Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers stopped breathing during a surgical procedure on Thursday. She was immediately rushed to the emergency room at New York’s Mt. Sinai Hospital where doctors successfully revived the 81-year-old comic. Later that same day Rivers’ condition was upgraded to stable and the E! Network (for whom Rivers has worked for several years as host of Fashion Police ), reported that Joan was expected to make a full recovery. Earlier today, Joan’s daughter Melissa reported that Rivers is “resting comfortably” and asked fans for their thoughts and prayers. Melissa has thanked fans for their support thus far and says her mother will be touched when she regains consciousness. Fans at one of Joan’s recent standup shows say that she joked about her age and health but appeared to be energetic and in good spirits. Rivers remains in a medically induced coma for the time being.
