Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon: Dating?

Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon are a fledgling new couple, according to reports, with the movie star allegedly on “cloud nine” and smitten with the actress. British magazine Grazia (via The Independent ) claims the 51-year-old Hollywood hunk became friends with Prepon through their Scientology social circle. Cruise, like everyone else, watched Orange is the New Black Season 1 and saw how awesome Laura is in it, which only fueled his attraction to her. Tom Cruise Dating Laura Prepon? He reportedly took her out to dinner at The Renaissance at The Manor Hotel, surprising her in a classic car and with a 1979 bottle of merlot. The insider alleged that it went so well, the duo returned to the restaurant for a second Sunday brunch date, and later hung out at John Travolta’s house. Tom’s rep says not to get your couch-jumping hopes up, though. Awesome as that date sounds, and even though we can see them together, Cruise’s camp shot down rumors of a romance, saying the report is “false.” It’s been more than 15 months since the actor’s divorce from his third wife, Katie Holmes, became final, putting an end to their five-year marriage. He is still involved in a lawsuit, however, regarding a celebrity gossip magazine’s claim that he abandoned Suri Cruise, his daughter, during the split. During his deposition, Cruise was reported to have compared acting to fighting in Afghanistan , although that story was taken somewhat out of context. Much like his connection to Laura, it sounds like.

‘Going Clear’ Author Lawrence Wright Says It’s Time For Tom Cruise To ‘Open His Eyes’ To Scientology

New Yorker writer,  Lawrence Wright appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe  talk show to discuss his new book,  Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief , and Tom Cruise quickly became the focus of the conversation. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author — who did some 200 interviews with current and former Scientologists, as well as other sources for his book — was in the process of  discussing  reports of “abuse and involuntary confinement” within its Sea Org unit — the equivalent of Scientology clergy, according to Wright — when  host Joe Scarborough brought up the Top Gun star (around the 6:20 mark of this clip). “Do you think Tom Cruise knows of these alleged problems with Scientology . And secondly, what’s in it for a guy like Tom Cruise, who has the freedom to do whatever he wants and chooses to stay in the church”. Wright’s response: “I’m glad you’ve put your finger on Tom Cruise, because I think he has a moral responsibility — he’s been the front pitchman for this organization for years. More people have heard about Scientology through him than any other person. There may be some willful blindness on his part, but if so, it’s time for him to open his eyes because he’s been selling this.” In the video, Wright points out that Cruise is “being treated very well” by church members. He even says they “hand-crafted a limousine for him.” I’ve asked Cruise’s spokeswoman if the actor would like to respond to Wright’s comments and will post them if they are forthcoming.  As you might guess, the Church of Scientology doesn’t have good things to say about Going Clear, and has called it an “Error-filled unsubstantiated bigoted anti-Scientology book.” Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Vanity Fair: Actress Picked By Scientology To Date Tom Cruise Was Rejected By Top Gun Star

