Steph Curry Unveiled His New Low-Top Under Ar

Twitter Relentlessly Roasts Steph Curry’s Shoes Steph Curry’s newest shoe probably isn’t exactly going to fly off the shelves when it hits stores. The Under Armour Curry 2-Low “Chef” was unveiled to the public on Thursday evening…and sadly they look quite a bit like the thick-soled support sneakers elderly women wear to their geriatric fitness classes. They look like something best paired with dad jeans and a vaguely racist demeanor. They look like “this one time, at band camp…” Naturally, Twitter wouldn’t let an opportunity for a roasting session like this one pass by un-seized. Hit the flip to enjoy the relentless slander leveled by the multiple names and situations the tweets came up with for Curry’s lowkey atrocities. Twitter / Under Armour

James Bond Snubs 3-D, At Least For Now

He’s always packin’ the niftiest of gadgetry and he’s reinvented himself throughout the generations, remaining forever in his prime, but one en vogue technology James Bond is not considering is 3-D. Producers of the 50 year-old franchise say they have no interest in making a Bond film a three-dimensional format despite the rise of the medium – and its box office prowess – since the last Bond film, Quantum of Solace debuted back in 2008. Avatar re-ushered in 3-D in a massive way to audiences back in 2009, grossing over $2 billion that year in the U.S. alone, while Summer-season ’12 release Marvel’s The Avengers scored well into the 10-figure gross mark. And Ang Lee’s ventured into 3-D with his anticipated Life of Pi due out in late November. Unless you can do something as well as [ Avatar ], it’s probably not worth looking at.” Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson have spearheaded the last seven Bond films. Wilson added that some have poked around at the idea of converting some of the old Bond films into 3-D, perhaps taking a cue from Disney animated classics in recent years, but he called the suggestions “more of a novelty.” One piece of visual stimulation Skyfall is embracing is IMAX. The film will be released there a day early on November 8th in North America. So, Bond has mostly adapted to the times. Should the 3-D prove to be more than a medium-term fancy, seeing Daniel Craig as 007 flying, falling, shooting and in your face with millions of adoring cross-generational fans may yet happen. Craig has signed on for two more Bond films, which will be the 24th and 25th installments. Neither is planned as a 3-D pic, but said Broccoli: “Who knows? We’ll see if things change in the future.” [ Source: A.P. ]

South Park’s Butters Tells Mr. & Mrs. Ben Affleck ‘Argo F-Yourself!’

South Park is either getting seriously meta, or bizarrely free-associative in its advanced age.  The beginning of Wednesday night’s new episode of the Comedy Central series saw the relentlessly cheerful and naively optimistic character Butters Stotch become a pint-sized rageaholic that is initially attributed to his Hawaiian roots, but later turns out to be about the charmed life of Ben Affleck . After arriving on the island of Kaua’i to engage in a rite of passage that, presumably, will cure him of the furies, Butters inexplicably vents about Affleck, wondering how after the mediocrity of Daredevil ,  the actor/director “can hit a home run that everyone loves,” a reference to Affleck’s critically well-received Argo . “You shouldn’t be able to be good looking, and be with Jennifer Lopez and be a good director,” Butters wails ” Argo is a good movie! It holds up! Ben Affleck has everything, Braaaaa!” (Affleck and Lopez were featured in a famous 2003 South Park episode called “Fat Butt and Pancake Head.” At one point, Butters summons up enough rage to sink a cruise ship with a golf ball. His battle cry: “Stupid Ben Affleck!” The cure for his vexation: Jennifer Garner . Butters cools his jets when someone points out that Affleck is no longer with JLo and is now married to Garner. “He’s just married to Jennifer Garner?  Oh my gosh, I feel so much better!” Butters says, setting up one of the most creative insults I’ve heard on South Park .  “Ben Affleck has a lot going for him,” Butters says as he walks off into the Hawaiian sunset with Kenny.   “Not everything, but a lot.” Maybe I’m reading too much into this plot point, but I wonder if creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are making a bigger point here, or whether they were just free-associating at such a high speed that things appear to mean more than they do. Regardless, there are some interesting coincidences that have me looking for a larger meaning.  For example: -Is there some kind of connection to be drawn between Butters’ ire and the fact that Garner’s latest movie is titled Butter ? -Are Parker and Stone somehow also having some fun with  Argo producer George Clooney?  One of the subplots of the South Park episode is about residents of Kaua’i claiming to be natives of Hawaii when they’re just longtime residents who got there before the more recent tourists, whom they despise.  Although Clooney’s name is not mentioned in the episode, I was reminded of the plot of Alexander Payne’s 2011 movie The Descendants , which starred the actor and got him an Best Actor Oscar nomination.  In the movie, Clooney plays a genuine Hawaii native who’s grappling with selling his family’s 25,000 acres of pristine Kaua’i land to a developer. -Am I spending too much time looking for meaning in South Park episodes? If anyone out there can make sense of this,  I’d love to read your interpretation in the comments section. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Mary J. Blige Brings Backyard BBQ Vibe To ‘Good Morning America’ Set

