Lil Wayne Dropped By Mountain Dew Over Emmett Till Controversy

Lil Wayne will no longer be representing Mountain Dew. PepsiCo cut ties with its popular pitchman Friday over his controversial lyric mentioning 1950s civil rights martyr Emmett Till in the crudest of ways. “Beat that pu–y up like Emmett Till,” the 30-year-old rapped on Future’s “Karate Chop” remix , which was later pulled due to the offensive reference. Weezy recently apologized for (well, acknowledged) the controversy in a letter to Emmett Till ‘s family, but that apparently did not go far enough. PepsiCo released a statement asserting that Weezy’s “offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand.” “We do not plan any additional work with Lil Wayne moving forward.” Tunechi’s rep confirmed the split with the food and beverage corporation, but called it “an amicable parting” of ways due to “creative differences.” When he was 14, Emmett Till was beaten beyond recognition in Mississippi in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman and nothing more. Epic Records removed the obscene lyric from the song and issued an apology, and Weezy said he will not be performing it in any way again. Yet the Till family was still outraged by the lack of a sincere apology and called for Mountain Dew to sever its ties with the Young Money CEO. Point, Till family.

Miley Cyrus #1 on Maxim Hot 100 List: Whoa …

Miley Cyrus cannot be tamed. So to speak. She’s #1 on the new Maxim Hot 100 list in a bit of a stunner, and couldn’t help but blow the lid off the story before the magazine even announced it. “Didn’t know this was coming out yet! I’m so happy to be #1 on Maxim HOT 100 List! #myfanskickass #dreamsdocometrue,” she tweeted with the above pic! In one of the sexier Miley Cyrus photos to date, she lies on her side, showing off her curves in gold bathing suit that matches her platinum-blond pixie cut. Miley displaces 2012 winner Bar Refaeli as queen of Maxim in a pretty major upset. FHM naming Mila Kunis Sexiest Woman Alive ? Less of a surprise. The 20-year-old is clearly Maxim Hot 100 material – it rates looks as well as media buzz, fan base, overall sex appeal, cultural and career impact – but #1? Vote in THG’s poll:  Does Miley deserve the crown?   Yes! She’s so hot and awesome! Team Miley! Maybe not #1, but girl has it goin’ on these days … No way! She’s not ‘hot’ in any way! SMH at this. Justin Bieber and Usher: Sued! For $10 Million!

In his personal life, it’s rather clear that Justin Bieber has found somebody to love once again: Selena Gomez . In his professional life, however, the global superstar and his very good friend are now in legal trouble for allegedly NOT having somebody to love before Devin Copeland came along. Allow us to explain… Somebody to Love Copeland has filed a $10 million lawsuit against Bieber and Usher , claiming that the duo infringed on his copyright when releasing the 2010 smash single. Copeland and writing partner Mareio Overton say they brought their track to Usher in 2008 and that he outright stole it when he helped to include it on Bieber’s “My World 2.0.” “Without any authority or consent,” the suit states, “[Manager Jonetta Patton] and Usher conspired with songwriters and producers…to directly copy Plaintiffs’ song ‘Somebody to Love,’ intending to appropriate Plaintiffs’ intellectual property as their own.” Overton supposedly heard Bieber’s version of the song on the radio, called Copeland about it and the complaints started from there. The duo is seeking $10 million in damages for copyright infringement, contributory infringement and vicarious infringement, along with a permanent injunction preventing Bieber and Usher from claiming ownership of “Somebody to Love.” No word yet in response from anyone in Justin or Usher’s camp.

Charlie Sheen: Glad Twins Were Taken From Brooke Mueller, Are Now Safe

Charlie Sheen fully supports the Department of Children and Family Services’ decision to remove his twin sons from their mother, Brooke Mueller. The twins were removed from Brooke’s care late Thursday for undisclosed reasons, but officials apparently believed they were not safe in her care. “Charlie fully supports the actions of the DCFS,” Sheen’s rep says. The actor, who has been through this kind of thing before, “knows Max and Bob are in a safe, stable, loving environment with Denise and the boys’ sisters.” That’s a giant ouch, Brooke Mueller . It’s unclear exactly why DCFS was called to her house or why they felt Mueller’s residence was “unsafe environment,” but it’s a safe bet it pertains to drug use. A hearing has been set for next week to sort out where the kids will live long-term, which Charlie’s rep says he supports and will be actively involved in. Sheen “will fully cooperate and fully participate in all proceedings.” It’s unclear if and when Brooke will regain custody, but her struggles with substance abuse are notorious at this point, so … what’s your schedule like, Denise?
