Teen Mom OG: Facing Cancelation as Ratings Plummet!

Well, it was a good run. For the better part of a decade, the original Teen Mom (later known as Teen Mom OG) was a force to be reckoned with on the overcrowded landscape of basic cable reality shows. But all good things must come to an end, and it seems that Teen Mom OG’s time at the top is no exception. In a trend that seems to have started when Farrah Abraham was fired from the show last year, TMOG’s ratings have been in a freefall for several months. As Radar Online reports, this year’s season premiere marked the show’s smallest audience to date. And things started bad and got worse, as viewership continued to decline over the course of the season. In 2017, the show’s season premiere drew in a whopping 1.3 million. By the end of its most recent season, TMOG was attracting just over half a million viewers Compare that to the show’s spinoff, Teen Mom 2, which averaged nearly 1.2 million throughout its 2018 season. Not surprisingly, producers are scrambling to figure out a solution and restore the show to its former glory. The additions of Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd didn’t turn out to be the ratings boon that producers had hoped — but there’s still hope that tinkering with the cast will help draw in a larger audience. “There’s been talk about more airtime for certain friends and family,” a production source tells Radar Online. “Tyler Baltierra’s friend River Ceballos has been approached about filming scenes with him.” Radar reports that Levi Johnston and his wife, Sunny, will also play a larger role on the show’s upcoming season. “We’re filimg,” Sunny confirmed during a recent Instagram Q&A. The insider says producers were happy to learn that Amber Portwood will not be quitting the show , as she had previously threatened. “She had second thoughts about leaving. She now wants to stay with the MTV family and share her story,” says the insider. “Because of the fans and her 10-year history on the show, she doesn’t want to leave abruptly.” Without Farrah, Amber is the show’s number one source of drama, and losing her might have meant the end for Teen Mom OG. The producers are navigating tricky waters at this point. They hope to liven the show up with new castmates, but they have to be careful not to anger any of the existing cast with major changes. “The OGs will get a heads up on major changes and new members,” the source claims. Whatever the producers decide to do, they had better do it quickly — as it sounds like this might their last chance to turn things around. View Slideshow: Teen Mom OG: Renewed For Another Season! Teen Mom Young & Pregnant: NOT Canceled! Actually Coming Back For Another Season!

Did you watch the first season of Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant ? If not, you’re certainly not alone. Like Bristol Palin, Young & Pregnant didn’t turn out to be the ratings juggernaut the Teen Mom franchise is so desperately seeking these days. Despite the fact that the show failed to take off in the same way as its predecessors, it apparently attracted a large enough audience to warrant a second chance. The Ashley’s Reality Roundup is reporting today that Young & Pregnant has officially been renewed for a second season. “The people behind the scenes of the show got notice in late November that MTV was giving [ Young & Pregnant ] another season,” a source tells The Ashley. “They were supposed to start filming in January, but they started early. Most of the girls have been filming for Season 2 since mid-December.” There were rumors of Young and Pregnant being renewed over the summer, but apparently, MTV didn’t reach the decision to order more episodes until November. Now, for contractual reasons, Season 2 isn’t really Season 2, but Season 1B. It’s a clever workaround that MTV and Viacom use to avoid having to renegotiate contracts every year. But despite the fact that they didn’t get a chance to hold out for more money, all of the moms will be returning for Teen Mom Young & Pregnant Season 1B. (You know a franchise has been around for a long time when it starts delivering mouthful titles like that one.) Ashley Jones, Lexi Tatman, Brianna Jaramillo, Jade Cline and Kayla Sessler are all currently filming. If there was a standout in season 1A, it was likely Jones, whose feud with Farrah Abraham made her a fan favorite on Instagram. (Of course, that only happened after Jones befriended Farrah, which made her quite unpopular for a time.) Rumors that Young & Pregnant had been canceled began to circulate back in November. These were the result not only of ratings that started out low and declined throughout the season, but also of a cryptic Instagram post from Jones that seemed to indicate the show had come to an end. “Well ladies, here goes my heartfelt post about what an honor its been to be apart of a TV show with you girls,” Ashley wrote. “So grateful that our cast is full of love and understanding, and when times get hard we all reach out…It’s been a long emotional journey. But that’s a wrap. Wouldn’t have done it any other way.” So either she was mistaken or MTV execs had a change of heart. Either way, get ready for more Young & Pregnant (if you’re among the very few who watched the first season, that is). Ariana Grande Issues Statement on Attack, Suspends World Tour

