Clarence Thomas’ Supreme Court Dissent Paves The Way For A ‘Racist’ Census

Read more here:

T he Supreme Court’s ruling Monday night that Trump’s commerce secretary doesn’t have to explain under oath his reason for adding what some say is a racist question to the 2020 Census was a major victory for the president. To perhaps no one’s surprise, Justice Clarence Thomas was reportedly among the judges’ leading voices with the dissenting opinion that overturned a lower court’s prior ruling that sided with immigrant-rights activists. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross approved the addition of a Census question that asked if the person filling out the form was an American citizen. The pushback was immediate, labeling the move as a form of racism that would simplify the targeting non-citizens Trump’s anti-immigration and pro-deportation government. A federal judge ultimately ruled Ross should be deposed over the question, but Monday night’s ruling ended any thoughts of that notion. SCOTUS stays deposition of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in citizenship question case until it decides whether to hear appeal ordering deposition. More than two dozen cities and states filed lawsuits to try to remove the question. A trial had already been scheduled to start Nov. 5 – the day before Election Day – in New York. Monday night’s decision wasn’t a total victory for Trump. While the Supreme Court overturned the lower courts’ rulings on the Census question, “The administration’s request to temporarily block other lower court orders for the lawsuits, however, were not successful,” NPR reported . “The Supreme Court is allowing the plaintiffs’ attorneys to question Justice Department official John Gore, who leads the department’s civil rights division that the administration says needs the citizenship question to better enforce the Voting Right Act. Document requests from the plaintiffs can also move forward as the start date for the first potential trial over the citizenship question draws closer.” The ruling also paved the way for the president to further enforce his immigration laws that have disproportionately affected Black and brown non-U.S. citizens; policies that have torn families apart at the border, separating thousands of children from parents with no real plan in place to reunite them all. Trump appears to be hindering 2020 Census accuracy. Here's why it matters. https://t.co/5DqKxuE965 pic.twitter.com/uDBEBLWZww — NewsOne (@newsone) September 1, 2017 “President Trump is adding the citizenship question into his toxic stew of racist rants and draconian policies in order to stoke fear,” Sarah Brannon, a managing attorney with the ACLU,  said in June. The ruling was also so crucial because the Census is used to tally an accurate headcount of people living in the U.S. But now, with the renewed threat of surveillance and deportation, it was doubtful many, if any, noncitizens would participate. Of the roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants in America, just about 600,000 of them were Black, according to the most recent statistics by the  Migration Policy Institute . The consequences of not having full Census participation could be catastrophic for cities, states, businesses, households and, of course, individuals, according to the Brookings Institute. “Without an accurate Census, many states and cities will be denied the full funding they deserve and need, and the federal government will have to fly blind for a decade across a range of important areas,” the think tank wrote in a blog post last year when talk of the 2020 Census hit a fever pitch. But it was the overall racial implications for Black people in particular that were tough to ignore. NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson summed them neatly in an op-ed he wrote for NewsOne in March. The implications of an ill-prepared census on African-Americans could be devastating. @NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson @DerrickNAACP explains so we can all be aware. https://t.co/pO3o11SIZb #census2020 #Census pic.twitter.com/8Lm3FItME6 — NewsOne (@newsone) March 30, 2018 “In the 200 plus years since its first inception, the United States census has often provided a racist, biased and erroneous count of people of color in America,” Johnson wrote. “If care is not taken, the 2020 Census is gearing up to be much of the same.” Famous last words. Bridezilla’s Bizarre Demands Go Viral: Don’t Talk to Me and Don’t You DARE Wear Makeup!

A reddit user by the name of Laika_cat posted a redacted screencap of a truly ridiculous email. In the email, which was allegedly written by a wedding coordinator, guests are givena  list of demands. A few of them are totally normal — don't wear white, please let us know if you're bringing a plus one. That's all fine and not what has everyone so bewildered. No, the bride is demanding that anyone invited bring a gift of sufficient value if they want to be admitted. And she's also laying down the law about what guests can do, from social media activity to what they drink to how they can do their hair and makeup. Technically, the email is purportedly from the wedding coordinator, but a number of clues make people believe that the bride wrote it herself. Take a look at what true absurdity looks like and ask yourself if you would even bother attending. 1. It starts off normally enough Like we said, it is widely doubted that the wedding coordinator came up with this list — or even wrote it. 2. This question is reasonable This matters for seating layouts and for food preparation. But this question comes before the list. 3. Oh boy, here we go Asking people to show up early is fine. And avoiding white or anything close is considered polite. 4. This is where it gets controlling Now this person is telling people how to wear their own hair and how to do their makeup? It sounds like the bride is terrified of being outshone. 5. She doesn’t just want to control your looks, but your behavior That … is not how you spell ceremony. And while including a tag for an event is standard, the demand that people not check in on social media is weird. 6. This is our favorite one What does this mean? Do not speak to the bride? This is like a list of demands for a major prima donna actress … except she’s making them of people who are presumably family and friends. Who DOESN’T want to talk to their friends? View Slideshow

