For the first time outside the comfort of his Late Show set, David Letterman addressed his recent sex scandal during a rare visit to Live with Regis & Kelly . After Regis Philbin posed a potentially awkward question about Letterman’s home life, Dave opened up with sincerity about cheating on wife Regina Lasko . “I don’t know if people know this, but I’ve had some trouble,” he joked. “You know when something like this happens – and mostly it was reckless behavior on my part – if you behave recklessly and it hurts your family, then of course it hurts you. “It was not a tragedy, it was just stupidity. And thank God, because we all know what tragedies are, and we all know how horrifying and scarring… and you can’t get beyond some of these. We all know what we’re talking about.” If nothing else, Letterman is refreshingly candid about his own failings . “You read about [these tragedies] every day. It’s just godawful. And when you’re a parent, this is your worst nightmare. So it wasn’t that, thank God.” What it was, Letterman continued uninterrupted about the extortion case that blew the lid off his affair with staffer Stephanie Birkitt , was stupidity. “It was stupid behavior … [an explosion] where you wake up every morning and you’re scared and you’re depressed and sad and you kind of gotta let that knock you down … and pretty soon you’ve gotta start knocking it down.” “And then when that happens, you’re able to take a look at the pieces left of your life, because you think an explosion has taken place, and you’re looking at the shards and you see, well, can we put this back together?” “By god, maybe you can put it back together, and maybe it won’t be the same, but maybe it’ll be different, maybe it can even be better in a different way.” “So that’s what we’re doing, we’re putting the thing back together to see what it will look like. Is it viable, is it something that can be satisfying, fulfilling.” Tiger Woods , take note. This is how you address your past transgressions if you want people to respect you again. We hope so. The MC who always has a strong viral-video game, is driving home the point that his material requires more than just sitting down and listening to it on an iPod. He just released his latest mixtape Movies on Demand to set up his summer LP Cons TV, named after his series of vlogs a couple of years ago. The official project is being helmed by his label CEO and his legendary cousin, Q-Tip. “This album — the first time ever you have a album executive-produced by Kanye West and Q-Tip, which essentially makes it, from a soundscape point of view, The Blueprint meets Midnight Marauders, ” he said of West’s work on the Jay-Z classic and Tip’s work with A Tribe Called Quest. “It’s an incredible album.” The Jamaica Queens native is also banking that his new tape will get the people on point for the project down the line. “It was incentive — the reason for putting out Movies on Demand was because I really had to drive home the point of what the album was gonna be and sonically what people had to look forward to,” Con explained. “Sometimes when you have such a gem … it catches late. You have to have creative and innovative ways to catch people’s interest. That’s why I gave the mixtape away for free — I don’t need your money, I need your ears. I’ll get the paper later. I’ll get the paper regardless. When MTV News caught up with Scherzinger at rehearsals for the show, she cleared the air about the romance rumors. “I don’t even know where they get these stories sometimes,” she said, a sentiment similar to one she tweeted about — even alluding to her actual romance. “Been reading the net & seeing the craziest stories … Derek is like a little brother 2 me,” she wrote . “Everyone knows how in luv & committed I am 2 [boyfriend, race car driver] Lewis [Hamilton]!” In fact, in regards to their latest routine, she compared their chemistry to “two old jolly sailors chumming around.” So do these “chums” get up to any shenanigans in their downtime? “We don’t have too much downtime from rehearsals, to be honest with you,” she said. “Right now, it’s crunch time. It’s kind of a stressful period.” With Hough out of the picture, is there anyone else on the show she has a crush on? “I have a softness in my heart for Buzz [Aldrin]. I kind of have a crush on him,” she shared. “I haven’t [told him], but I just show it to him when I hug. He’s just the sweetest guy and his wife is the cutest thing ever, people.
