While the gymnast finished last in yesterday’s uneven bars, she remains one of this year’s U.S. darlings, capturing team Gold and individual Gold in the all-around competition. The newly-retired Olympic swimming legend, whose work in these games (and all future games) is done, made his red carpet debut with his very pretty, newly-revealed girlfriend at an event for Speedo, one of Phelps’ primary sponsors. Here’s Michael with Megan Rossee at the event … They didn’t do much press, but Michael Phelps’ girlfriend did say she’s doing well so far handling the torrent of publicity after being identified. The 27-year-old has been linked to seemingly endless women in recent years, but has probably dated none of them seriously. Training and all. Now that he’s won a record 22 Olympic medals and called it a career, perhaps that will change. Last night’s public debut certainly suggests it. “Megan and Michael have been taking things slow leading up to the Olympics, but they are excited to spend more time together,” says a source. “Megan is a beautiful person, inside and out.” They’ve supposedly been together five months, so it sounds like Phelps and Rossee are going strong! Here’s Phelps with Megan Rossee, a 25-year-old model and L.A. resident: “She and Phelps began dating in January (of this year) and things started to heat up just prior to the Olympics in London,” says the source. Hilariously, Megan was in a love triangle with Phelps and Lauren Conrad’s ex! “At the time when they began dating, [ The Hills’ ] Doug Reinhardt was crushing on her too, but she chose to be with Michael instead.” According to the celebrity gossip site, Phelps was smitten from the start: “Michael knew that he had to leave for the Olympics and not wanting to give up on their relationship, he flew Megan out to the trials in Omaha, then to London for The Games.” A candid photo of Michael Phelps, girlfriend and medals in hand, shows him celebrating in London and beaming for the camera. She used to be an avid soccer player; she’s now an aspiring model and works at Hollywood’s Blok nightclub. Her Model Mayhem profile lists her at 5’9″ with blue-green eyes; a go-getter with an All-American girl flavor … whatever that means. According to the Hollyscoop source, Ryan Lochte ‘s chief rival has been urging her for some time to quit her job as a cocktail waitress. “He wants her to travel the world with him but she hasn’t made her decision yet to quit. She’s heavily considering it,” the source says. From the looks of the photo above, she might be leaning towards “yes.” Nice looking couple. You know, if they’re really a couple. Phelps is falsely linked to around 10 women per week, so it’s hard to be sure.
Elton John has fired yet another salvo in his strange, ongoing feud with Madonna, slamming the recent antics of the “f–king fairground stripper.” Whoa. During an interview with Australian TV show, John bristled at the mere mention of the singer, saying, “She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over.” He didn’t stop there, ranting that “she looks like a f–king fairground stripper” and ripping her recent gun-pulling stunt and dance-pop catalog. “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made another record like Ray of Light,” he added, “and stayed away from the dance stuff.” The 65-year-old John said that the Queen of Pop should “just be a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.” John’s beef, or at least the latest iteration of it, may stem from her quasi-feud with Lady Gaga, godmother to Elton’s 19-month-old son, Zachary. “[Madonna’s] been so horrible to Gaga,” John told Sunday Night . In May, Madonna performed a curious mash-up of “Born This Way” and “Express Yourself” that many saw as a Lady Gaga diss , not a tribute. John’s feud with Madge goes back to 2004, when he accused her of lip-syncing, a point he reiterated earlier this year before the Super Bowl. It looks like Robert Pattinson has Kristen Stewart beat in at least one regard: the actor most likely showered on Friday. Amidst reports that Stewart is an unkempt mess , sources say that Pattinson actually made a public appearance over the weekend, stopping by The Deer Lodge in Ojai, California on Friday night with a few friends. An employee of the cowboy-themed establishment confirms that he heard the same, telling Radar Online that he was not working that evening, but “several people” informed him ” Pattinson was here enjoying the music” and seemed to be in “good spirits.” The bar is located about 90 minutes from the home Rob and Kristen shared in Los Angeles and would make sense as a locale for Rob to frequent at the moment, considering he’s rumored to be residing in Reese Witherspoon’s vacation home . It’s situated in Ojai. An unnamed patron also confirmed the handsome sighting, Tweeting afterward: “Awesome night in Ojai. Got to hang with a rowdy bunch of Brits & one of them happened to be Edward… He wasn’t moping and the girls were definitely just his friend… I stood next to them at the bar. He wasn’t drunk. Just taking in the scene. Because Nick Delpopolo was given the boot from the Games after testing positive for marijuana. And the U.S. judo team member hilariously claims it’s due to the accidental ingestion of a pot brownie. Delpopolo was expelled from the Olympics last week, while his accreditation was stripped and his seventh place finish expunged. But the 23-year old swears he never meant to get high. The dirty test was “caused by my inadvertent consumption of food that I did not realize had been baked with marijuana,” Delpopolo says in a statement, taking responsibility for his actions and adding: “I apologize to U.S. Olympic Committee, to my teammates, and to my fans, and I am embarrassed by this mistake.” He’s probably really hungry right about now as well.