Did you know that we have a FORUM on the site HERE It is our very own community, that over the years has had thousands and thousands of contributors…. Sure, forums are a dated concept, but those of us who grew up on forums, like the simplicity of the conversation of the forum…the trolling of the forums…the ability to be anonymous and an asshole in forums…. Some of my best early internet time was spent on various forums, it is really where I found my internet voice… This was long before social media existed, in ways it was early social media, and it was always more collaborative than narcissistic…It wasn’t Look at pics of me and comment and like it..It was more sharing things, chatting about things…exposing and making fun of people like the asshole you are….I am a huge fan of forums… This isn’t a Forum endorsement, it’s just to say that this post on Rachel McCord’s ass is the one getting a ton of views, which begs the question, who the fuck is Rachel McCord. I mean we know she’s Annalynn McCord’s sister, who moved to LA with Annalynn McCord, but who never got on TV like Annalynn McCord…but who has been shot by paparazzi, and has established a following and audience…which is fucking weird since Annalynn McCord is virtually forgotten…and she was the barely famous one… But since you all like it, whatever IT is…here it is. Kenya Moore Deletes Baby Bump Photo as Fans Question Her Pregnancy

As much as Kenya Moore has slammed divorce speculation , some fans still think that Kenya is faking her marriage and her pregnancy . These ridiculous rumors are clearly getting under Kenya’s skin. In fact, the RHOA star was apparently so upset that she deleted a sweet photo of her and her husband … possibly because he wasn’t wearing his ring. The photo that we have for you below looks totally innocuous. But Kendra has deleted it from her Instagram page without warning or explanation. In it, she and husband Marc Daly are enjoying a relaxing evening of golf. Some fans noted that Kenya appears to be showing a bit of a baby bump. Others noted that she appears to be concealing it. There was some whining in the comments about Marc’s wedding ring being off of his finger — he removed it to play golf, folks. There is nothing in this image that should lead to it being deleted from social media, and yet … it is gone. On Friday, Kenya addressed the conspiracy theorists who seemed to believe that she was fabricating her pregnancy or even her marriage. “@bet @celebrity_insider_org @theinquisitr shame on you for constantly regurgitating the slanderous fake news from #radaronline.” She then lists some of the stories that have gotten under her skin. “Fake Husband, Fake Pregnancy, Fake Boyfriends, Fake Storyline, FIred, Fake Divorce.” She hates false stories and she hates seeing them recycled. “At least be effing original with your hateful lies.” She says that she understands being a subject of speculation, but that she wants her family left out of it. “I’m used to you all making up stories to get clicks off my name but LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE.” She signed off, writing: “#thatamrsdaly2you #blacklove” Forget the conspiracy theories. Kenya is pregnant , folks. Some fans weren’t sure if she was really pregnant when she made the announcement at the reunion. “We will definitely be welcoming a boy or girl in late this year.” When Andy asked about her due date, Kenya grew a little shy. “Well, I don’t want to talk about the details because I’m just still — I’m just still very nervous about everything.” This will be her first child. Notably, Kenya is 47 years old. “And I just want to get past a safe place.” Very understandable. Fans have been on the lookout for Kenya’s baby bump for a while, without much luck — she’s been, well, a little shy. This has led to all sorts of speculation, including the idea that perhaps she is using a surrogate. Kenya saw that and responded on Twitter. “No surrogate but maybe my next one.” Surrogates — or probably a gestational carrier, in this case — are a smart, though expensive, choice for people whose pregnancies may be particularly risky. When fans asked why she is being so shy, Kenya wrote on Instagram: “I was not planning on speaking about my pregnancy this early as due to my age I’m high risk.” She hastily deleted the comment. Does Kenya deleting the golfing photo mean that there’s trouble in her marriage or with her pregnancy? We can’t rule it out, but … there may be a simpler explanation. Maybe she got tired of seeing all of the hateful comments and the spiteful speculation about her husband and her pregnancy — two major sources of happiness in her life. She may be a public figure and a reality star, but that doesn’t mean that she has to listen to people’s chatter about her on her own Instagram page. Right now, Kenya has to do what’s best for her health and for her baby. She can delete whatever she wants. View Slideshow: Real Housewives All Stars: Who Should Be Cast?

Dirty Cat Diaries: Lady Luck And Somaya Reece Same Sex Love Ended Because Someone Cheated!

Did Lady Luck Cheat On Somaya Reece? Yesterday rapper and reality star let the shopper off on her ex-fiance Somaya Reece, seemingly out of nowhere. Apparently the two called it quits, after Luck popped the question in March. In the messy posy, both ladies kept hinting at the other lacking “loyalty”. Today The Jasmine Brand is reporting from a source that says Lady Luck was cheating on Somaya and also USING her. Somaya just allegedly moved herself and Luck into a new crib, all on her dime.  Sources tell us infidelity was involved on  Lady Luck’s  part. Somaya is heart-broken. She’s starting to find out things that she didn’t know before. Initially, she ignored it, but some of her fans noticed some things that Lady Luck was posting on social media. Without getting into specifics, it was a lot. Bottom line is, Somaya was getting used by her. They just got a house together and Somaya was footing a lot of the bill.   Interesting. Somaya an Lady Luck have yet to comment directly on the infidelity.
