Karl Lagerfeld Dies; Fashion Industry Legend was 85

Karl Lagerfeld is an absolute icon within the fashion industry. Sadly, after weeks of reports that he was in poor health, Lagerfeld passed away on Tuesday morning. The fashion juggernaut was 85 years old. Karl had suffered health complications in January. These troubles prevented him from attending the 2019 haute couture show in Paris on January 22. However, rumors of his poor health were not initially confirmed. Then, on February 18, his health took a turn for the worst, and he was admitted to the American Hospital of Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The next morning, still at that hospital, he passed away. Lagerfeld’s specific cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld’s talent, he designed extensively for three brands at once: Chanel, Fendi, and his own line, Karl Lagerfeld. He is credited with reviving the Chanel brand, saving it and making it once again relevant. There was a time when, perhaps in part due to Coco Chanel’s complicity with the Nazis, the fashion line was at death’s door. Lagerfeld revived the line (a line which, by the way, is currently owned by a Jewish family — not big Nazi fans). He took the reins at Chanel in 1983 in part because everyone had cautioned him to avoid doing so. Oppositional reflex isn’t just for sled dogs. And Lagerfeld’s work and talent paid off. Lagerfeld’s talents extend beyond the fashion world. He remains well-regarded as both a photographer and as a director. He is also a bestselling author — of a book whose subject matter may be surprising. His book, The Karl Lagerfeld Diet , became a bestseller in 2005. The book’s popularity arose in part as a result of his success after losing nearly 100 pounds in just 13 months. The diet that he had undertaken to do so had been specially designed for him, but clearly other people were interested. His weight loss goal was simply to fit in clothing designed for slender runway models. Karl Lagerfeld was in a long-term relationship, beginning in the 1970s, with French socialite Jacques de Bascher. The relationship continued until Jacques’ death from AIDS in 1989. Beyond that, Lagerfeld’s most famous bond is arguably with his cat, a Birman named Choupette who is currently 7 years old. Choupette has her on Twitter account. Lagerfeld famously delighted in spoiling her. Lagerfeld has also been a frontrunner in selecting models from dynastic families. Lily Rose Depp, Sofia Richie, Sylvester Stallone’s daughter Sistine, and Kaia Gerber have all been tapped to work his runways. He’s even had Kaia Gerber, who has certainly inherited her mother’s looks and talent, close out his runways. However, Lagerfeld has been quick to dismiss the idea of considering his own “legacy” within the fashion world. He says that he does not even like the word, as it reminds him of death. However, he will always be a fashion icon, and his distinctive look — with or without a fan in hand — will endure. Lagerfeld has also been controversial at times. His use of fur prompted PETA to attempt to pie him at one time, though the pie missed and instead struck Calvin Klein. Notably, he eventually incorporated fake fur into his clothing lines. He has made disparaging remarks about Adele, calling her “too fat,” and also snubbed Heidi Klum, claiming that she was “too busty.” Despite those unfortunate controversies, even his critics will mourn his passing. Words cannot express what a loss this is for the world. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Kurving KimYe: Fellow Judges Ban John Legend’s Problematic Pals From “The Voice” Set

Source: Richard Buxo/SPW/SplashNews / Splash News “The Voice” Judges Want John Legend To Keep KimYe Away From Set Looks like Kanye West is persona non grata at “The Voice” headquarters… With Season 16 of the NBC show gearing up for premiere in a few weeks, RadarOnline is reporting that rookie coach John Legend has been banned from bringing Kanye West and Kim Kardashian on the show. Their source says Legend wanted for West to be an advisor for Team John but returning judges Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine weren’t happy when they heard his plans and let higher ups knows how they felt. “Kanye has just caused too many problems in his personal life and endeavors lately and they just feel that it would be best if him and Kim stayed away from the show for John’s first season,” the insider revealed. “John has been bringing Chrissy to set and everyone gets along with the both of them just fine. He has a big head and he is definitely trying to win, but they are all in it to win it,” the source told Radar. Do you believe it? We’re not so sure. Kardashians were all over the place when Larsa and Scottie Pippen’s daughters did Dancing With The Stars kid competition — but we could see things being a little different if the Wests were set to go on camera.

Roy Clark Dies; Country Music Legend Was 85

Roy Clark, a legend in the world of country music and the former host of Hee Haw, died this morning at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 85 years old. A representative for the Grammy, CMA and ACM Award-winner tells TMZ Clark passed away after having recently contracted pneumonia — and that he ultimately passed due to complications from the illness. Clark had been in the spotlight for decades. He started performing all the way back at the age of 14 and was one of the first artists to land singles on both the pop and country charts. Adept at the guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and many other instruments, Clark was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009. He was born in Virginia and was introduced to the music industry by his father, who saw exceptional talent in his young son. “I was subjected to different kinds of music before I ever played,” Clark once said, adding of his father: “Dad said, ‘Never turn your ear off to music until your heart hears it because then you might hear something you like.'” Sound advice, right? Clark eventually went on tour with such stalwarts as Hank Williams and Grandpa Jones, dropping out of school when he could no longer keep up with the demands of both his burgeoning career and his studies. “Music was my salvation, the thing I loved most and did best,” Clark said. “Whatever was fun, I’d go do that.” After winning a banjo competition in 1950, Clark was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. However, it wasn’t until 1960, when Clark performed with Wanda Jackson, that his career truly took off. After opening for Jackson in Las Vegas, he launched his own headlining tour, remaining on the road for 345 consecutive nights… and earning him his very own show in Sin City. In 1962, Clark released his debut album, “The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark.” This album spawned his first hit, “The Tips of My Fingers,” which included an orchestra and strings section. In 1963, Clark appeared on both The Tonight Show and American Bandstand, showing off a sense of humor and personality that not many fans even knew existed. “Humor is a blessing to me,” said Clark. “My earliest recollections are of looking at something and seeing the lighter side. But it’s always spontaneous. I couldn’t write a comedy skit for someone else.” This point of view and this talent helped Clark become the host of Hee Haw, a country music variety show. He helmed the program for 24 years and his guests included Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Loretta Lynn. Clark is survived by Barbara, his wife of 61 years, and his five children. Although an exact date and time has not yet been announced, a memorial is expected to be held in the coming days in Tulsa. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2018: In Memoriam

Riley Keough Nipples of the Day

I am a massive Elvis fan. I think he’s amazing. I spent the weekend watching an Elvis Documentary, not once, but 3 times. I am not even joking. I have never been inside Graceland, and I don’t think his Grand Daughter, Scientologist Riley Keough has any real grasp on her legend of a grandfather, since he died when her mom was 9, but the fact that she’s his direct lineage, is pretty fucking cool in and of itself, probably the only reason she’s got friends really, I mean that and the fact that her mom likely inherited all of Elvis’ royalties, which obviously will trickle down to her, but who knows that Colonial Parker had some other plans for out man Elvis, and probably fucked him in some shady deals…when Elvis to sing man…before Hollywood Ruined him with shitty movies when dude had far more vision and soul that Hollywood allowed him to have…which funny enough is what made Riley Keough…Hollywood…is that Irony? I don’t know…I didn’t graduate highshool…..but she’s in TV shows, movies, etc… AND NOW SHE IS IN NIPPLE SHIRTS…
