Joan Rivers on Angelina Jolie: Idiotic, Auschwitz-Like!

Joan Rivers is not known for mincing words, but she took it to a new level after the 2012 Oscars, describing Angelina Jolie in some very controversial terms. Angelina’s bizarre on-stage leg thrust pose pretty much stole the show Sunday, but not necessarily in a good way, drawing criticism and hilarious parodies galore. Most were in good fun, but Fashion Police star Rivers tore her a new one. Angelina Jolie Presents at Oscars “Angelina Jolie looked like a fool the way she posed,” Rivers said . “She took herself right out of that superstar category because you now realize she stands in front of a mirror to figure out [what she looks like.]” Daughter Melissa Rivers agreed: “She was demystified! She demystified herself and it’s unfortunate because it always looks so effortless. You’re thinking, how can this one individual be so glamorous? It’s because she practices!” Joan continued her rant against Angelina and her leg … “Have you ever seen anybody stand with their hand on a hip with a leg thrown out to open an envelope? No. and you want to say, you idiot!” “You brought us back to the fact and we’ve all forgotten that you used to wear blood around your neck and French kiss your brother!” She’s not a fan, suffice it to say … but then things got weird. When asked whether Angelina Jolie is too skinny , Rivers commented on the actress’ thin arms, saying that she “looks like Auschwitz adjacent.” NOTE TO ASPIRING COMEDIANS: Among the topics you probably don’t need to broach in order to make your point? Concentration camps.

Julia Roberts Muses on Fame in Vanity Fair

Julia Roberts is perhaps one of the most recognizable women in the world. She talks about how she comes to grips with that in the new issue of Vanity Fair . The Mirror, Mirror actress and mom to twins Hazel and Finn, 7, and son Henry, 4, says her children with husband Danny Moder have no concept of fame. “On a crowded street, and somebody noticed me, and then another person noticed. Somebody said as we were walking past, ‘Oh, that’s Julia Roberts.'” “We all just kind of kept going, and then Finn turned around and said, ‘Yeah, my mom’s Julia Robinson,'” she said. “That’s what gives you perspective.” It could be Robinson, it could be Johnson, because it has nothing to do with me as a person,” says the Oscar-winner, who gained some perspective herself. Curious about what life is like for children born into famous families, Roberts talked to her Larry Crowne costar Grace Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep. “Grace comes up and goes, ‘Gosh, it’s so sweet seeing all your kids on the set. It reminds me of when I was little, and I would go see my mom at work.'” “I asked, ‘Were you happy?’ Suddenly, I thought, here is a source of information.” “I said, ‘How old were you when you realized your mom was Meryl Streep?’ She said, ‘I think I was probably nine when I put that all together.'” “I said, ‘Were you cool with it?’ She said, ‘Yeah, it was fine. There was no trauma or anything like that.’ So hearing that was hopeful.” Roberts doesn’t just worry about the future of her three children, she’s also concerned with today’s up-and-coming actors living under a microscope. “The business is so different; you can never be that new girl that has that moment of, ‘Where’d she come from?'” Roberts tells Vanity Fair. “There’s the express elevator and there’s rehab. It’s so awful; nobody gets a fair trial-and-error period that everybody deserves and everybody needs.”

What’s Next for Paula Abdul?

She’s currently among the nation’s unemployed, but Paula Abdul says that won’t remain the case for long. “I will definitely be returning to television,” the ousted X Factor judge told reporters this week while promoting FemBody Nutrition, a line of nutritional supplements available at GNC. “I am in the middle of many network meetings, and I’m being pitched a whole bunch of different ideas.” Abdul says she has no hard feelings toward Simon Cowell, or anyone in general. The former Los Angeles Lakers Girl and hit singer appears to be in a positive place, saying: “Right now life is good, and I never worry about reinvention. I think it’s the most exciting thing to do.” Fair enough. But let’s plan Paula’s future for her, shall we? What do you think should be her next professional move?
