Fireman Ed, Passionate Jets Fan, Hangs Up Helmet

Fireman Ed is apparently hanging up his helmet. Ed Anzalone – who has been a New York Jets fan since 1975 and who is known for his passionate chants of “J-E-T-S!” at home games – left his seat at halftime of the team’s embarrassing Thanksgiving night loss to the Patriots and then announced he will no longer attend contests this season. In his guest column for Metro New York , Fireman Ed does not cite the squad’s 4-7 record or the awful play of Mark Sanchez for his departure. Instead, he writes that “confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic.” The basis for many of these fights? Ed’s defense of Sanchez versus the desires of others to see Tim Tebow under center. “The stadium has become divided because of the quarterback controversy,” Ed explains. “The fact that I chose to wear a Mark Sanchez jersey this year, and that fans think I am on the payroll – which is an outright lie – have made these confrontations more frequent. Whether it’s in the stands, the bathroom or the parking lot, these confrontations are happening on a consistent basis.” Anzalone is a retired firefighter. He’s well-known around the stadium and also within the confines of the team, with Rex Ryan having given Ed a game ball after a 2009 upset of the Patriots. He also says he’ll remain a fan, he’ll just be rooting from afar going forward. “I have enjoyed my time in chanting the greatest chant in all of sports. I have enjoyed meeting all the wonderful Jets fans around the world and look forward to the day we all can raise the Lombardi Trophy as one and celebrate a world championship down the Canyon of Heroes.”

Rumor Control: Suge Knight’s Blowing Up Denise Sanchez’s Cell After She Got Cut Up

Suge doesn’t want any involvement in the brawl even though people are saying his crew is to blame. According to The Daily Mail : Music mogul Suge Knight doesn’t want a bad rap. Sources say the co-founder and former CEO of Death Row Records was present during a scuffle at Bagatelle L.A. early Wednesday morning that left model Denise Sanchez with a handful of stitches and medical bills. A Sanchez source says the model is telling friends an argument that involved broken glass and Knight’s posse “resulted in her going to the hospital and receiving many stitches.” Knight, according to a Bagatelle patron, arrived at the upscale eatery with a male pal around 11:45 p.m., and were later joined by another couple. The insider says around 1:30 a.m., a high-spirited Sanchez joined Knight’s table and “an argument arose” between the model and one of the music mogul’s male pals. A Sanchez source says it was over her initially declining to join their party. As Sanchez and Knight’s table mate carried out their verbal argument, the insider says other people at the table and restaurant employees tried to calm Sanchez down, but Knight didn’t get involved. A Sanchez source says she’s telling pals a bottle was thrown at her, but the restaurant witness says, “She cut her hand on a broken wine glass” that got knocked over, along with a significant amount of other glassware during the verbal feud. Multiple sources tell us police and an ambulance were called, but no charges were pressed. Sanchez left in the ambulance, and an insider says, “Suge spoke with police” but his name wasn’t initially on the police report. The next day, “Suge called her and said he had nothing to do with the incident and had no idea who threw (the glass),” says the Sanchez source. “He has been bombarding her with phone calls” because he doesn’t want his name involved. Knight, who has had legal woes since first being sent to the slammer in 1996, is currently on three years’ unsupervised probation for driving with a suspended license. “I don’t want to talk about it,” Sanchez insisted when Confidenti@l reached her by phone, before she quickly hung up on us. Can you blame her? We wouldn’t want to talk about that isht either if Suge was blowin’ up our phone! Images via twitter

Catch Fade: 2 California Goons Who Beat Down L.A. Dodger Fan Bryan Stow Plead Not Guilty

Surprise, surprise… The Thugs That Beat Down Dodgers Fan Bryan Stow Plead Not Guilty The two men accused of brutally attacking San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow both pleaded not guilty on Friday morning to charges stemming from the March 2011 attack at the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball stadium. Louie Sanchez, 30, and Marvin Norwood, 31, both of Rialto, California, were ordered earlier this month to stand trial on one felony count each of mayhem, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury, reported KFI News. As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Stow, a father of two and a paramedic, was attacked in the Dodger Stadium parking lot following the 2011 opening day game and left with severe brain damage. During a post-preliminary hearing arraignment at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, Judge George G. Lomeli also found sufficient evidence that Sanchez had personally inflicted great bodily injury on Stow, who was allegedly left for dead after the vicious beating. Stow, now 43, suffered a fracture that resulted in the loss of a portion of his skull as well as brain damage, he is currently “unable to walk, has loss of motor skills in his arms and hands, is unable to carry on a normal conversation, unable to control his bodily functions and unable to care for himself due to diffuse, severe, traumatic brain injury,” according to court documents, and will require “long-term care and daily assistance for the remainder of his life.” The suspects will next appear in court on July 24 for a pre-trial hearing. If there is even an SHRED of evidence against these two they are going to jail for a lonnnnnng time. Image via YouTube via RadarOnline

Is University of Minnesota Anti-Racism Ad Racist?

The UnFair campaign, a new anti-racism effort from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, challenges racial stereotypes by pointing the finger at white privilege. As such, it has been accused by some critics as being racist itself. University of Minnesota-Duluth calls the UnFair Campaign “a major anti-racism effort focusing on the role white people can play in addressing racial disparities.” Sounds good, right? See if you think so after watching it: University of Minnesota Anti-Racism Campaign The 30-second spot shows multiple white men and women, remarks stenciled in black on their faces, explaining what being white provides them inherently. One white male declares, “society was setup for us, and our silence keeps it in place.” Fairly or not, it looks to associates fair skin and features with guilt. UMD’s Chancellor Lendley Black, who supports the effort, said he sought to “create an inclusive campus climate for all” with the campaign’s components. The campaign has elicited some strong reactions from those who criticize it for being anti-white more than anti-racism. Tell us what you think of it below:

She’d be the latest big name to play a role on Glee , with Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker already signed on for the new season. The only question remaining: Does Glenn Beck think Jessica Sanchez will make Glee more horrifying or less horrifying?
