Band reveals track list and announces Florida tour in support of sophomore album. By James Montgomery Sleigh Bells Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images Having already sufficiently fired up fans with a (thoroughly badass) teaser clip for their upcoming Reign of Terror album, Sleigh Bells are now revealing details about the disc — albeit in a slightly less radical way. According to a press release issued by the band’s publicist, Terror will hit stores February 14 (it’s sure to be a bloody valentine) and features 11 tracks, with appropriately Sleigh Bells-y titles like “True Shred Guitar,” “Demons” and “Road to Hell ” It was produced by guitarist Derek E. Miller, and, as the press release puts it, features “songs that are as crushing and authoritative as their title suggests; they’re effortlessly robust and heavier than any of the band’s previous output … the sonic equivalent of a beautiful shotgun to the head.” Now that’s descriptive! The Bells will also embark on a tour leading up to the release of Terror, making stops all across Miller’s home state of Florida (and nowhere else). The trek kicks off February 2 at the Florida Theatre in Gainesville, and they’ll be taking fellow Floridian Diplo along for the ride, along with Brooklyn’s Liturgy. Reign of Terror is the follow-up to Sleigh Bells’ breakout 2010 album Treats, which they rode to a thunderous performance at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards and a collaboration with none other than Beyonc

On the set of the new clip, Gabe Saporta explains how a magic photo booth tells a universal story. By James Montgomery Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta on the set of the “You Make Me Feel” music video Photo: MTV News Cobra Starship ‘s brand-new “You Make Me Feel …” video is most definitely a party, one packed with beautiful people (various members of the NYC glitterati, a rather confused MTV News journalist, a mightily bearded Robin Williams) and practically bursting at the seams with booze-fueled hookups and assorted Spandex getups. But when MTV News showed up on the set of the video last month, the guys in Cobra Starship were eager to explain that “You Make Me Feel …” is much more than an ode to bottle-popping excess. It’s actually about frontman Gabe Saporta’s quest to find his soul mate — up-and-coming singer Sabi — in the dwindling hours of a New York night. With the help of a magical photo booth. Or something like that. “It’s a song about a guy and a girl, and the concept is, at the beginning of the video, I find one of Sabi’s photos, and she’s feeling the same way that I’m feeling, which is incomplete without each other,” Saporta said. “We’re sharing feelings, and that’s what I realize, so I’m like, ‘Wow, I want to find this girl.’ So I look all over the world for her, and our world is the nightclub. … The video is about the photo booth. It’s just not any photo booth; it’s a photo booth that tells you how you’re really feeling. That’s the main star of the video.” “It’s a party,” guitarist Ryland Blackinton added, “but it’s a very tender party at times.” So, yes, in short, it’s a party video loaded with cameos from the likes of Williams (and his daughter, Zelda), DJ duo Andrew Andrew, Just Jared blogger Jared Eng, and yes, this writer. But Saporta also said that he wrote the song — and a whole lot of Cobra’s upcoming Night Shades album — after going through some serious personal problems of his own. So it’s a party anthem with a heart. “Obviously, some of my personal drama was about feeling alone, and feeling like I was searching the world for the right person,” he said. “And one of the things we want for this song and this record — even though it has personal stuff in it — is to be something everyone can relate to, and I think that the concept of people trying to find the right person is something that’s universal.” Of course, he’s far less serious about the name of the album itself. Sure, it came from personal experiences too, but it’s also inspired by the family of flowering plants known as Solanaceae. “They’re the family of nightshades, and the flowers of these vegetables only open up at night, which is how I think of myself,” he laughed. “Like, I wake up at 2 in the afternoon, I’m a vegetable … until I get to flower at night.”

Sleigh Bells, Two Door Cinema club also take the stage air when the show airs live on March 16 at midnight. By James Montgomery Wiz Khalifa Photo: Al Pereira/ WireImage On Tuesday (March 1), Wiz Khalifa, Sleigh Bells and Two Door Cinema Club were announced as performers at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards , set to air live on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU from the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday, March 16, at midnight (ET/PT). Wiz, Sleigh Bells and Two Door Cinema Club are also up for awards at the seventh-annual show — Wiz is in the running for Woodie of the Year, given to the year’s best artist, and Sleigh Bells and TDCC are facing off against each other in the Breaking Woodie category, given to the year’s best breakout act. But you don’t have to be an actual nominee to perform, as evidenced by the fourth act confirmed to take the stage: insane L.A. rap collective Odd Future , who will most certainly keep the censors on their toes. The Woodies also announced the first wave of presenters for the 2011 show: Matt and Kim, Lupe Fiasco, Dev, Chiddy Bang, emerging Eminem prot

Maybe Bey Bey was trying to tell us something about her new musical direction when she popped up at Cochella on her indie rock flow to support the hubby last year. Elctro-funk-hip-hop DJ/and producer Diplo just revealed he is one of people Beyonce has recruited for her super secret fourth solo album and that new genre she’s creating . On Monday (Jan. 24), Diplo — who is best known for his work with M.I.A. and as one-half of the duo Major Lazer (with longtime collaborator Switch) — revealed that he, Beyoncé, and Derek of the indie electro-pop duo Sleigh Bells recently recorded music together in a New York studio. “I like sleigh bells so much,” Diplo wrote on the blog for his label imprint, Mad Decent. “Me and switch was in studio in nyc tryin to make tracks with derek and beyonce last week after we played her team their album…dunno if we gonna manage to finish but it was good times.” Sleigh Bells appeared to corroborate Diplo’s post with a somewhat crytpic message their Twitter page: “yeah damn beyonce on it was intense track may not get finished (?) but we finished the rum off at least” Who is Sleigh Bells? They’re a “noise pop” duo out of Brooklyn that looks like this… And sounds like this when they work with Diplo… Do you think Beyonce can pull this sound off? Source
