Source: Jeff Kravitz / Getty Last night, millions of people tuned into Super Bowl LIII only for it to be the lowest rated Super Bowl in ten years. According to Deadline , the televised game scored a 44.9/68 in metered market results. Although this is still a huge audience, the rating is the lowest for a Super Bowl since 2009 and it’s down about five percent from the 2018 game. On top of this, last night’s game was one of the lowest scoring Super Bowls ever with the New England Patriots beating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3. But probably the biggest let down of the night was Maroon 5 ‘s significantly dry halftime show performance.   Now don’t get me wrong… Maroon 5 definitely has some bops. “This Love” alone is one of those songs that’ll sneak up on you in a random department store and will have you singing along like it’s 2004. But having a couple of tunes that hit is different from putting on an engaging, dynamic, awe-inspiring performance. Now on one hand, we won’t fault Maroon 5 or anyone coming after them since they’re coming after epic performances like Beyonce ‘s Super Bowl XLVII shutdown.  But on the other hand, when the most engaging thing about your performances is your Bed Bath & Beyond shirt, we have an issue. Colin Kaepernick is still without a home team after speaking up on police brutality and starting a whole movement. And then of course, there’s Janet Jackson . After her accidental nip slip at the 2004 Super Bowl , the pop star was all but burned at the stake by critics. In retrospect, many people are upset with the excessive scrutiny she faced in comparison to say… Justin Timberlake , who initiated the wardrobe malfunction. Meanwhile, Adam Levine let his nips run free at this year’s halftime show. And many people still weren’t engaged. Jay Z Is Allegedly Trying To Stop Travis Scott From Shucking And Jiving At The Superbowl

T he NFL has effectively banned  Colin Kaepernick  from playing in the pro football league simply because he peacefully exercised his constitutional right to protest. The rich white men at the Super Bowl and CBS, including the creepy  Les Moonves , attempted to destroy Janet Jackson’s career over a wardrobe malfunction in 2004 — and Justin Timberlake walked away unscathed. Therefore, the Super Bowl does not deserve one millisecond of Black artists during their Halftime Show… unless you are Kylie Jenner’s baby’s father, Travis Scott . Luckily, Jay Z  was reportedly trying to talk some sense into him. SEE ALSO:  Some No Name, Pitchy R&B Singer Disrespected Keith Sweat And Gets Demolished On Twitter Overrated pop band Maroon 5  agreed to perform at the Super Bowl in February and allegedly asked several Black artists to perform, too. Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000,   Cardi B, Usher and Nicki Minaj all reportedly said no.  Rihanna gave a hard no back in October and even  P!nk declined . But yesterday it was announced that Travis Scott said yes, and the rapper was promptly  trampled by social media . Now, Jay Z is trying to save any credibility Scott has in the Black community by attempting to convince him to not perform. Variety.com reported that two sources were claiming Jay Z was reaching out to Scott. Neither Jay’s or Travis’ camp confirmed the reports, which probably means it’s true. Sadly, there probably isn’t much Jay can say to the 26-year-old. Even Maroon 5 has ignored a Change.org petition, which has more than  75,000 signatures , to not perform. Thankfully, Philly rapper and budding social media icon  Meek Mill is not here for any Super Bowl foolishness. When it was rumored he was going to perform, he quickly shut that down: If Travis does perform, which he probably will, good luck with having a career in the Make America Great Again fanbase. Pulmonary Plane: A Human Heart Was Found On Southwest Flight Causing The Plane To Turn Around

Source: Gary Hershorn / Getty Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Southwest Airlines proves you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. On Sunday, a plane traveling from Seattle to Dallas was forced to turn around in mid flight after officials realized a human heart had been left on board. The Seattle Times reports: Passengers were shocked when the captain explained that the heart was intended for delivery to a Seattle hospital after a previous flight from Sacramento. A Southwest spokesman said it was “absolutely necessary” to get the cargo back “as quickly as possible.” The heart had traveled from California to Washington state, across Idaho and back to Washington. The Southwest flight spent about three hours in the air before landing back at Sea-Tac Airport. Dr. Andrew Gottschalk was traveling on the flight and told the paper that while everyone aboard “was happy to save a life,” he still thought the incident was a “horrific story of gross negligence.” Southwest still hasn’t revealed the name of the company that shipped the human heart, but confirmed that it “specialized in shipments that are life critical”. Lordy.

Concert-Goers At NYC’s Global Citizen Festival Mistook A Fallen Barrier For Gunshots

Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Global Citizen Panic Ensues As People Mistake Fallen Barrier For Gunshots At Festival Every year, thousands of people pack into Central Park in New York City for Global Citizen Festival, a concert that boasts big headliners and free tickets, all for the cause of ending extreme poverty by 2030. This year, however, there was some panic at the festival that almost halted the concert. Just ahead of Janet Jackson’s set at the Global Citizen Festival, a fallen barrier caused panic among the 60,000 attendees–who reportedly thought it was the sound of gunshots. Witnesses at the scene told  the  New York Times  that the confusion and fear of an active shooter at the music festival nearly caused a stampede as concertgoers fled. Chris Martin, who was on the stage at the time, tried to calm the attendees down. “What happened is a barrier I think fell down. Of course it caused people to be a bit frightened and stuff like that. But nobody is trying to hurt nobody. You are all safe,” he said to cheers before handing the microphone to NYPD’s assistant chief Kathleen O’Reilly, who also reassured the safety of the attendees. We’re going to have to try our best.” Global Citizen later tweeted out that there were a few injuries caused by those running away, etc, but the show would go on. Thank you to all the Global Citizens who took action and joined us today. Our thoughts are with those who were injured or afraid after the barrier fell earlier this evening. After some amazing sets from the likes of Cardi B and Janelle Monae, Janet Jackson took the stage–and even brought out Q-Tip out as a surprise guest to perform their classic hit “Got ’til It’s Gone.” The Weeknd ended out the night with an amazing performance, and the rest of the night went off without a hitch.
