Last week, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry ended their feud , officially bringing an end to one of the lengthiest and most entertaining popstar beefs of all time. The truce was announced by Katy’s cameo in the video for Taylor’s new single “You Need to Calm Down.” In case Katy’s presence in the clip didn’t send the message clearly enough, Perry literally dressed as the hamburger to Katy’s french fries, and the two of them hugged it out on camera. Katy tweeted a pic of the historic cease-fire along with a caption reading, “This meal is BEEF-free.” In other words, the singers are bludgeoning fans with their friendship the same way they used to beat us over the head with their feud. But even though Taylor, in particular, seemed to glory in the gossip repeatedly throwing shade at her rival and even went so far as to write a song about Katy , she now says the media is to blame for the whole mess. Addressing the rekindled friendship in a new interview with Buzzfeed , Taylor recalls the exact moment at which she and Katy buried the hatchet: “We have been on really good terms for a while. But the first time we saw each other was at this party, and it was just very clear to both of us that everything was different. That we had grown up,” Swift says. “That we had grown past allowing ourselves to be pitted against each other,” Taylor continues. “It just was really, really clear that we remembered how much we had in common. “Both of us have been in a really good place for a while, but I don’t know if either of us knew if we were gonna talk about it publicly.” Okay, obviously we’re a bit biased on this one, but Taylor pretending like her beef with Katy is an invention of the media and that the two of them were “pitted against each other” is some straight-up horse pucky, even by the standards of the post-truth #FakeNews era. For yeeeears, Taylor took shots at Katy every chance she got as an audience numbering in the tens of millions hung on every word. Katy was no shrinking violet throughout the whole thing, but she never teed off quite like Taylor did. The lyrics to “Bad Blood” stop just short of Tupac-Biggie diss track territory, and Tay basically spent all of 2015 rolling with a massive posse of lanky friends in case sh-t got real at a red carpet event. This was not a case of the media deciding it would be cool if two pop stars didn’t get along. No, this was a case of two pop stars (but Taylor in particular) taking every opportunity to remind the public that they don’t get along. It’s great that these two have decided to let bygones be bygones — but attempting to rewrite the past is a surefire way to wind up repeating your previous mistakes. Source: Daniel Zuchnik / Getty Janet Mock Signs Landmark Multi-Million Dollar Deal With Netflix Writer, director, producer and activist Janet Mock is making history thanks to a historic deal with Netflix. According to Variety , Mock signed a three-year, multimillion-dollar pact with the streaming company, giving them exclusive rights to her TV series and a first-look option on feature film projects. The deal makes Mock the first out transgender woman to call major creative shots at a big content company. As part of Mock’s agreement, she will serve as an executive producer and director on Ryan Murphy ‘s forthcoming Netflix series Hollywood. Murphy is the man behind such hit series as Glee, American Horror Story and Pose . Despite being apart of the Netflix brand, Mock will still be allowed to continue as a director and writer on Pose , which is an LGBTQ drama set in New York City’s ballroom scene. On top of all this, the Netflix deal will allow Mock to create programs that employ and highlight communities that have historically been marginalized by Hollywood — including women of color and trans people. “As someone who grew up in front of the TV screen, whether that was watching talk shows or family sitcoms or VHS films, I never thought that I would be embraced,” Mock said in a statement. “And more than embraced. Given not just a seat at the table but a table of my own making.” Mock says she hopes the deal “will be a huge signal boost, industrywide, to empower people and equip them to tell their own stories.” She’s currently interviewing creative executives for her yet-to-be-named production banner. Projects being developed include a college-set drama exploring a young trans woman’s life, a series about New Orleans after the abolishment of slavery and a reboot of a celebrated sitcom. The movie features Brendan Sexton as a serial murderer … and DMX is playing Detective White, who’s trying to track down the killer. Tara Reid , Eric Roberts and Aly Mang are also starring in the film. X was able to land the role after Michael Madsen ( Kill Bill ) caught a DUI charge in Malibu back in April and was booted from the film. The director, Steve Stanulis , tells TMZ … when his casting director suggested X for the role, he knew it was a perfect fit, and the rapper didn’t even have to audition. Steve says he has no doubt DMX is “going to bring a different dynamic to the role.” Judging from the fact that Tara Reid is considered a lead in the film, we’re guessing that Chronicle of A Serial Killer will be a straight to DVD or TV production, but we can’t hate at all. Ryan Twyman was sitting inside a vehicle on June 6 when LAPD officers approached and began firing over 30 rounds according to witness accounts. KTLA reports : Ryan Twyman, a father of three, was shot dead in the parking lot of an apartment complex at San Pedro and 132nd streets on the evening of June 6. Deputies had approached a car Twyman was inside just before firing shots, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. He was still inside a vehicle when he died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to corner’s officials. Speculation about the number of times Twyman was shot has surfaced in dozens of social media posts in the days since. But the Sheriff’s Department has released few details — no information about how many times he was shot and no description of any crime he may have been suspected of. The department has, however, confirmed that no weapon was found at the scene. Compton rapper The Game took to Instagram to address Los Angeles authorities about Twyman’s death. “I can remember us having a conversation about bettering Los Angeles awhile back on both sides of the ball. You were genuine & from what I could see a good human that wanted change just as much as us. Well now I’m calling on you @mayorofla Eric Garcetti…….
