Meghan Markle Celebrates International Day of the Girl, Shares Amazing Throwback Video

Meghan Markle may or may not be moving to Canada . But the Duchess of Sussex is definitely sending an inspiring message to young women around the world. And she’s doing it in honor of International Day of the Girl, which really is a thing that falls this year on October 11. “Today is International #DayoftheGirl, a day observed globally and created by the United Nations to acknowledge the gender inequality that exists worldwide,” said Markle to open her Instagram post. She added: “Be it lack of access to education, stigma surrounding Menstrual Hygiene Management, forced child marriage, legal or medical inequality, or gender-based violence, there is a pressing need to support young women in their path to excellence.” Continued Markle as part of her tribute to a cause that has always meant a lot to her: “It is also a day to celebrate and encourage girls to know their value and to support them in taking action to grow into the women they wish to be. Along with this message, the beautiful Duchess of Sussex posted never-before-seen footage from her and Prince Harry’s trip to Africa, as well as a video from her childhood. Seriously, even when she was 11 years old, Markle was delivering inspiring words of wisdom. Here’s a screen capture from that throwback video: Posted by a Kensington Palace source/employee/spokesperson, the post went on as follows: The Duchess of Sussex has been a long time advocate for women’s and girls rights and at the age of eleven campaigned against a sexist advertisement, which was then changed. No matter what age, or what background you have the power to make an impact. It’s certainly true that Meghan has championed gender equality for years. Long-time followers are likely aware that her work on this issue even dates back long before her days as a royal. In her post, for instance, Meghan shared a video of a speech she gave to the United Nations back in 2015. “It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision,” she said at the time. That was four years ago. As mentioned above, though, Markle goes back even further to when her 11-year old self forecasted her future as an activist. “If you see something that you don’t like or are offended by on television or any other place, write letters and send them to the right people and you can really make a difference for not just yourself but for lots of other people,” a very young Meghan said way back in the day. Editor’s Note: How does anyone dislike her? Editor’s Note #2: Is Meghan Markle pregnant ?!? This is how Markle ended her Instagram caption: HRH recently shared a quote during a speech in Cape Town: “Visualize your highest self, and show up as her.” To all of the young girls reading this today on International Day of the Girl, that quote is for you. Amen, Megs. Keep ignoring the haters and keep doing you. You’re a role model to girls everywhere. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle’s Deleted Instagram Revealed: Booze, Boyfriends & Bedroom Selfies!

Whose Side? Iggy Azalea Called Wendy Williams A “Crackhead” And Here’s Who Twitter Is Destroying

Source: GETTY / Getty Iggy Azalea Vs. Wendy Williams Wendy Williams is not one to mince words. So when she went on her show to talk about Nicki Minaj, she mentioned Iggy Azalea , but referred to her as “the Australian girl with the fake body.” Yiiikes. This prompted Iggy to clap back on Twitter with this zinger: “Who’s the crack head in the halfway house with the gossip show thing?” Now, we get the intention here, to clap back. However, a white woman talking about crackheads? We don’t know about that one, chief. See how Twitter is reacting and whose side you’re on: a white Australian female rapper just tried to insult a black woman by comparing her to 1. A crackhead & 2. A man — on Beyoncé’s Internet.. where’s her management? That’s not how you manage that situation. at all. pic.twitter.com/H64EclkMju — Majesty Ria (@ToriNicksWho) September 18, 2019