The October issue of Vanity Fair magazine has a Scientology-related cover story about Tom Cruise that makes Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master look like light comedy. In a feature titled, ” What Katie Didn’t Know: Marriage, Scientology-Style,”  special correspondent Maureen Orth reveals  the details of a top-secret 2004 mission that Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology head David Miscavige, undertook to find a girlfriend for Tom Cruise. The magazine reports that, according to several sources, the organization devised “an elaborate auditioning process in which actresses who were already Scientology members were called in, told they were auditioning for a new training film, and then asked a series of curious questions including: ‘What do you think of Tom Cruise?'” The sweepstakes winner was Iranian-born, London-raised actress Nazanin Boniadi, who had a recurring role in General Hospital and How I Met Your Mother .  Boniadi dated Cruise from November 2004 until January 2005, after Orth reports, a month-long preparation in which she was “audited” every day — a Scientology-based process in which she revealed “her innermost secrets and every detail of her sex life.” Boniadi also underwent a physical transformation that allegedly included losing her braces, the red highlights in her hair and her boyfriend. (Orth cites a “knowledgeable source” who says that the actress was shown “confidential auditing files of her boyfriend to expedite the breakup,” although the church denied any “misuse” of confidential information.) According to Vanity Fair , Boniadi was flown to New York in November to meet Cruise.  After dinner at Nobu and ice-skating at the Rockefeller Center rink there, which had been closed to the public but not “an entourage of Scientology aides,”, the actress spent the night with Cruise.  Orth cites several sources who say the two did not have sex, but that Cruise  told Boniadi, “I’ve never felt this way before.” Approximately one month and at least two confidentiality agreements later, the magazine reports, Boniadi was kicked to the curb. Orth writes that anything the actress said or did that met with Cruise’s disapproval was relayed to a member of the Scientology staff.  Boniadi, also reportedly offended fast-talking Scientology top gun David Miscavige by repeatedly telling him “Excuse me?” while she was entertaining him in Telluride. (A representative for Miscavige told  Vanity Fair , “Mr. Miscavige doesn’t remember any girlfriend of anyone, in his entire life, insulting him.”) Despite these reportedly stressful conditions, Boniadi “was in love with Cruise,” Orth writes. That said, she was “overwhelmed” by “the intensity of his affection, especially his predilection for public displays” — a detail that should not come as a surprise to those who remember Cruise expressing his newfound love for Katie Holmes on national TV by jumping on a couch on Oprah Winfrey’s show in 2005, Cruise, on the other hand, told Boniadi  “I get more love from an extra than I get from you.” By the third week in January 2005, Boniadi was asked to move out of Cruise’s house and into Scientology’s Celebrity Centre.  She was told that the Mission Impossible actor “wants someone with her own power — like Nicole,” as in Cruise’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Cruise would meet Homes later that year and announce his engagement to the Dawson’s Creek actress that June. Boniadi would not fare nearly as well.  The magazine reports that when the actress ran into a friend at a Scientology Center in Florida, Boniadi spilled the beans on her relationship with Cruise, only to have the friend report her. As punishment for her indiscretion, a “knowledgeable source” told Orth that Boniadi’s punishment was “to scrub toilets with a toothbrush, clean bathroom tiles with acid and dig ditches in the middle of the night.” She was also tasked with selling copies of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s book, Dianetics on street corners. (A Scientology spokesperson told the magazine, “The Church does not punish people, especially in [that’ manner.”) A spokeswoman for Cruise called the Vanity Fair story, which includes a number of other revelations about Scientology and Cruise,  “false.”   [ Vanity Fair ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. In White Folks News: A Complete Breakdown Of Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Cheap A$$ Divorce

Tom said: “Yeen gettin’ half of isht over here baby girl!” Tom Cruise’s Prenup Allows Katie Holmes Nothing Except Child Support According to TMZ reports : Katie Holmes walked away with nothing other than rather modest child support in her divorce from Tom Cruise … and we at TMZ have the breakdown. Sources familiar with documents filed with the court tell TMZ … Katie got no lump sum payout, which is consistent with the prenup which essentially shuts her out of Tom’s $250 million fortune. As for spousal support …. Katie got zip. Katie will get money for child support, but it’s way less than a judge could have ordered. According to the settlement, Tom must pay Katie $400,000 a year in child support. That comes to $33,333.33 a month. The money will be paid by electronic transfer. Tom must pay Suri’s support for the next 12 years — until she turns 18. All tolled, that comes to $4.8 million. Tom must also pay Suri’s expenses, including medical, dental, insurance, education, college and extracurricular costs. And … both Tom and Katie agree that Suri will NOT attend a “residential school” from now through her high school years. Translation — she can’t be shipped off to boarding school — Scientology or otherwise. Katie could have gotten more child support under New York law if the case went to trial, but both she and Tom decided to settle quickly. Hollyweird celebs ( Kimmy Cakes and Kris ) take note. Get yourself a virgin-tight prenup and if you decide to get a divorce, get it over with quick and dirty. Image via SpalshNews