We have an update on the terrorist attack that killed at least 19 people inside Manchester Arena on Monday night. As previously reported, an explosion rocked this venue shortly after Ariana Grande finished her set and thanked her fans for attending. Just as she made her way off stage, what authorities have described as a “nail bomb” was detonated, around 10:33 p.m. local time. No organization has claimed responsibility for the mass murder, while police are operating under the assumption that this was the act of a suicide bomber. He has not been identified, but it is the working assumption that the bomber is dead. The death count has also now risen to 22 individuals, with 59 other concert goers reported as wounded, 19 of them in critical condition. As a result, this is now the deadliest militant assault in Great Britain since four British Muslims killed 52 people in suicide bombings on London’s transport system in July 2005. British Prime Minister Theresa May called for an emergency Cabinet meeting Tuesday and said the explosion was being treated as an “appalling terrorist attack.” Police do believe there was just one bomber, however. Numerous survivors of the blast have shared their accounts to The BBC and other outlets, with one 19-year old explaining his experience as follows: “We ran and people were screaming around us and pushing on the stairs to go outside and people were falling down, girls were crying, and we saw these women being treated by paramedics having open wounds on their legs … “It was just chaos… It was literally just a minute after it ended, the lights came on and the bomb went off.” Said Donald Trump in a statement on the attack: I extend my deepest condolences to those so terribly injured in this terrorist attack and to the many killed and the families, so many families, of the victims. We stand in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom. So many young beautiful innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers in life. I won’t call them monsters because they would like that term. They would think that’s a great name. I will call them from now on losers because that’s what they are. They’re losers, and we’ll have more of them, but they’re losers, just remember that. This wicked ideology must be obliterated. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, meanwhile, said it “will only strengthen our resolve to…work together with our British friends against those who plan and carry out such inhumane deeds.” Grande has also issued her first statement since the fatal incident. On Twitter last night, the singer – who sources tell TMZ was “in hysterics” following the explosion – wrote a simple message that expressed her shock and grief. “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words,” Tweeted Grande. Grande had been scheduled to perform on London on Thursday night. Insiders now tell TMZ that she has suspended the entire European tour until an unspecified date, putting on hold future shows in England, Belgium, Poland, Germany and Switzerland. Adds Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun: “We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers.” In the following video, you can see attendees run for the exits after hearing the bomb go off: Ariana Grande Concert: Terrorism Strikes Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said that victims were being taken to eight hospitals and confirmed that children were among the deceased. “We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated,” he said. “We have been treating this as a terrorist incident and we believe at this stage that the attack was carried out by one man.” An investigation is underway to determine if the attacker was part of a larger plot or terrorist network. Bianca Landrau, the Boston hip-hop star known as Bia, who also performed at the show, Tweeted an update on her status yesterday, writing: “Guys we are okay!!!” And singer Victoria Monét, the opening act at the concert, said in a statement that she was safe but “heartbroken that loved ones who came to have the night of their lives ended up losing them,” adding: “I wish I could say that I am OK, but I am not. Please send all your prayers up high for Manchester.” Many other celebrities have also taken to social media to issue messages of mourning. Here is a sampling of what they’ve said: We join everyone around the globe in sending our condolences to all affected by this heinous act. We’ll continue to provide update on this terrible story as news breaks. May the victims rest in peace.

Phil Gingrey, Georgia Congressman, Explains Concept of "Legitimate Rape"

Phil Gingrey, a Republican Congressman from Georgia, has brought back up the topic of ” legitimate rape .” The term was broached by Todd Akin – a losing candidate for Congress in Missouri who drew MAJOR fire last year for saying a woman’s body “shuts down” in the face of this type of act – and Gingrey tried to defend the point yesterday at a Chamber of Commerce breakfast. “What he meant by legitimate rape was just look, someone can say I was raped: a scared-to-death 15-year-old that becomes impregnated by her boyfriend and then has to tell her parents, that’s pretty tough and might on some occasion say, ‘Hey, I was raped.’ Continued Gingrey, who has served as an OB-GYN: “That’s what he meant when he said legitimate rape versus nonlegitimate rape. I don’t find anything so horrible about that. But then he went on and said that in a situation of rape, of a legitimate rape, a woman’s body has a way of shutting down so the pregnancy would not occur. He’s partly right on that.” He is? “I’ve delivered lots of babies, and I know about these things. It is true. We tell infertile couples all the time that are having trouble conceiving because of the woman not ovulating, ‘Just relax. Drink a glass of wine. And don’t be so tense and uptight, because all that adrenaline can cause you not to ovulate.’ “So he was partially right, wasn’t he?” Well, no, for the reason that Gingrey himself then outlines: a woman doesn’t know when she is going to be raped. “But the fact that a woman may have already ovulated 12 hours before she is raped, you’re not going to prevent a pregnancy there by a woman’s body shutting anything down, because the horse has already left the barn, so to speak. And yet the media took that and tore it apart.” As you might expect, Gingrey was then forced to backtrack from what appeared to be a semi-defense of Akin’s position, releasing the following statement today: “I do not defend, nor do I stand by, the remarks made by Rep. Akin. … In my attempt to provide context as to what I presumed they meant, my position was misconstrued.” The lesson, as always: politicians are best served by not bringing up the topic of “legitimate rape.”

Britney Spears Confirms X Factor Exit

After weeks of speculation, Britney Spears has confirmed what we already knew – that she’s quitting The X Factor after her first and only season last fall. “I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season,” Brit tells ET Online in a statement, adding that Fox was informed of her decision. “I had such an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it’s time for me to get back in the studio.” “Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.” Spears is reportedly hard at work on her eighth studio album, with her manager, Adam Leber, Tweeting, “It’s a little premature to give details on album 8.” “I know a lot of you are rabid for info but @britneyspears has only had a few sessions … I will say we had an incredible session with @EsterDean and @Hit_Boy. Great start.” Can’t wait. Or blame her from bailing on that sinking ship. As for whether Spears is also going to quit Jason Trawick in 2013, it looks like she’s on the verge of dumping him as conservator if nothing else.
