As most of us celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy on Monday, racist white folks were out here trying their hardest to undo his legacy. 51-year-old Mark Allen Bartlett has been arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm after video footage showed him waving a gun and spewing racial slurs at young, Black cyclists during the annual “Wheels Up, Guns Down” protest. Miami 7 News reports: A woman is seen visibly upset at the group of bicyclists blocking the roadway. A separate video showed the woman accusing one of the riders of running over her foot. “You just ran over my foot with your tire!” she yelled at one of the riders. Things then escalated when, Miami Police said Mark Allen Bartlett, ran up to the group with a gun. “Get the f*** out of here, you f****** piece of s***,” Bartlett told one of the riders. “You f****** losers.” As Bartlett walked away, he’s heard calling them the N-word three times. After seeing the disturbing video, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez tweeted: I can confirm that the man in the video was arrested. His use of racist comments, especially on MLK Day, and threatening others with a gun will not be tolerated by anyone. 412 People Have Been Fatally Shot By Police This Year But NFL Won’t Let Players Kneel

T he number of police shootings has reached 412 so far in 2018, according to data published this month on  The Washington Post police shootings database. More shootings have happened this year between January and May than the same time last year, according to the Post’s report. Approximately 400 shootings had taken place between that five-month period in 2017. Eighty-five African Americans have died at the hands of police so far this year, said The Post, which has been keeping a record of every fatal shooting in the U.S. by a police officer in the line of duty since January 1, 2015. Eighty-two men and three women have been reported killed. The alarming numbers have stirred more conversations about police reform and accountability. The NFL made a cowardly move to stop players from kneeling on the field for police brutality victims this week. With the rule change, the league gave into pressure from Trump and decided to punish players who get on one knee during the National Anthem to protest the disturbing amount of nationwide police shootings. Activists have steadily spoken out against the NFL’s new anthem policy announced Wednesday (May 23). With fatal police shootings on the rise, the fight against this pattern must continue to grow. Protests have already erupted against these shootings across the nation, and more police reforms must happen to stop this trend. Racial-biased policing needs to be pursued as the nation tries to end these brutality incidents. O ur healthcare system is broken and now with the Trump administration dismantling Obamacare, people will be even more vulnerable to for-profit healthcare. This is the case for a woman in Baltimore who was thrown out of the University of Maryland Medical Center wearing a hospital gown and socks. Baltimore-based psychotherapist  Imamu Baraka caught the horrifying moment on camera. The 22-year-old is crying on the street, clearly in pain and appears to have blood on her face. Watch the disturbing moment below: According to The Baltimore Sun , “Hospital officials have not said what the woman was treated for in the emergency room or why she was left out in the cold near a public transit bus stop.” It’s pretty clear why she was left out in the cold — she didn’t have the money or the insurance to pay for the insane amount the hospital would charge. Dr. Mohan Suntha , the hospital’s top executive, said in a statement, “We take full responsibility for this failure” and the hospital did not provide “basic humanity and compassion.” Absolutely disgusting. This is exactly why Americans need single-payer healthcare, not our current system, which profits off the sick. The young woman who was thrown out of the hospital was reportedly admitted back into the hospital because of  Imamu Baraka. She is now with her mother. Steve Stephens Shoots Himself Dead After Pennsylvania Police Chase First and foremost, good riddance . According to CNN , Facebook live murderer Steve Stephens has been found dead inside his white Ford Focus in Erie, Pennsylvania. “After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself,” Pennsylvania State Police said. Police are still investigating Stephens’ claim that he murdered 13 other people in addition to 74-year-old Robert Godwin, who many witnessed die on the disturbing Facebook live stream. Though some of you may cringe at this, Mr. Godwin’s children have already forgiven Stephens for taking their father from them: “Each one of us forgives the killer, the murderer,” Godwin’s daughter Tonya Godwin Baines said. “We want to wrap our arms around him.” Notice the brother didn’t say a word. Looks like the sisters are speaking for themselves. R.I.P. Robert Godwin. Burn in Hell, Steve Stephens.
