Mr. Skin’s Blu-Ray Discoveries: Shark Night 3D [PIC]

We’re big Sara Paxton fans here at Skin Central, so when she casually dismissed our Breast Picture of 2010, we were a little hurt. What’s wrong with ” Piranha 3D content,” as she told reporters NOT to expect from the strikingly-similar-in-every-way-but-nudity Shark Night 3D (2011)? So it is with a TIT of bitter irony that we skintroduce the first-ever glimpse of what Paxton is packin’ inside her bra- a nip slip from the normally skingy star 1 hour, 4 minutes into the film. But we won’t hold a grudge…though we have been known to hold our puds. See more from killer-fish flicks from Shark Night 3D (2011) to Tintorera (1977) right here at MrSkin.com!

Fox Developing a Zombieland TV Series and 5 Other Stories You’ll be Talking About Today

Zombies are primetime draws in 2011, dear friends, and that means Zombieland is coming back as a TV series. Hooray? Also in the Broadsheet: Shia LaBeouf gets into a street fight on camera (yikes!) and eyes a “giant” new film role (awww), the Octomom becomes an actress, and a Scrabble competitor plays dirty.

5 Suggestions for Amazing, 3-D Adaptations of Victorian Novels

Remakes often suck — but when they’re total stylistic upheavals of the source material, I’m more optimistic. Would you see a whacked-out, space-age remake of a classic period piece like Little Dorrit ? I would! Or better yet, this weekend’s ridiculous, steampunk The Three Musketeers in 3-D? It puts the “rich” in Richelieu and the “dumbass” in Dumas. I dig it! Ahead, we investigate five other Victorian novels worth revisiting in a fulgent 3-D experience. Put on your special glasses, Heathcliff.

REVIEW: Good-Enough Shark Night 3D Delivers Dumb, Rowdy Summer Swan Song

To answer the question that occurred to many when the golden-hued trailer for Shark Night 3D was first unveiled — yes, the sun does eventually set on the film’s hapless group of Louisiana college students, leaving them to battle their way through a long, dark shark night of the soul. Everything else about stuntman-turned-director David R. Ellis’s latest effort is similarly as advertised — an ambitiously differentiated array of shark species show up to chomp on the tanned, low-BMI bodies of the cast and, every once in a while, on the camera, darting at the screen with toothy maws open as if to gulp the 3-D glasses off the faces of the audience.

First Clip from T&A-Free Shark Night 3D Teases T&A

With a name like Shark Night 3D — and a trailer that highlights bikini-clad co-eds and shark attacks — you would be right to assume that the upcoming David R. Ellis-directed film would be packed to the gills with boobs and blood. As the director told Movieline at Comic-Con , however, it’s not. “This movie is just a really smart, well-written movie with great character arcs, great twists, without having to have gratuitous nudity or language. Jaws was PG-13. The Birds . All those really great horror films.” Fair points, David! Though you might want to tell the marketing department, since the first clip from Shark Night teases gratuitous nudity and some shark-related ultra-violence.

Which Of These Photos Are Not New Images From Shark Night 3-D?

In the lead-up to Comic-Con, a handful of new images from the should-be-splatter-rific (but is actually rated PG-13) Shark Night 3-D have debuted online courtesy of Hollywood.com , and they feature one unifying trait. Not sharks, silly! Young adults screaming at off-screen terror. Which of these seven pictures are actually from the David R. Ellis-directed film? See if you can guess ahead.

Sara Paxton in Shark Night 3D: All Shark, No Bite

We are big fans of the Piranha 3D franchise here at Skin Central, so when we first heard the title Shark Night 3D , we did some mammary math and came up with the following equation: “carnivorous fish + 3D = nudity.” Then lead actress Sara Paxton totally killed our boobie buzz by telling EW that the film will be rated PG-13 and is “very different from [Piranha 3d]…but I don’t think people should go in expecting The Reader with Kate Winslet , either,” No, Sara. The Reader at least had bush in it. Despite our deflated expectations, the svelte Ms. Paxton does look pretty good in a bikini: Shark Night 3D , which opens in theaters September 2, is about a “group of college friends who spend the weekend at a lake, only to discover that danger lurks beneath its waters,” the danger, naturally, being sharks. Shark Night 3D Will Not Be As Much Fun as Notion of Shark Night 3D

You know us. We would love to love the idea of Shark Night 3D , which is gearing up to shoot this summer under director David R. Ellis. Then we remember that Ellis directed the high-concept, low-returns Snakes on a Plane , and the schlocky potential of the title falls away. Still, at least it’s forcing the Discovery Channel to up its game. This is no time to rest on your laurels, Shark Week! [ Deadlne ]
