BOSSIP Exclusive: Michael Ealy & Sanaa Lathan Dish On ‘The Perfect Guy’

Sanaa Lathan And Michael Ealy Talk “The Perfect Guy” Movie Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy were recently in Atlanta promoting their upcoming film “The Perfect Guy.” The duo took to the city’s Time Lounge where they met with bloggers and photographers to dish on their movie that follows the romance between Leah  (Sanaa) and Carter (Michael Ealy) that turns sour after Carter turns out to be a crazed stalker and sociopath. BOSSIP was on hand for the event and chatted with the stars about real life stalkers and on set fun between Sanaa, Michael and their costar Morris Chestnut. Sanaa Lathan on behind the scenes fun: One day I get to work with Michael, the next day I get to work with Morris. They kept me laughing. A lot of my girlfriends never want to visit on set but this was one of the times when they would say, ‘oh hey, can I come to work with you?!’ Michael Ealy on playing “the bad guy”: I like to think of Carter as more than a stalker. I feel like for me as an actor it’s always good to diversify your body of work, I don’t want to play a good guy for the rest of my life. I’ve been dying to play a bad guy. It was just about finding that right part. They were a couple times she [Sanaa] was really scared. On “Fatal Attraction” inspiring the film: That was one of our inspirations, it’s one of those classic suspense, sexy thrillers that shocked the world when it came out and it did so well. The Perfect Guy hits theaters September 11. Hit the flip for more photos.

James Franco Has A Great And Powerful Smile

If James Franco reads his reviews,  he should avoid  David Edelstein ‘s critique of Oz The Great and Powerful   at Vulture.com .   “Franco is unconvincing generally, tamping down the passion, ironicizing everything out,” wrote Edelstein. “It’s possible Franco’s modern-sounding stammers and shrugs opposite actors playing it straight are meant in the spirit of Bob Hope’s hipster cowards — or those of Woody Allen , who cited Hope among his inspirations for  Sleeper  and  Love and Death . But Franco doesn’t have the comebacks. He’s playing a noncommittal character in a noncommittal way, so that you want to scream, “This isn’t a performance-art project! You’re carrying a movie!”  Ouch, though I’m with Edelstein on this one. It’s weird to see Franco giving such a modern performance in a movie that functions as a prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz , and is supposed to be taking place in the early 1900s.  I guess that tornado didn’t just transport Franco from Kansas to Oz, it messed with the time-space continuum, too. Well, while we wait to see if the weekend box-office results will vindicate Franco’s performance, I’ve noticed something about Franco that is fully committed: his smile. Watching him promoting Oz over the last few weeks and the films he brought to Sundance in January, Kink , which he produced, and Interior. Leather Bar , which he co-directed, I’ve discovered that Franco does for beaming what Futurama’ s Hypnotoad does for staring. He’s all in — teeth, gums and crinkled eyes — and the effect kind of mesmerizing in a man-he’s-really-going-for-it way. Check out these photos: So, bad reviews be damned. Keep smiling James….I…await…your final…orders. [ Vulture ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on  Twitter . Follow Movieline on  Twitter .

Joe Jonas Revisiting ‘Good And Bad’ Relationships On New Album

‘This is my one opportunity to show people my journal,’ the JoBro tells MTV News after his Paper mag concert in NYC. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News BROOKLYN, New York — Like his younger brother, Nick , before him, Joe Jonas is gearing up to release a solo album after achieving success as a group. Without Nick and older brother Kevin by his side, Joe says it was a bit overwhelming at first. But the 21-year-old, who will release Fast Life in September, eventually realized that he could count on the support of his fans, who would get to see a new side of him with this solo album. “It was scary in the beginning just because I knew this is my one opportunity to show people my journal: the good and bad of every relationship I’ve been in, you know, [and] what I look for [in relationships],” Joe told MTV News backstage on Wednesday at the Sounds Like Paper Concert at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, New York. The singer was celebrating his Paper magazine cover and performed four songs, including his Chris Brown-penned single “See No More.” He also talked about other inspirations for the album, including “being on tour with my brothers, being in a band.” Jonas says his approach was to “almost talk about the fans and my point of view and how I see them.” The songs on Joe’s upcoming album won’t sound like the ones that made the Jonas Brothers famous, he said. They’re unique to Joe, fusing his love of house music and mainstream pop&B instead of the pop/rock of a JoBros album. “It was really, really cool to have those experiences [from] all my life [and] to be able to write about it and on my own,” he explained. “And also on the music side, it was a fun process. It was almost an evolution process, because in the beginning it sounded nothing like it is now. It was totally different and very singer/songwriter, and I naturally love dance music and urban, hip-hop music, so I wanted to be able to make something new for them to hear.” Are you looking forward to Joe’s solo album?
