‘Dark Knight Rises’ Midnight Tickets Going For $150

Online scalpers are hoping fans can’t wait even a few hours longer to see Christopher Nolan’s final Batman movie, in The Weekly Rising. By Kevin P. Sullivan Christian Bale As ‘Batman’ Photo: How important is ” The Dark Knight Rises ” to you? Would you pay $150 to be the first to see Christopher Nolan ‘s conclusion to his Batman trilogy at a midnight showing? Well, scalpers on eBay and Craigslist are hoping you will. Advanced tickets for “The Dark Knight Rises” went on sale a week ago, and midnight shows quickly filled up, taking away opportunities from fans hoping to be the first to learn the fate of Gotham City and its Dark Knight. Since then, some of those tickets have gone back up for sale, with price tags inflated 80 percent in some cases, ScreenCrush reports. A quick search on eBay revealed that not only are those reports true, but in some cases, the price has even gone up. The most common price is staying around the $150 mark, with tickets for the “Dark Knight Trilogy” marathon soaring even higher. But is there something to the ridiculously high price? What makes those early showings so much more valuable than a matinee the following Sunday? There certainly is something to being among the first people to see it, but that gives the ticket-holder little more than bragging rights. The idea of looking forward to a movie now requires that you see it as soon as possible. After waiting four years, scalpers are betting that waiting just a few hours more will be enough to make fans cough up an extra $135 to see “The Dark Knight Rises” sooner. Many would say that seeing the film as early as possible is the best way to avoid the deluge of spoilers on Twitter and Facebook. There have been a handful of minor spoilers posted online, but for the most part, the story and secrets of “The Dark Knight Rises” have stayed surprisingly unspoiled. The ad campaigns have focused on a few key questions, like whether Bruce Wayne will survive the final movie. A representative from the online ticket outlet Fandango said the company’s standing policy is that any ticket re-sold is declared invalid, so if you are considering purchasing a set of tickets for $300, you might want to consider this. Though the policy would be difficult to enforce, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re weighing your options. We want to hear from you: How much would you be willing to pay to see “The Dark Knight Rises” at midnight on July 20 on an IMAX screen? Leave your responses in the comments below or tweet them via @KPSull, and we will discuss later this week. Lil Wayne Speaks On Pulling Nicki Minaj From Hot 97 Summer Jam

‘No person that works with me will be disrespected in my presence as long as I’m on this planet,’ Weezy tells MTV News of his decision. By Rob Markman, with reporting by FLX Lil Wayne Photo: All Weezy wants is a little respect. After Nicki Minaj was insulted by a Hot 97 radio DJ, Lil Wayne made an executive decision and pulled his Young Money queen from the station’s Summer Jam concert . When MTV News caught up with Tunechi to talk about the incident for the first time, he didn’t throw stones or hurl insults at the New York City station, but simply stressed the importance of a certain seven-letter word. “That’s a female; first and foremost Nicki Minaj is a female. I don’t know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how,” the multiplatinum rapper told MTV News on Saturday while backstage at Hot 107.9 ‘s Birthday Bash in Atlanta. Minaj was slotted to close out the yearly rap extravaganza on June 3 and was planning to bring out Nas, Lauryn Hill, Foxy Brown, Cam’ron and Lil Wayne during her set. That plan went south after outspoken Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg downed Nicki’s pop single “Starships” in front of concertgoers, prompting Wayne to pull the plug on all YMCMB Summer Jam performances, including Nicki’s and DJ Khaled’s. “As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything,” Weezy told us. “I pulled her from the show because … no person that works with me will be disrespected in my presence as long as I’m on this planet.” Wayne feels Nicki should have gotten the royal treatment from the radio station and its employees. “I expect the red carpet, in her manner; the pink carpet should be laid out for her,” he said. “It’s just an executive move, no salt, no bad feelings, no hard feelings.” Many, including Hot 97 veteran DJ Funkmaster Flex, criticized Minaj for not taking the stage, but Lauryn Hill issued a statement supporting Nicki’s decision. “I don’t have details on exactly what transpired between the station and the artists, but I do support artists standing by their beliefs and walking with integrity,” Weezy agrees. “I feel like a woman should be respected at all times, therefore I made the right decision,” he said. Kanye West, Fat Joe Channel Native Tongues On ‘Pride N Joy’

Fat Joe tells MTV News his latest single is ‘what hip-hop is supposed to be.’ By Rob Markman Fat Joe Photo: MTV News During the early 1990s, the Native Tongues was one of rap’s most influential collectives. Comprised of groups A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and Jungle Brothers, the crew collaborated on beloved hip-hop tracks like De La’s “Buddy” and “A Roller Skating Jam Named ‘Saturdays’.” It’s unifying tracks like those that inspired Fat Joe ‘s latest single “Pride N Joy.” “That’s exactly what it was,” Fat Joe said of the song’s Native Tongues comparisons. “It was like Native Tongues, it was like crazy, everybody was in there, and that’s what hip-hop is supposed to be.” The track was produced by Kanye West and brought Miguel, Roscoe Dash, Jadakiss, Mos Def, Busta Rhymes and DJ Khaled all together in the studio. It was Yeezy who put the plan in motion. ” ‘Ye hit me up and said, ‘Yo Joe, it’s time.’ He don’t even get on the phone, so when he said it was time, I flew into New York,” Joe explained while backstage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert on Sunday. “We were up in there working in the lab for like three, four days.” Originally the track featured a bridge sung by R&B stars Trey Songz and Miguel, but West felt the song was better served with a harder rap vibe. “He was like, ‘Yo we gotta turn it into hip-hop, we gotta chant the hook. He called a bunch of people, I called a bunch of people, they came down,” Crack said. “And even if she all about the money, I don’t really care,” the MCs chant in unison while clapping their hands. “We was all in there together and it was an ill vibe,” the Terror Squad leader said describing the scene in the studio. “We brought the microphone outside the studio and no Styrofoam [sound proofing] and everybody together just going in.” Though he is already two singles deep (“Pride N Joy” and the Chris Brown-assisted “Another Round”), Joe isn’t going to rush his eleventh album. There is currently no release date. “I’m taking it back to the ’80s, when artists where putting out like four singles in a row,” he said. “That way you smash ’em and the fans officially know, ‘Yo, this dude got nothin’ but hits on this thing, I’ma go cop the album.’ ” What do you think of “Pride N Joy”?