The queen of hip-hop soul sang new and old hits to a crowd of all ages Friday morning. By Rebecca Thomas Mary J. Blige performs on “Good Morning America” on July 2 Photo: Jemal Countess/ Getty Images It seemed fitting that ABC’s “Good Morning America” had set a picnic table for a Southern comfort food segment they were hosting on Friday morning (July 2), just moments before R&B diva Mary J. Blige took the stage as part of the network’s summer concert series. Yes, it was New York City’s Central Park, but the vibe on the vast stretch of turf was all Fourth of July backyard family barbecue. Spontaneous chants of “Mary, Mary, Mary” went up as a quick survey of the “GMA” crowd revealed fans of all ages. Blige finally showed, opening with the relentlessly uptempo “Just Fine.” Nine studio albums and as many Grammys later, the singer who defined the drama of heartbreak for a generation proved again how far she’s come since the wrenching pain of her My Life days. As if to underscore that point, Mary J. tugged off her ever-present sunglasses midway through the song, smiling knowingly and drawing rousing shouts from the crowd. The hometown girl (Blige grew up in Yonkers, New York) even made a personal bid on behalf of the New York Knicks, trying to woo NBA free agent LeBron James. Next, she moved the set to her most recent LP, Stronger With Each Tear, tearing into the ballad “I Am,” a belly-deep plea to a love, detailing all of the reasons he should stay. Blige seemed to stretch each vowel, lingering on each word: “I just want you to know/ Baby, I love you so/ There is no need to go looking for more/ ‘Cause I’ve got everything you’ll ever need right here!” It’s not just that this R&B soul survivor exudes a hard-won serenity these days, even her instrument has evolved: The raspy edges, once fueled by alcoholic excess, are still there, but the sound is full, strong, and most important, controlled. Blige finished “I Am” seemingly breathless — with the devoted concertgoers filling in her staccato “oh-oh-oh”s — then launched into “Family Affair,” from her acclaimed, multiplatinum No More Drama. Fans weren’t shy about dancing, and Mary did her signature move: bending at the waist with her head bopping. The R&B diva, dressed in a black, bell-sleeve romper paired with knee-high, open-toe gladiator boots — beamed and thanked fans repeatedly for their love. As the clock pushed past the 9:00 hour, the cameras stopped rolling, but Blige kept singing. (“That’s why we love you, Mary!” one fan shouted.) The queen of hip-hop soul confessed that she was especially happy that morning. Blige, who dropped out of high school in her teens, had recently received an honorary diploma, she revealed. “So if I look a little more confident [that’s why],” she added with a laugh. With that, she delivered a poignant, tearful “No More Drama” over spare piano, clutching her abdomen at one point. There were tears, and not just onstage. Share your own experiences of seeing Mary J. Blige in the comments below. Related Artists Mary J. Blige
