For Discussion: Transgender Actress Laverne Cox Gets Critics’ Choice Nomination In Best Supporting Actress Category

Laverne Cox Earns Best Supporting Actress Critics’ Choice Nod After making history with a TIME Magazine cover feature , Laverne Cox is now breaking ground for transgender actresses in the industry with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Mind you, the Critics’ Choice Awards are a pretty good barometer for what shows and actors will sweep the Emmys later this year…so it’s likely that she’ll cop even bigger accolades later in the year. With the rough time Black women have getting meaningful roles and equal recognition in Hollywood, do you think it’s fair for a transgender actress to be nominated in the women’s category? Or, on the flip side, since she identifies and lives her life as female, does she deserve a nomination in the women’s category regardless of what may or may not be between her legs? Feels Good: New, Safer “Cap Condom” Leaves Most Of Manhood Exposed For Increased Pleasure

Just the tip! In a much more literal interpretation of the term “ Jimmy Hat ,” a, LA man has invented a condom for increased male pleasure and safety. Wrap (some of) it up fellas! Via MailOnline : An American has invented a new condom which he says is stronger, safer and enables better sensitivity. The Galatic Cap Pregnancy Prevention device sits on the very tip of the penis, leaving the shaft exposed. It was developed by LA-based Charles Powell after a friend of his contracted HIV. He believes his product is ‘easier to use, safer and more secure – and vastly more pleasurable – giving a sex sensation the way nature intended.’ The condom comprises two parts – a U-shape polyurethane adhesive film that wraps around the penis – like a plaster around a finger – and a cap that sticks to it to firmly trap semen. Mr Powell claims the polyurethane part is like a second skin – and can be put on hours or days in advance as it can be worn while urinating and washing. When a man wants to have sex, he peels off the paper backing on the cap and sticks it to the polyurethane to securely bond the two and trap semen. He insists the device, which is transparent, will stay on for the duration. Mr Powell believes his product provides a solution to three common issues with condoms: a lack of sensitivity, problems getting into the packaging and applying the condom. Hmm, interesting right? Easier use, increased sensation, and safer relations…seems like a win-win! Fellas would you cop this?

REVIEW: Strong Performances, Superb Direction Lift Please Give

Nicole Holofcener has made only four movies in the course of her approximate 15-year directing career, but that could be because each movie is really two in one: There’s the picture right in front of you, the one you actually watch, which can often feel like a clutch of orphan vignettes wandering around in search of some organizing principle. And then there’s the way that shambling mosaic reforms itself in your mind minutes, hours or days afterward. You think you’ve buttoned up the characters’ lives and laid them to rest, only to find yourself making unbidden, random observations about them as you’re fixing a sandwich or flossing your teeth: Why did that character talk to her mother that way, and why did her mother let her? That girl was so lovely — why were her social skills so lame? Two hundred dollars for a pair of jeans? That’s nuts! Holofcener writes, and helps to shape on-screen, characters we often don’t even like, and what do we do? We invite them home with us. Talk about a soft touch.
