Gina Carano had her very first paparazzi experience today. The HAYWIRE star was running errands in Beverly Hills today, when she was shocked to see cameras following! Gina says she’d love to appear in more films, and frankly, we’d love to see more. However, we’d still love to see Gina kick butt every now and then!

Soderbergh at AFI Fest: Angelina Jolie Meets Steven Seagal in Haywire’s Gina Carano

AFI Fest ‘s “secret” screening of Steven Soderbergh ‘s Haywire wasn’t so much a showcase for the AFI darling as it was a coming out party for MMA bruiser-cum-action heroine Gina Carano, whom Soderbergh glimpsed fighting one night on TV and subsequently built a star-studded spy thriller pic around. But it’s hard to say if first-time actor Carano will branch out in a film career beyond the often lo-fi action experiment. Is she a hybrid of Angelina Jolie and Steven Seagal , as Soderbergh suggested Sunday night? Or is there more of a Cynthia Rothrock quality to Carano’s steely gaze and powerhouse physicality?

Steven Soderbergh Apparently Not Retiring After All

This just in from the reportedly outgoing Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh, answering questions at Relativity Media’s panel at Comic-Con : “Matt Damon is apparently as discreet as a 14-year-old girl. I had this drunk conversation with him while shooting Contagion and four days later, I read about it in the paper. And he read it verbatim. Nobody in this economy wants to hear about someone quitting a good job. That kind of got blown out of proportion. And that’s Matt’s fault.” Aha! Cue “Blamin’ Damon” headlines in 3… 2… (And check out all of Movieline’s Comic-Con 2011 coverage here .)

Another day, another outstanding trailer for an upcoming movie that you probably didn’t think would get a push from Comic-Con. Hot on the heels of that breathtaking clip for Drive comes the balls-out trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire , the previously thought-to-be second of Soderbergh’s final five films. Good thing ol’ Mr. Soderbergh isn’t actually retiring !
