America’s Got Talent Season 14: Did the Right Act Win?

America most definitely has talent. After yet another summer of impressive singer, dancers, magicians and plenty more took to the NBC stage on a weekly basis, this much has  been made clear. But who in America has the most talent? According to this beloved reality series? This question answered on the America’s Got Talent Season 14 finale on Wednesday night. Cue the drumroll and then cue the congratulatory message to… … KODI LEE! After weeks of competition, Lee was been crowned the latest champion yesterday evening, besting fellow finalists opera singer Emanne Beasha, violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa, dance troupe Light Balance Kids, singer Benicio Bryant and Ndlovu Youth Choir in the process. “I feel so amazing,” he told Terry Crews after winning. “Unbelievable!” In many ways, this result felt preordained a long time ago. And also well-deserved. The 22 year-old singer and pianist is blind and autistic, yet neither of those attributes prevented him from putting on incredible performances all season long. He run to the title started back when he earned Gabrielle Union’s golden buzzer in the first audition episode of the season. In addition to the honor of being the winner, Lee takes home $1 million and will headline shows from November 7-10 at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Along with his memorable vocal abilities, Lee’s life story quickly made him a Season 14  fan favorite. The Lake Elsinore, California, native was born with optic nerve hypoplasia and diagnosed with autism at age 4. His mother, Tina, accompanied him on stage for the entire competition Truly inspiring stuff all around. “He’s making people believe in something they didn’t even know is attainable. He’s magic,” Union previously told People Magazine of Lee. Speaking to the press about an hour after the finale, Lee exclaimed: “Heck, yeah! I’m a winner!” The finale features performances from the likes of Cher, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Leona Lewis.  It also gave us a surprise reunion between Simon Cowell and his former fellow American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, who secretly performed with Light Balance Kids and only revealed herself at the end of the performance. Much to Cowell’s shock. In the end, though, it all came back to Lee and down to Lee. “Everybody rooted for him and he’s probably one of the most popular winners we’ve had on one of these shows,” Cowell said, concluding: “He’s got an amazing talent. … The guy’s just an absolute star. He’s one of those contestants you’re going to remember. You’ll always remember that first audition.” CONGRATS TO KODI LEE!

Valerie Fairman: 16 and Pregnant Star Arrested for Prostitution

Most of the ladies who star in MTV reality shows about getting knocked up while still in high school have gone on to become revered pillars of their communities, but not everyone can be a fine upstanding citizen like Jenelle Evans, ya know? That brings us to the sad case of 16 and Pregnant star Valerie Fairman. TMZ is reporting that Fairman was arrested for prostitution today after cops in New Castle, Delaware caught her in a sting operation. Fairman, now 21, was arrested along with seven other women, in what must have been the most exciting day in suburban Delaware cop history. Between people getting knocked up just to be on the show , and slugging their baby daddies , 16 and Pregnant already doesn’t have the greatest reputation, and Valerie’s arrest certainly won’t help matters. Fairman, who starred in season 2 of the controversial series is best remembered for seeming more concerned about her imploding relationship with her boyfriend than with the fact that she was about bring a freakin’ child into the world. Valerie has yet to speak on her arrest, but defense attorneys are expected to argue that it wasn’t Fairman. Sorry, we had to. Rozlyn Papa got the boot from The Bachelor after it came out that she was totally going a crew member on the show. 8. Mariah vs. Nicki! Must Be Nice: The Highest Paid Black Actors’ On Television (And Some Notable Others)

Black actors might demand big checks for work on the silver screen, but for TV, not so much… A List Of The Highest Paid Black Actors On TV Via Examiner Simon Cowell an executive producer and co-owner of “The X Factor” and “Got Talent” TV franchises, is ranked at the top of TV Guide’s list of the highest-paid TV stars of 2013. He made $95 million in the past year, according to TV Guide, which made the announcement on Aug. 20, 2013. The full list is in TV Guide’s Aug. 26 to Sept. 1, 2013 issues, which goes on sale on Aug. 22, 2013. Cowell is a judge on “The X Factor” U.S., which airs in the U.S. on Fox. According to TV Guide, Kelly Rowland (who joined “The X Factor” U.S. judging panel in 2013) is the next-highest-paid judge on the show: Her “X Factor” salary is $2.5 million per season. That’s about the same amount that TV Guide says Paula Abdul made as a judge “The X Factor” U.S. in 2011. Abdul lasted one season on the show before she was fired, along with judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones. Although TV Guide did not report the salaries of the other two “X Factor” U.S. judges of 2013 (Demi Lovato and Paulina Rubio), the Hollywood Reporter claims that Lovato’s “X Factor” salary was doubled to slightly more than $2 million (compared to her reported $1 million “X Factor” salary in 2012), while Rubio’s “X Factor” salary in 2013 is about $1.5 million. Sharon Osbourne (who is a judge on “The X Factor” U.K.) is also on the list, which ranks the stars’ salaries only for U.S. TV shows. Therefore, only Osbourne’s reported $1 million annual salary for co-hosting CBS’s “The Talk” was included for her inclusion on the list. Osbourne’s “X Factor” U.K. salary is about £1.5 million (or $2.35 million in U.S. dollars), according to the Daily Mirror and The Sun. Cowell and Howard Stern were each tied for No. 1 on Forbes’ 2013 list of highest-paid TV personalities list, which counted the stars’ total salaries from June 2012 to June 2013. Cowell and Stern earned $95 million each in that time period, according to Forbes. Suffice to say, all the folks that are REALLY breaking the bank on television are white, but you can hit the flippy to see where WE rank and just how far African-Americans still have to go in comparison to their paler peers. Gene Simmons’ Daughter Sophie Auditions For X Factor

Gene Simmons’ daughter did not spend Father’s Day with her dad. Instead, Sophie Simmons flew out to San Francisco to try out for The X Factor. While Gene and Sophie do have a close relationship, Sophie decided to spend Sunday with Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. “This isn’t about my dad. This is all about my audition,” Sophie reportedly told the judges, asking to be judged on merit and not by her surname. Sophie may or may not have made it to the next round, but with a rock star for a dad, she’s likely not afraid of performing on the stage at least. Speaking of dad, he wasn’t feeling snubbed. Gene actually took a private jet out to see his daughter as she tried out for the Fox show. Awww. Other highlights of the San Francisco auditions: Britney Spears meeting a familiar face, a gay contestant who came out publicly after auditioning in front of The X Factor panel. Demi Lovato’s hair !
