Been Booked: Regina King’s Least Talked About (But Still Legendary) Roles

Originally posted here:

Source: J. Merritt / Getty Ever since winning her very first Academy Award for If Beale Street Could Talk , folks have been digging through the crates and realizing that Regina King has been a superstar for over 40 years. “And yes I still remember the theme son to 227! I forgot Regina King was in this show too” – @DymonGyrl It may be an age thing that causes people to remember King from various different roles. Gen X certainly remembers her from 227 and all the classic 90’s films, but most Millennials grew up at a time where she was just Huey and Riley from the Boondocks. Then, there’s a generation who are just learning as they go along. “Hold up!!!!!! Regina King is the voice behind Riley and Huey from Boondocks?? Bless that beautiful woman” – @mangua But that’s the beauty about being a young legend and household name — everyone from the grandparents to the 13-year cartoon watchers know who you are. Which is why it came as a surprise to many that King is just now receiving her first Oscar after all these years. “It’s never too late to say I’m happy Regina King won an Oscar, but she won my heart way before that.” – @EdwardVidaurre We’ve seen Regina King do a lot in her four decade career. From directing to starring to stealing the show with her small but powerful rold, every screen King touches turns to culture gold. But in between her huge career moments like 227, The Boondocks and Beale Street, there are many other roles that she nailed and most people don’t even discuss. Some don’t even remember that King was in most of these films. “I had even forgot that Regina King was in Jerry Maguire… damn” – @Lainefellipe In the spirit of keeping her lengthy legacy alive, hit the flip to check out these forgotten about, yet classic Regina King roles.

Michael Avenatti Turning Over Another R. Kelly Sex Tape

Source: Handout / Getty Michael Avenatti is going in for the kill. Reportedly, the outspoken lawyer is turning over yet another R. Kelly sex tape to authorities. Actually, it’s more like a sexual assault tape since the victim was reportedly just 14-year-old at the time the film was made. Reports TMZ : Sources familiar with the case tell TMZ … attorney Michael Avenatti will turn over a 55-minute VHS video Monday to Cook County prosecutors. We’re told the video shows R. Kelly having sex with the same 14-year-old girl depicted in the first video Avenatti obtained, which was shot in 1999. This second video was shot around 2000. We’re told, just like the first video, there are multiple references to the girl being 14 years old. Our sources say R. Kelly is repeatedly “coaching” the girl through various sexual situations. At one point, we’re told R. Kelly is seen choking the girl while having anal intercourse. Our sources also say there’s a part where he takes some sort of lotion and “sprays” it all over her face. We’re told he then chokes her, mounts her from behind and turns her face to camera for a reaction shot. Word is Avenatti is also seeking a third video. Also, he plans to go after R. Kelly’s “enablers” who have allegedly aided him in getting away with supposed abuses for over 20 years. R. Kelly has been indicted and charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse. The R&B singer is still in jail as he scrounges up $1M bond. Keep his passport. — Photo: Chicago PD/Getty
