For far too long, seeing a therapist or psychologist has been considered taboo within the black community. You might have heard things like, “Only white people go to therapy.” or “You’re not crazy, why do you think you need therapy.” So instead we rely on our faith, our family and our friends to help us cope with our problems. But while your loved ones may have the best intentions, in most cases they are not professionally trained.
