Rihanna Sings "California King Bed" on American Idol

Rihanna changed up her look yet again last night on American Idol, going back to long red curly locks after a week or so of wearing her hair much, much shorter. The 23-year-old singer showed her latest look as she performed her new single, “California King Bed” live. She started the song softly, tantalizing fans. As her dancers pulled down white draping onto the stage floor and into the crowd, Rihanna was eventually revealed and really ramped up the performance. Kelly Clarkson Returns to American Idol, Teams Up With Jason Aldean

Kelly Clarkson returned to the show that made her a star last night. Now in its 10th season, it seems hard to believe that American Idol crowned Kelly its first winner that long ago. Needless to say, she’s been worthy of the honor. Kelly and Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood are the only Idol artists to surpass 10 million in career album sales (Chris Daughtry is third with six million-plus). On last night’s results show, which also featured a performance by Rihanna , Kelly teamed up with rising country star Jason Aldean for a different kind of duet. Casey Abrams: Hospitalized, Feeling Better

For the second time in a week, Casey Abrams was hospitalized with ulcerative colitis last night. The American Idol finalist missed the latest results show – in which Ashthon Jones was sent home – as Ryan Seacrest told viewers: “Wave to him. We know you’re watching, buddy. Feel better. Shout out to the nurses. Get back here soon, okay?” Fortunately, it looks like Casey will do just that. After receiving a blood transfusion at the hospital, Abrams Tweeted: “Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good.” The Idols will take to the stage again on Wednesday night, covering songs from the years they were born.

Michael Lynche Eliminated from American Idol

American Idol may be an utter bore this season, but it can still deliver an emotional wallop at times. On last night’s results show, for example, Michael Lynche and Crystal Bowersox found themselves in the bottom two. After Ryan Seacrest revealed that Big Mike would be heading home, the tears started to flow. First, from Michael’s wife, cradling the couple’s newborn daughter. Then, from various audience members as Lynche sang Michael Jackson’s “Will You Be There” and, finally, from a certain celebrity gossip blogger’s living room. He just seemed really nice, okay?!? We’re down to Bowersox, Casey James and Lee DeWyze on the worst season in Idol history. Who do you hope takes home the crown? The night was not a total downer, of course.
