The thief makes off with only an iPhone, a lighter and some loose change from the Delta private hire vehicle parked in Liverpool city centre. According to Daily Mail, James Quarton, 30, was sentenced to 14 months in prison for the crime. ‘The police arrested him very quickly after the video was posted on social media because he was well known to them’, says the driver of the vehicle. SMH. Not a very smart criminal is he?

Napa Valley’s First Black-Owned Wine Estate Inks Deal With Delta Air Lines

T he creators behind Napa Valley’s first Black-owned winery estate are continuing to make monumental moves in the wine and spirits industry. According to the Philadelphia Tribune , Brown Estate Vineyards has inked a deal with Delta Air Lines to have its wine collection available on their flights. Delta Airlines is ending Black History Month on a high note. The airline is partnering with Brown Estate Winery, the first black-owned winery Napa Valley. https://t.co/qs4XZ8QxgD — Blavity News (@Blavity) March 1, 2019 The partnership between the airline and the winery is a part of Delta’s effort to take a more inclusive approach in regards to the vendors that the company works with. The brand was introduced to Delta by Carlyne Scott who serves as a member on the company’s Black community business resource group. Initially, Brown Estate’s products were featured on a Delta flight from San Francisco to New York as part of a Black History Month special, but leaders at the airline decided that they wanted to take the partnership further. On Tuesday, Delta announced that Brown Estate wines will become one of their suppliers during the 2019-2020 winter season. The leadership team at Delta is excited to bring the brand on board. “Partnering with innovative, diverse suppliers from certified small-, minority- and women-owned businesses like Brown Estate is fundamental to Delta’s strategy to keep climbing year-round,” Heather Ostis , Vice President of Supply Chain Management, Delta Air Lines, said in a statement. “Seeking employee perspectives and leveraging unique ideas brings us closer to meeting that goal, while creating the highest quality experience for our customers.” Deneen Brown —who founded the company with her siblings 24 years ago and now serves as president of Brown Estate Vineyards—says that this is a major win for her and her family and is excited to partner with Delta. “We are delighted to partner with Delta Air Lines,” said Brown. “Delta’s all-in commitments to the spirit of inclusion and to their wine program are perfectly aligned with our core values at Brown Estate.” Brown Estate Vineyards is not only the first but the only Black-owned winery estate in Napa Valley, California. There is a need for more representation in the wine industry. Research shows that less than 5 percent of wineries in the U.S. are Black-owned. Heinous Hazing: 9 LSU Frat Bros Arrested For Urinating On Pledges, Making Them Lay Down On Broken Glass

Source: Jose Luis Peleaez Inc / Getty Now, this is ridiculous… LSU Delta Kappa Epsilon Members Arrested For Hazing 9 members of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity have been arrested for heinously hazing pledges. The frat bros are being accused of several hazing-related crimes including ordering pledges to lie in piles of broken glass, kicking them with steel-toed boots and urinating on them. Delta Kappa Epsilon has also closed the chapter indefinitely. The New York Post reports that the alleged hazing included gasoline being poured on pledges, pledges being forced to submerge themselves in an ice machine wearing nothing but their underwear, pledges being beaten with metal pipes and fraternity members allegedly attempting to put out cigarettes on them. Citing a police report, the Post adds that one victim claimed that he was made to lie down on broken glass and was urinated on. He adds that a second pledge was also urinated on while he laid face down on the glass. One victim “stated that after he was taken out of the ice machine, he was made to lay in the nearby basketball court. He stated that the basketball court had broken glass all over it, which he was made to lie on top of,” the documents say. “The victim stated that another pledge was made to lie on the court next to him, face down while they were both sprayed with a hose, had milk crates thrown at them and were urinated on.” There’s also a report of a “new boy shower” where the pledges held a milk crate filled with ice and cayenne pepper above their heads while standing in a cold shower and looking up. The ice would then melt and the pepper would drip into their eyes. Those arrested have charges ranging from misdemeanor hazing to felony second-degree battery and false imprisonment. Jussie Smollett Speaks Out For the 1st Time After Attack

Source: Jamie McCarthy / Getty We’re hearing from Jussie Smollett for the first time since his brutal attack earlier this week. “Let me start by saying that I’m OK,” the Empire actor said in a statement  to  ESSENCE on Friday. “My body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words.” Smollett was beaten and brutalized by two men on Tuesday in Chicago. According to police there, the attackers first yelled racial and homophobic slurs before they beat him and poured an unknown chemical substance over him. They released photos of a pair wanted for questioning about the incident on Thursday. “I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level,” Smollett said about the misinformation being spread across social media about his attack. ” Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served.” “As my family stated, these types of cowardly attacks are happening to my sisters, brothers and non-gender conforming siblings daily. I am not and should not be looked upon as an isolated incident. We will talk soon and I will address all details of this horrific incident, but I need a moment to process,” he concluded. “Most importantly, during times of trauma, grief and pain, there is still a responsibility to lead with love. It’s all I know. And that can’t be kicked out of me.” Smollett ended his statement by signing, “With Love, respect & honor…Jussie.” The Smollett family released a statement of their own yesterday that echos some of the same sentiments made in Jussie’s statement.

According to DailyMail , hundreds of TSA workers have called out of work “sick” with “blue flu” rather than work for free during Donnie Trump’s b!t¢h fit shutdown of the government. The result is huge lines that create 90-minute waits at major airports like LaGuardia and JFK in New York. There were so few employees that even the TSA Pre-Check was closed completely. Gene Okerlund Dies; Iconic WWE Announcer Was 76

We have our first major celebrity death of 2019. According to the WWE, beloved announcer “Mean” Gene Okerlund is no longer with us. The legendary brodcaster, who conducted some of the best-known interviews in company history with such stalwarts as Hulk Hogan and Randy “Macho Man” Savage, was 76 years old. In its statement, the WWE did not say exactly when or how Okerlund passed away, simply writing as a tribute: “WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Gene Okerlund, the most recognizable interviewer in sports-entertainment history, has passed away at age 76.” Okerlund was given his nickname by the former Minnesota Governor Jesse “The Body” Ventura, who was also an announcer with the organization before getting into politics. He got his start at Omaha radio station KOIL before moving to Minneapolis, where he worked for a local TV station and eventually found work with the WWE in 1983. Okerlund actually performed the National Anthem at the first WrestleMania in 1985 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. His last appeared on Monday Night Raw took place in January of 2018, during which time he interviewed AJ Styles. As news of Okerlund’s death spread around the Internet, numerous stars (past and present) sent along their tributes and best wishes.
