Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn went public with their romance to foil the paparazzi, according to the golfer, while she is not freaked out by his sordid past. Ever since their simultaneous Facebook posts and photos confirmed what we suspected – Lindsey Vonn dating Tiger Woods – many have wondered: Why would the Olympic skiing gold medalist go for a man whose epic, marriage-ending sex scandal made him the poster child for whom not to date? Apparently, the answer is not all that complicated. “Tiger makes Lindsey happy,” says one of her friends. “She isn’t concerned what others think. She trusts her instincts. She’s comfortable with the relationship.” “They have sat down and talked it out more than once. He has explained his side and owned up to what he did wrong. He has been very honest with her.” “She’s not freaked out by his past.” A source close to Woods, 37, says the golfer has been open with Vonn, 28 about his past, which she once joked about during the scandal’s peak. Rumors of a relationship heated up early last month, when Woods sent his private jet to fly Vonn home to Vail, Colo., after a crash on the slopes. The crash at the Alpine World Championships in Austria left her with torn knee ligaments and a fractured shin – but more time with her man at least. Woods, who was at Vonn’s side during her surgery after flying her home, “has been really supportive as she recovers from her injuries,” says a pal. As for the public proclamation of their love, which would’ve been unthinkable a few years ago for Tiger, he said in an interview that it was for the best. “I’ve had situations where it’s been very scary, dangerous for my kids and the things, the extent they’ll go to,” Woods said of undercutting the paparazzi. As we reported yesterday, Rachel Uchitel joined the cast of Celebrity Rehab . Amazingly, her addiction is not having affairs with married celebrities, but drugs. Of the prescription variety: Ambien to be precise. That ring any bells? It should, considering that she did the drug with Tiger Woods, whose Ambien-fueled sex romps with his chief mistress are no secret. He also dreamed of an Uchitel-Derek Jeter-David Boreanaz threesome during an Ambien-fueled dream at one point, but that’s a story for another time. In new email messages between Uchitel and Woods obtained by Radar Online , the golfer asked her for Ambien – and she worried about their addiction. “Would it be possible for you to get us some more Ambien,” Woods emailed her in November of last year, right before his cheating ways were exposed. FORMER LOVERS : Of each other, and of Ambien . Uchitel responded, “Ok, but we need to talk about this. I don’t know how to deal with us possibly being addicted to prescription meds. What can I say to make you stop taking Ambien excessively? What can I do to prove that I’m worried?” “I feel like taking pills is my only alternative!” Woods answered. There is no indication that Tiger is or was addicted to Ambien, a sedative and hypnotic known to increase sexual pleasure immediately after it is taken. Rachel Uchitel is another story . Their affair came to a crashing halt when Tiger’s Escalade crashed into a tree following his attempt to flee an enraged Elin Woods , but it doesn’t look like the professional adulterer has slowed down in her Ambien consumption since. She joined Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew this week. Celebrity Apprentice had been courting her as well, but the Donald is no longer interested.

The notion that Tiger Woods knocked up porn star Devon James years ago would not be far-fetched at this point, but a DNA test has apparently disproved it. Claims by one of the golfer’s many, many mistresses that she gave birth to Tiger Woods’ love child now appear bogus thanks to a test performed in 2002. The DNA test was conducted to determine paternity of Devon James’ son Austin T. James as part of “an ongoing child support battle,” according to TMZ . A 29-year-old porn star claimed Woods was the daddy, leaked a photo of the kid and said Austin’s middle initial is a secret tribute to the golfer she loved. Meanwhile, another mistress, Theresa Rogers , says she had Woods’ baby in 2004 and negotiated a multimillion-dollar settlement to keep it under wraps. Stay tuned on that one. But he’s in the clear when it comes to Devon James’ son, at least. The kid does look lot like Tiger, BTW, but alas. Sorry Austin. SPANKED : We don’t doubt that Tiger Woods put it to Devon James, but it seems her bid to shake him down with a fake love child have been whacked. Go science.

As Tiger Woods preps for the prestigious U.S. Open this week, it’s apparently open season for mistresses claiming he fathered their kids years ago. Yesterday, we reported on a UK documentary airing this week which will allege that the golfer has a kid with Theresa Rogers , his “cougar mistress.” Now another mistress, porn star Devon James (no relation to Woods mistress Joslyn James), claims Tiger is the father of her son, Austin T. James. Austin’s middle initial is a secret tribute to the golfer she loved, claims Devon James , who leaked a picture of the supposed Tiger Woods love child. The child was born in 2001, before Tiger was married to Elin Nordegren. The Theresa Rogers spawn was born in ’03, also before he was married. Devon James claims Tiger Woods knocked her up back in the day . “She was 19 at the time, and attending a Christian school program” a source close to Devon James recalls. “They immediately started a relationship.” “She became pregnant, but decided not to tell Tiger,” who she knows is the dad as he’s “the only African-American man she dated at the time.” Devon James was one of the bevy of busty babes who came forward with Tiger tales after his mystifying November car wreck and fall from grace. James first dished on Woods in March, claiming James was asked to join a threesome with a girlfriend a mystery man who turned out to be Woods. “Hi, I’m Tiger. Nice to meet you,” James quoted him as saying before they quickly got down to business – him paying $2,000 each for “dirty” sex. Is Austin T. James Tiger Woods’ love child? Nike’s new Tiger Woods ad – released just hours before the golfer’s return to the sport at The Masters – is a confessional, solemn and emotional commercial. It’s also an ad from a sponsor that pays him eight figures a year. Tiger himself says not a single word, but his melancholy stare speaks volumes. His late father, Earl Woods, narrates with excerpts from a previous interview. With the golfer stoic in black and white, Earl’s voiceover says: “Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are, and … did you learn anything?” Words that come to mind include “moving,” “strange,” “creepy,” “bizarre” and “genius.” It may be a little of each. Nike is clearly seeking to humanize its poster boy, but is this a tactless way of doing it? Is it really just a means of salvaging its own brand?
