Naomi Watts: I’m Scared of the Kardashian Era!

We're living in very frightening times, people. Due to the threat of nuclear war, terrorism and crazy Boston Red Sox fans? Yes, but that's not really applicable in this case. Instead, we're referring at the moment to a culture that has embraced Kim Kardashian and her family to such an extent that they make millions and millions of dollars per year. Many big names have spoken out against the famous family in recent times, including President Barack Obama, but Naomi Watts summed up our feelings very well in a May 2015 interview with Australian InStyle. “There’s so much focus on celebrity these days; we’re in the Kardashian era and it’s slightly scary,” said the Oscar nominee. Naomi Watts Naomi Watts told Australian InStyle in May 2015 that “we’re in the Kardashian era and it’s slightly scary.” We think it’s VERY scary. 2. Barack Obama Barack Obama has reportedly banned all of the Kardashian reality shows from the White House and said in a speech that Kim and Kanye are examples of how a celebrity-obsessed culture is bad for our children. 3. Cher Cher has Tweeted that the Kardashians are “bitches” who should be “drop kicked down the freeway.” She made a point of saying she is NOT kidding. 4. Kelly Cutrone The author and fashion guru says there’s not “one person who really works in the fashion industry who gives a flying f-ck about Kanye West.” She also says Kim isn’t doing anything “fresh” in the fashion world. 5. Reese Witherspoon Says Reese Witherspoon at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards: “When I came up in this business, if you made a sex tape, you were embarrassed and you hid it under your bed and if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hid your face.” Hmmm… Who could she have been referencing? 6. Batkid Begins Trailer: Ready to Be Inspired?

Ready to break out your Kleenex, movie fans? You better be… because the first trailer for Batkid Begins has hit the Internet. The documentary tells the story of Miles Scott, a very young man who was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months old. After after going through his final round of treatments in 2013, Scott had his wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation when he became a superhero for a day and was honored along the streets of San Francisco. Courtesy of Warner Bros., Batkid Begins chronicles Scott's inspiring story; from his chemotherapy to the day that he grew into a viral phenomenon. As the trailer depicts, well-known faces from Batman actors to President Barack Obama became a part of Scott's special day two years ago, cheering Batkid on as he got his wish. “He gave everybody license to just be a little absurd,” says Dark Knight composer Hans Zimmer. “Live their little dreams a little bit.” Batkid Begins comes out on June 26.

Bad Movies We Love: Cool World

What do you get when you take the cartoon/live-action interplay of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? , remove the classic WB/Disney characters, and replace them with loud, gurgling, predatory sexual freaks? You get goofy gonorrhea and the 1992 bomb Cool World starring Moneyball -er Brad Pitt, a perverted young Gabriel Byrne, and Kim Basinger, an Oscar winner who exhibits the dramatic range of Claudia Schiffer. This movie’s bad because it’s drawn that way.

Hysteria Appears to Have Worked Out OK for Maggie Gyllenhaal

“[ Hysteria director Tanya] Wexler said she gave everybody on set a vibrator. But getting them there caused a bit of embarrassment for a security guard at a Heathrow airport luggage checkpoint. ‘The officer said, “You have 20 or 30 small electronic devices in your luggage,” and I said, “Yes, they’re vibrators,” and the guy just said, “Move along,”‘ she recalled. [Maggie] Gyllenhaal said she was awash with gift vibrators from friends by the end of filming.” Yowza! So, uh, why isn’t there more post-Toronto buzz ? [ NYDN ]
