Paula Deen Lawsuit: Chef Reponds, Denies "Baseless" Allegations

Attorneys for Paula Deen said that the former worker suing for sexual harassment and being subjected to a hostile work environment is making false allegations. Deen’s camp says Lisa Jackson only made the claims after rebuffing attempts to resolve the matter amicably, and after the chef refused to pay her to keep quiet. The lawsuit, filed Monday, “makes false allegations against Paula Deen and they will be proven false in court,” said a statement from the firm representing Deen. The law firm said the suit was filed in a local court after the Southern cooking star and Type 2 diabetic refused to pay the woman to “address false claims.” Attorneys for Jackson, a former general manager at the restaurant, didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment regarding Deen’s rebuttal. Jackson said her doctor encouraged her to quit managing Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House in Savannah, Ga., due to panic attacks and other stress. The restaurant is owned by Paula Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson, who is white, said in the lawsuit that Hiers routinely made inappropriate sexual remarks and that she heard Heirs and Deen using racial slurs . The woman also said in court papers that she saw Hiers violently shake a black employee and that he “fostered a workplace environment of intimidation.” Deen’s law firm said that she had investigated Jackson’s claims and had unsuccessfully attempted to reach out and address them with her. “She has made baseless, inflammatory allegations, threatening to go to the press and ruin Paula Deen’s reputation,” the firm’s statement said. After she allegedly demanded a large cash payout, “we refused to bow to that kind of pressure and refused to pay money to address false claims.” Jackson’s lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. Ashton Kutcher Supports Rumer Willis, Attends Los Angeles Concert

With Demi Moore out of rehab and back in Los Angeles, Ashton Kutcher is making his presence felt once again in the life of his ex-wife. Sources confirmed yesterday that the actor visited his troubled former spouse recently, and now various onlookers also report that Kutcher lent his support to Rumer Willis last night. Kutcher and a friend stopped by The Sayers Club in Los Angeles around midnight and “immediately joined Rumer’s large table,” a witness tells Us Weekly , as Ashton was on hand to cheer Willis on during the aspiring singer’s set on stage. The quasi relatives talked for a few moments before Willis performed. And once the show began, Kutcher “smiled as he slowly bopped his head along to her song,” this source adds. “He kept his arms crossed and never took his eyes off the stage. Former lovebirds and Gossip Girl co-stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr are now giving it another shot, reportedly. Says an eyewitness who saw them together: “They were eating brunch at Allswell restaurant in Brooklyn Feb. 11. They were seated in a corner table by the window and were kissing and making out!” Their lovefest continued through into Sunday. “I saw Ed and Jessica eating brunch at Cafe Colette in Brooklyn on Feb. 12 and they were all over each other, ” a second eyewitness tells Life & Style . Just last month at the Television Critics Association conference, Ed Westwick, who plays Chuck Bass, said he had no plans for Valentine’s Day. “I’ve never done anything for Valentine’s Day because there’s never been anyone worth it, and I have no plans this [year],” he told Life & Style . Though reps for Jessica and Ed didn’t comment, the duo ended things amicably before, so it’s not hard to see how a reconciliation could happen. “He’s a really rad guy,” Jessica Szohr has said about Ed. “He’s awesome and smart and talented and adorable, and we make each other laugh.”

Jay-Z is taking up a whopping 50 rooms for the lavish opening of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The star, who’s performing at the event along with Coldplay on New Year’s Eve, has “requested the rooms for his entourage and for his personal security,” a source told us. As a result, hotel managers have had to rearrange accommodations for other important guests. Celebs expected at the bash, produced by celebrity event designer Colin Cowie, include Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Wahlberg, Kristin Davis, Ellen Pompeo, Kellan Lutz, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Olivia Munn, Emmy Rossum, Jessica Szohr, Mark Salling and Selita Ebanks. Jay’s rep wouldn’t comment, but a hotel rep said, “We are looking forward to welcoming Jay-Z to the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and as is our policy, we don’t disclose details regarding a guest’s accommodations or other arrangements while at the resort.” Fifty rooms for “entourage and personal security”?
