that she, as the highest paid television anchor on the planet despite her ratings, would actively educate herself  before  getting backlash.
