Lindsay Lohan Probation Revoked; Will She Go to Jail?

Lindsay Lohan’s probation was revoked as expected this morning in court, but a decision on whether she’ll go to jail as a result will have to wait until January. Because she’s on probation for stealing jewelry, Lohan faces eight months in jail as a consequence of her recent arrests IF a judge decides that’s best. Lindsay was charged with lying to police and driving recklessly while crashing her Porsche on Pacific Coast Highway in June. That got her probation revoked today. She was also arrested recently for assaulting Tiffany Mitchell , and could face additional consequences for that. Needless to say, we don’t envy her position. It’s not a done deal yet by any means, though. Commissioner Jane Godfrey, who is overseeing the case, scheduled a January 15 hearing on the probation violation. If Godfrey decides Lindsay did violate her probation, she could face 245 days in jail. A conviction beyond reasonable doubt is not necessary to lock her up. Of course, Godfrey could also be lenient , and is said to is gravitate more toward second chances than jail, so Lindsay could totally skate yet again. Figures. Should Lindsay do hard time? Lindsay Lohan on Rehab: NO, NO, NO!

Lindsay Lohan’s friends are reportedly trying to get her into rehab, but the defiant and troubled star is giving them the Amy Winehouse line in response: No, no, no! Lohan has become stressed out by legal and and financial problems (the IRS just seized Lohan’s assets to recover back taxes) and has been drinking like a fish of late. Even by her standards, she’s out of control, and friends have been urging her to seek treatment before she goes before a judge to face four new criminal charges. Team Lohan feels this move might win her favor with the judge, but Lindsay is having none of it, telling friends she does not think she has a problem with alcohol. Lindsay points to the fact that she’s been working like a madman in the past few months and recently completed three movies as proof she doesn’t need rehab. Any Liz & Dick review debunks that logic, but whatever. Lohan is worried about the upcoming hearing to determine if she violated probation, but maintains she will not check into rehab as some kind of PR ploy. She was also arrested last week for punching Tiffany Mitchell at a New York club … girlfriend could end up doing time for that too, on its own merit and as a probation violation. Some might say she needs exactly that as a wake-up call – some time in lockup. Any sentence would likely be cut down to like 72 hours due to overcrowding, but still. What do you think? Should Lindsay Lohan do hard time in jail?   Yes, that train wreck brat will never learn otherwise! No, quit trying to make an example out of her, haters! View Poll »

THG Asks: Should Lindsay Lohan Host SNL?

Welcome to THG Asks, a feature in which two of THG’s celebrity gossip experts debate topical issues in the entertainment world and you decide who wrote the winning argument! Today, THG Asks : Should Lindsay Lohan host SNL? YES. By Free Britney I can hear my colleague now. Lindsay Lohan is just a train wreck, he’ll say. She’s not even in a movie or TV show! This is all just a ratings grab! Yup, all true. You finished? Saturday Night Live is a TV program. Its purpose: Bring in famous guest hosts who help deliver laughs and ratings that will deliver advertising revenue. Lindsay will do both. In three previous stints as host, Lohan was terrific. She’s lost her way in recent years, as I’ll be the first to point out. But she’s still an actress by trade. A decent one even! Why wouldn’t Lorne Michaels, who she looks up to as a father figure, not give her another shot? Besides, given her ability to poke fun at herself, they’ll have great material. And since when is SNL the embodiment of class, the zenith of comedy, the entertainment bellwether that determines which stars are deserving a broader platform? I’m a lifelong SNL fan, but the idea that it has standards is laughable. LiLo’s young, hip, topical and talented, and will likely do a better job than most by all measures. She and SNL want to work together. End of story. You don’t have to feel compassion for Lindsay or like her. But don’t make this out to be some unfair travesty. NO. By Hilton Hater At this point in her “career,” there are only two reasons for Lindsay Lohan to appear on television: If a court date is televised. If a show is in desperate need of ratings. Because Saturday Night Live is neither a news program nor a series that has to worry about cancellation, the decision to bring Lohan on board as host is downright pathetic. This is someone who has not starred in a hit movie since 2004. She has not appeared on a TV show since 2008. She has no album to promote, no reason to be in the spotlight at all except in an attempt to rehabilitate her image. And why should an institution such as SNL assist the trainwreck with that mission? Since when is the iconic sketch comedy show in the business of featuring celebrities that are famous only for their run-ins with the law? Lohan is not an actress, athlete or a musician. She’s nothing but a DUI and probation violation waiting to happen. Now she will be sharing the same stage that has been frequented by Presidential candidates, foreign dignitaries and Alec Baldwin. For shame, Lorne Michaels. For shame. THG Asks you … should Lindsay host SNL?

Lindsay Lohan Mug Shot, Take Five: Me So Pouty!

Yesterday was not Lindsay Lohan’s best day … aesthetically or legally. After showing up for court with her makeup applied haphazardly and dressed like a ghost for reasons unknown, she was briefly jailed for violating probation before posting $100,000 bail … standard operating procedure for LiLo. Before her release, she joined our celebrity mug shots gallery again: Most mugshots don’t tell you a whole lot about the person, but if your impression was that Lindsay is a whiny, pouty brat … this isn’t gonna dissuade you. She’ll be back in court for a full hearing Nov. 2, at which point Judge Stephanie Sautner could reinstate her probation, or send her to jail for a long ass time. Short story: Linds is on probation in her necklace heist case, but is a Class A f*%k-up who cannot even do community service without getting kicked out. She was handcuffed and thrown in jail yesterday mostly to send a message. If she can’t convince the judge Nov. 2 that she has it together, watch out. Should Lindsay do hard time?
