Kylie Jenner, like it or not, is one of the most popular celebrities right now. It's a tough pill to swallow for sure, but it's true. The youth of our poor, confused country tend to idolize her, the rest of us tend to see her as a prime example of what's wrong with our society. Either way, people are always talking about her , and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop anytime soon. Especially not since she's got a brand new reality show of her very own that's all set to premiere this weekend. But now, in a brand new sneak peek for the premiere episode of Life of Kylie, we're learning that although Kylie's super, super popular, she still doesn't feel the love. “I was the outcast, I guess, in a lot of ways, growing up,” she explains. “And I still feel like an outcast in different ways now.” The issue now, she says, is that she “can't relate to a lot of people, so it's like this little world. I do feel like an outcast.” And so because of these feelings she has, she speaks with the mother of teenage boy named Albert. Albert's mom cries to Kylie during a FaceTime conversation about how Albert can't find a date to his prom — she said that he keeps asking her what's wrong with him that makes the girls uninterested. “It's not cool,” Kylie explains to us all. “Kids are mean these days and it's not right to treat people like that.” And so since she was never able to go to the prom herself , she tells Albert's sweet mother that she'll be his date … but we'll have to watch the show to see how it all turns out. So this is nice, isn't it? Getting to see a different side of this girl? Sure, her lips are still about to pop off her face and fly away, but it seems like she's finally able to show a little bit of heart instead of a little bit of body . Welp . That didn’t take long. Siesta Key has aired an entirety of one episode on MTV and the show is already facing threats of a boycott. The show was actually facing a boycott before it even aired last night’s premiere ; and this is why… Prior to MTV airing the opening installment, footage of a shark being dragged to its death went viral. And while Siesta Key star Alex Kompothecras was not the one doing the dragging, he is a close friend of the main perpetrator and that’s enough for animal lovers. Outrage over the incident spread quickly around the Internet, with a Facebook page titled “Boycott Siesta Key MTV” earning over 8,000 Likes in just a few days time. “Over the past few days, the connection between the production of the Siesta Key show and the horrific videos and photos of animal abuse have come to light,” reads a Facebook entry for a protest of Monday night’s premiere event. This is the profile photo of the Boycott Siesta Key MTV account: The premiere party, which had been scheduled to take place yesterday in Siesta Key (d’uh) was actually canceled at the last minute. Due to this protest? In part. But Alex also received a number of death threats, which the Facebook group does NOT condone. “We have repeatedly said that we do not condone any type of violence of threats of any kind! We come from a place of love. Thanks for all the support,” reads a message on the site. Alex’s father, a chiropractor named Gary Kompothecras, came up with the idea for the series, which is produced by the same team behind Laguns Beach and which will track the lives of eight privileged friends in the Siesta Key, Dr. Kompothecras wants his son to be the focal point of the show; he wants Alex to basically be the next Lauren Conrad. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Dr. Kompothecras did not clarify whether the viewing party for the premiere was canceled due to the shark video and subsequent death threats. But he did hint at other underlying issues. “I wouldn’t say that’s the only reason,” he said mysteriously. “There are other reasons.” Alex, meanwhile, maintains his innocence. “I had absolutely nothing to do with the shark video,” he wrote on the aforementioned Facebook page, adding of the person at the center of it: “Yes he’s a friend of mine, but no I don’t agree with what he did. Check your facts before you go posting on my page. Thanks.” MTV has not commented on the controversy. But it did air the premiere, of course. On Sunday night, Game of Thrones set a ratings record. With 10.1 million viewers tuning in for the original broadcast, “Dragonstone” became the most-watched season premiere in the history of HBO. Heck, it even shattered the mark for the highest number of concurrent viewers on HBO Go and HBO Now. This doesn’t really come as a shock, of course. We all know Game of Thrones is a big deal in pop culture. But the above records only tell a small part of how popular Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 1 turned out to be. For further, truly insightful analysis, we turn to the good folks at… Porn Hub?!? Apparently! The website has kept a running tally for years on the effect Game of Thrones episodes have on its traffic… and it just released a chart that depicts how viewership dropped 4.5% this past Sunday night when compared to typical Sunday nights on Porn Hub. As you can see below, this is usually a popular evening for men (or women!) to log online and ogle some bare butts, boobs, penises or vaginas. They may even masturbate to these body parts and/or to what these body parts are doing to each other. But Game of Thrones has been known to feature its own fair share of boobs and butts. Moreover, there are dragons! And White Walkers! And palace intrigue, murderous young members of the Stark family and even Ed Sheerhan ! This season’s opener provided a slightly more significant drop than last year’s premiere, when traffic was down only 4.1 percent. However, if last season is any indication, every Sunday night will see a dip going forward, as the following Porn Hub chart illustrates: Following a Game 6 finale in which hundreds of people died and Cersei took over the Iron Throne, the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere was pretty tame. But it did move various characters in various players, setting up clear battle lines and setting the stage for two major battles to come: Dany and company against Cersei and company. Everyone against The Night King. Both of these storylines are interesting enough that people around the Internet would prefer to see how they play out instead of seeing how porn stars online scream out in ecstasy.