University of Maryland Medical System, where Pugh was once on the board, paid $500,000 for her book, Grant Capital Management gave $100,000 toward helping book sales to “tackle childhood obesity,” and several other huge organizations reportedly gave the former Mayor money. On Thursday, Pugh’s lawyer read a statement from the Mayor, saying: “I am sorry for the harm that I have caused to the image of the city of Baltimore and the credibility of the office of the mayor. Baltimore deserves a mayor who can move our great city forward.” Pugh has been on personal leave since April 1, 2019, after the announcement that the federal government was investigating her book dealings.Baltimore City Council President Bernard “Jack” Young has been serving as acting mayor since Pugh went on leave. Mark Atherton of Triple Threat Management, with whom Carter had recently signed, told ABC13 in Houston of the late singer: “Justin had a potential to, you know, in our eyes, and a lot of people’s eyes to be the next Garth Brooks.” The sad news went public on Thursday but a message was shared on Carter’s Instagram page on March 17 that reads as follows: Please Keep Justin’s Family In Your Prayers & Give Them Privacy In This Hard Time. Justin Is No Longer With Us, He Has Passed Away. He Will Be Missed By Us All. He Was Always Full Of Joy, Laughter, And Loved On So Many People In His Life. Justin Appreciated All His Fans And Their Support. Justin Loved All Of You. Thank You All For Your Support! Carter’s mother also spoke to ABC11, telling the outlet of her son: “His music was his world. He was always there for everybody.” She added in a separate interview with Fox News: “He was a wonderful artist. He was the voice, he was the total package and we’re trying to keep his legend [alive]… He just loved music, he was very gifted and by God, his voice was spectacular.” Atherton, meanwhile, added that he “doesn’t know too many details” about the accidental shooting — except that, as previously mentioned, it occurred during production of a video. He also described his new client as “kind of like the class clown, but when it was time to get down to business, he got down to it.” On his official Facebook bio, Carter listed Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Clay Walker, Garth Brooks and George Strait among his favorite artists. This same profile also says that Carter’s passion came from “the sound of old country, and he clings to that feeling he gets when he hears it and tries to push that into his music.” Carter, according to that page, had just finished his solo album. Over a six-month period, he wrote, produced and recorded over 30 songs. Carter was an Army veteran, and his mother has set up a fund to solicit funeral expenses while waiting to see whether his service qualifies for VA assistance. “Justin always wanted to reach the top,” reads a statement posted on the singer’s Facebook page. “It’s unfortunate it has to be this way, but Justin’s name is worldwide now & his music.” Our thoughts go out to Carter’s friends, family members and loved ones. May he rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Napa Valley’s First Black-Owned Wine Estate Inks Deal With Delta Air Lines

Read more:

T he creators behind Napa Valley’s first Black-owned winery estate are continuing to make monumental moves in the wine and spirits industry. According to the Philadelphia Tribune , Brown Estate Vineyards has inked a deal with Delta Air Lines to have its wine collection available on their flights. Delta Airlines is ending Black History Month on a high note. The airline is partnering with Brown Estate Winery, the first black-owned winery Napa Valley. https://t.co/qs4XZ8QxgD — Blavity News (@Blavity) March 1, 2019 The partnership between the airline and the winery is a part of Delta’s effort to take a more inclusive approach in regards to the vendors that the company works with. The brand was introduced to Delta by Carlyne Scott who serves as a member on the company’s Black community business resource group. Initially, Brown Estate’s products were featured on a Delta flight from San Francisco to New York as part of a Black History Month special, but leaders at the airline decided that they wanted to take the partnership further. On Tuesday, Delta announced that Brown Estate wines will become one of their suppliers during the 2019-2020 winter season. The leadership team at Delta is excited to bring the brand on board. “Partnering with innovative, diverse suppliers from certified small-, minority- and women-owned businesses like Brown Estate is fundamental to Delta’s strategy to keep climbing year-round,” Heather Ostis , Vice President of Supply Chain Management, Delta Air Lines, said in a statement. “Seeking employee perspectives and leveraging unique ideas brings us closer to meeting that goal, while creating the highest quality experience for our customers.” Deneen Brown —who founded the company with her siblings 24 years ago and now serves as president of Brown Estate Vineyards—says that this is a major win for her and her family and is excited to partner with Delta. “We are delighted to partner with Delta Air Lines,” said Brown. “Delta’s all-in commitments to the spirit of inclusion and to their wine program are perfectly aligned with our core values at Brown Estate.” Brown Estate Vineyards is not only the first but the only Black-owned winery estate in Napa Valley, California. There is a need for more representation in the wine industry. Research shows that less than 5 percent of wineries in the U.S. are Black-owned.
