The NFL will celebrate an epic milestone on February 7, 2016. And it will do so with an epically boring selection of halftime performers. According to Us Weekly insiders, the league has chosen Coldplay to take to the stage midway through Super Bowl 50 next year. The British rock band – which consists of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion – is an unexpected choice, considering their song catalog is not exactly filled with up-tempo jams. The magazine does add that Bruno Mars (who kicked serious booty in 2013 at the Super Bowl) will also be involved in the show in some way, shape or form; as will other “friends of the group.” Despite previous reports, neither Maroon 5 nor Taylor Swift will take part in the show. View Poll » Recent Super Bowl halftime acts have included Katy Perry, Mars, Madonna, and Beyonce, who recently collaborated with Coldplay for the song “Hymn for the Weekend.” So maybe she’ll make a cameo! Beyonce – “Hymn For The Weekend” Beyonce and good friend Chris Martin (lead singer of Coldplay) have talked up a possible collaboration for quite some time now…and fans can finally hear what they’ve come up with. Described as a “gospel-infused party jam,” the track — “Hymn for the Weekend” — is meant to Chris Martin’s desire to have a Coldplay party jam . According to Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, Bey’s piece of the puzzle not only made the song, but was the easiest component due to how great a recording artist she is. As he told E! , “[Chris] asked Beyoncé to sing on it, and she very kindly said she would. And it was amazing. She came in. She did her thing. She’s unbelievably professional. 2014 was a tumultuous year for Jennifer Lawrence’s love life. Jen started dating Chris Martin soon after his split with Gwyneth Paltrow, but she didn’t last long with the Coldplay crooner. After that, there were rumors of Lawrence dating director Gabe Polsky , and one tabloid even claimed she was “in love with” Liam Hamsworth – her co-star in all 47 Hunger Games movies. After all that, we guess it only makes sense that J-Law would keep us on our toes by spending New Year’s Eve noshing on sushi with Martin: Are they back together? It’s hard to tell, but it certainly looks like the rumors of an ugly breakup were BS. When these two first parted ways, it was widely rumored that Gwyneth had convinced Chris to drop Jen like a bad habit. But from the looks of things, she’s a habit that he just couldn’t quit. Martin drew a lot of side-eyes for opting to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with Gwinnie even though he was in a new relationship with Lawrence at the time. (You spend the holidays with your ex when you’re dating Jennifer Lawrence. It’s just not done.) So apparently dude got the message and has decided to turn over a new leaf for 2015.
