Page Six style section did a breakdown on Cardi’s court clothes and the items total over $13K for the entire ensemble: The hot pink Salvatore Ferragamo single-breasted silk blazer was $3200, while her matching high-waisted cotton trousers, also Ferragamo, ring in at $1,750. Cardi’s Christian Louboutin fuchsia “So Kate” 120 mm heels are $695 and at $7,000 her taupe Chanel flap bag made out of snakeskin from the brand’s pre-spring 2018 collection was the most costly item of all. If you got it, flaunt it — we guess. According to Page Six, Cardi yelled to fans from the window of her car outside the courthouse: “I’m tired of rapping about my p—y. Y’all already know I got good p—y. I’m tired of rapping about my money…We gonna talk this gangsta s–t…I’m too f–king lit,” referring to her new single “Press,” which she released at midnight. She concluded, “They should’ve never given a b—h from the Bronx some money.” Pure comedy! Karl Lagerfeld is an absolute icon within the fashion industry. Sadly, after weeks of reports that he was in poor health, Lagerfeld passed away on Tuesday morning. The fashion juggernaut was 85 years old. Karl had suffered health complications in January. These troubles prevented him from attending the 2019 haute couture show in Paris on January 22. However, rumors of his poor health were not initially confirmed. Then, on February 18, his health took a turn for the worst, and he was admitted to the American Hospital of Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The next morning, still at that hospital, he passed away. Lagerfeld’s specific cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld’s talent, he designed extensively for three brands at once: Chanel, Fendi, and his own line, Karl Lagerfeld. He is credited with reviving the Chanel brand, saving it and making it once again relevant. There was a time when, perhaps in part due to Coco Chanel’s complicity with the Nazis, the fashion line was at death’s door. Lagerfeld revived the line (a line which, by the way, is currently owned by a Jewish family — not big Nazi fans). He took the reins at Chanel in 1983 in part because everyone had cautioned him to avoid doing so. Oppositional reflex isn’t just for sled dogs. And Lagerfeld’s work and talent paid off. Lagerfeld’s talents extend beyond the fashion world. He remains well-regarded as both a photographer and as a director. He is also a bestselling author — of a book whose subject matter may be surprising. His book, The Karl Lagerfeld Diet , became a bestseller in 2005. The book’s popularity arose in part as a result of his success after losing nearly 100 pounds in just 13 months. The diet that he had undertaken to do so had been specially designed for him, but clearly other people were interested. His weight loss goal was simply to fit in clothing designed for slender runway models. Karl Lagerfeld was in a long-term relationship, beginning in the 1970s, with French socialite Jacques de Bascher. The relationship continued until Jacques’ death from AIDS in 1989. Beyond that, Lagerfeld’s most famous bond is arguably with his cat, a Birman named Choupette who is currently 7 years old. Choupette has her on Twitter account. Lagerfeld famously delighted in spoiling her. Lagerfeld has also been a frontrunner in selecting models from dynastic families. Lily Rose Depp, Sofia Richie, Sylvester Stallone’s daughter Sistine, and Kaia Gerber have all been tapped to work his runways. He’s even had Kaia Gerber, who has certainly inherited her mother’s looks and talent, close out his runways. However, Lagerfeld has been quick to dismiss the idea of considering his own “legacy” within the fashion world. He says that he does not even like the word, as it reminds him of death. However, he will always be a fashion icon, and his distinctive look — with or without a fan in hand — will endure. Lagerfeld has also been controversial at times. His use of fur prompted PETA to attempt to pie him at one time, though the pie missed and instead struck Calvin Klein. Notably, he eventually incorporated fake fur into his clothing lines. He has made disparaging remarks about Adele, calling her “too fat,” and also snubbed Heidi Klum, claiming that she was “too busty.” Despite those unfortunate controversies, even his critics will mourn his passing. In fact, Beam sounded indifferent over Brittany Renner’s tell-all book because people have been doing it for YEARS on pages and in music. Like recently, Quavo detailed sex with Nicki Minaj and no one even FLINCHED. But Joe Budden seemingly wanted Beam to degrade Renner on camera and when she didn’t, he blew hookah smoke all the way down her throat! The hit-making L.A. producer popped the big question (no word on if he actually got down on one knee, but the magic 8-Ball says “hell naw”, but we digress) to his girlfriend and BFF of 8-years Chanel Thierry and she said “yes!” That’s some REAL love Mustard put on Chanel’s finger. The center stone is 8 carats and there are 10 carats on the band. We hope these two go on to have all the happiness in the world, but if s#!t goes left, there is no way in hell Mustard is getting that thing back. Chanel could rebuild Detroit with that thing. Mustard wasn’t as effusive as Chanel in his Instagram post, but we’re pretty sure his actions said more than his thumbs ever could. Cotdamn that’s a big a$$ ring. Congratulations!
I haven’t done a post on Chanel West Coast in years, probably because she’s not actually famous in any way, shape or form. But who cares? As long as she keeps putting on cleavage shows like this, she’ll always be my favorite rapper. So what if I’ve still never heard a single one of her songs. I don’t think anyone else has either.
WELP! Black People Are Being Pushed Out Of Atlanta” Billboard An anti-gentrification billboard is making national headlines. On Atlanta’s I-285 highway, drivers are seeing a billboard that reads, “Black people are being pushed out of Atlanta”—which is indeed true. In addition to the message, however, there’s a deeper meaning behind it. The billboard is actually advertising a documentary from Black Channel Films. The doc is called “Gentrified” and it’s said to explore “the unspoken ethnic component behind the most devastating socioeconomic movement in American society today.” According to The AJC , the film was shown at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Cultural Center and Bookstore in Atlanta. It was also followed by a Q&A with Mary Gill of WAOK 1380 AM. The documentary will also be shown in New York, Chicago, London, Detroit, Houston and Washington D.C.
