Call 314-213-2222 and let them know that we need more than an apology. Always putting our community first, we are Hot 104.1” Original Story: A St. Louis TV reporter recently referred to the civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. , as “Martin Luther Coon Jr.,”  which may have went under the radar for some. After this was brought to the attention of the station by a viewer, Kevin Steincross , of KTVI, did issue an apology and as a result will not be fired or face additional disciplinary actions. Not the same can be said for Jereme Kappell of WHEC in New York, who was fired from his position as a meteorologist for literally doing the same thing. What are your thoughts on this St. Louis? Fox 2 Anchor can say MARTIN LUTHER “COON” JR on the air and all he have to do is apologize to audience, but April Simpson playfully called an intern Bruce Leroy in a email and she got fired from Fox 2 pic.twitter.com/N77cb8GciN — City Boi Ent© (@JohnnyMack_) January 17, 2019 St. Louis newscaster uses racial slur instead of “King” when saying MLK’s name.. The only reason he apologized? He references a viewer who called and complained. Dungey was expected to share the vice president of originals position with Holland and report directly to her. The Black executive will also have a direct line of communication to content chief Sarando. Joining Netflix also gives Dungey the opportunity to reconnect with Shonda Rhimes , the creator of “Scandal,” and “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris . Netflix ain't playing. https://t.co/GWp275l1Wc — Tre'vell Anderson (@TrevellAnderson) December 17, 2018 Dungey, who spent most of her career at ABC, created a lot of buzz from industry watchers who speculated about Dungey’s next move following her announced departure from the network. It came after she canceled Roseanne Barr ’s show over Barr’s racist comment about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett . “Given that ABC, the place I’ve called home for nearly 15 years, represents the gold standard of traditional broadcast, it feels like the perfect next step for me to join Netflix, the unparalleled leader in streaming. I’m invigorated by the challenges ahead and the opportunity to forge new relationships, and excited for the very welcome reunion with incredible talent,” Dungey said. Speculation had focused on Dungey either joining one of two Netflix-based production companies: Rhimes’ Shondaland or the Obamas’ Higher Ground. She has the best of both worlds. Dungey’s new positon gives her greater oversight of both companies, according to Hollywood Reporter. “We’re delighted to be adding Channing’s expertise, leadership and deep experience to Netflix, and I look forward to partnering with her as we continue to grow and evolve our global network. I have been a fan of her character and approach from our early days as executives,” Holland commented. King Of R&BeeEEeeE: 10 R&B Singers That Give Jacquees A Run For His Money

Source: Hot 1079 Jacquees started a massive social media storm when he proclaimed himself the R&B King of his generation. Over the weekend, he took to Instagram to hand himself the title. “I just want to let everybody know that I’m the king of R&B right now,” he exclaimed. “For this generation. I understand who done came and who done did that but now it’s my time. Jacquees, the king of R&B. You just heard me say it.” Jacquees, whose most popular song is a cover of Ella Mai, released his debut album this year. Prior to that, he’s been known for his mixtapes and cover songs that he’s dubbed as “Quemixes”. Though he’s seen some moderate success, is peaking at #28 on the Billboard’s R&B chart good enough to call himself the king? It seems the young newcomer ruffled a few feathers with his self appointed title. One of the notably bothered was J. Holiday, who no one has heard from since “Bed” in 2007. J. Holiday created an Instagram video to name the real kings of R&B, Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, himself and some random person we’ve never seen before. But that wasn’t the best part of his video, however. The highlight was Holiday being mistaken for a valet driver — because, why not?   While J. Holiday does have some cuts under his belt and Jacquees has potential, neither one of these guys are close to being the king of R&B today. So, in an effort to try and settle the debate, here are 10 R&B artists that truly have the potential to reign supreme.   Chris Brown Source: Theo Wargo / Getty Let’s start off with the obvious, you can’t talk about today’s successful R&B artists without putting Chris Brown in the conversation. He’s an overall performer and silently drops hits. It’s non-debateable, 1 Billion streams on Spotify do not lie.   Hit the flip to see who else makes our list.

Black Excellence: Google Pays Tribute To Dr. Martin Luther King And His Glorious Dream

Google Celebrates MLK Day Holiday With Special Doodle Kudos to Google for always rising to the occasion! Today’s Google doodle is dedicated to the legendary civil rights leader. The tech company posted about the artwork on their site: Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., Baptist minister, Nobel Laureate, and civil rights activist who dedicated his life working tirelessly for peace, social justice, and opportunity for all Americans – irrespective of color or creed. On November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill creating a federal holiday to honor Dr. King. It was federally observed for the first time on January 20, 1986, and over 30 years later, the day is traditionally celebrated as a day of service, with people volunteering time and talent to help others, thus paying homage to Dr. King’s legacy. Today’s Doodle by guest artist Cannaday Chapman was also developed in collaboration with the Black Googlers Network (BGN), one of the largest employee resource groups at Google. The image depicts a young girl perched on her father’s shoulders, enthralled by the power and eloquence of Dr. King’s words. The scene is evocative of Dr. King’s dream for children everywhere to one day live in a better world. Cannaday shares his thoughts on today’s Doodle below: Q: What does MLK and MLK day mean to you personally? A: Martin Luther King Jr.’s message is especially relevant today and will be relevant for the remainder of civilization. Dr. King is most remembered for fighting for the rights of African Americans, but he fought for the rights of all Americans. He believed in fairness and equity for everyone. As a black man, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing today if it wasn’t for him and the brave people of the civil rights movement. You can read the full post from Google HERE Continue reading

See the article here:

Source: Shareif Ziyadat / Getty In a recent interview with Montreality, Vic Mensa argued that he should play the “king of pop” in a biopic, and he’s not talking about  Michael Jackson.  Mensa said he considers Prince to be the king of pop. Along with this, he shared that he would love to play the late great artist in a biopic. “Prince is one of my biggest idols of all time,” he said. “The reason why I’d be able to kill the role as Prince is because I got that mouthpiece. Prince was butter smooth with it and I feel like I could do it.” Check out his full thoughts below starting at the 8:36 mark. While many folks weren’t too hype on the idea of Vic playing Prince, others were just mad that he called Prince the King of Pop in the first place. Swipe through to check out what people had to say.

E pisode 6, of The Walking Dead , titled “The King, the widow and Rick” breaks this season’s trend action-filled episodes and dials it back. Tonight’s episode opens up with each of the camps communicating with one another via letters filling each other on how the war with The Saviors is going. We learn that according to Rick the plan is working and that its main goal was to successfully cut off The Sanctuary’s supply route. That does seem to be the case based on the events that took place on last weeks episode where the workers decided to voice their frustrations.  The reaction to Rick’s word doesn’t invoke a spirit of togetherness as members of the team decide to handle things their own way. King Ezekiel is still on down and out after witnessing his men getting slaughtered and his pet tiger getting ripped to shreds by walkers.
