Kate Major: Arrested For Drunken Attack on Michael Lohan!

Kate Major Lohan, the wife of Lindsay Lohan’s dear old dad Michael Lohan, was arrested last night for attacking him in a drunken rage, according to police. MiLo called the cops around 7 p.m. yesterday in Boca Raton, Fla. Telling officials in that city that Kate had just returned to their home after picking up some dinner and was visibly drunk, he asked for assistance ASAP. They got into an argument that turned physical, he says, and Major scratched him down his back , according to him (and a photo posted on TMZ). Kate looked intoxicated and reeked of alcohol when cops arrived, and officers say she was slurring her speech with bloodshot eyes and flushed cheeks. The police say Kate admitted she’d been drinking, then ranted that Michael had accused her of cheating on him and that’s what provoked her to fight. Kate also said MiLo grabbed her by the throat, yet had no visible injuries … save for when she “scratched her throat area in an attempt to create red marks.” She’s not very good at lying or faking crimes, apparently. Michael blames ex-wife Dina and their ongoing child custody dispute, telling TMZ, “At the end of the day, this is all because of what Dina is doing in court.” “It affects Kate too, and like anyone with a drug or alcohol problem,” which he says Kate has, “when they can’t handle the stress, they resort to drinking.” Kate and Michael Lohan got married last fall and recently welcomed their second child together … right after she served few months behind bars for DUI. Formerly Lindsay’s assistant and also Jon Gosselin’s ex (seriously), Kate Major had been on probation for allegedly attacking a police officer in 2012. Police have responded to domestic violence complaints from her in the past. This chick gets into more trouble than … well, her husband and his daughter. Suzanne Somers: Headed to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

Might Suzanne Somers soon knock on the door of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills… permanently? The former Three’s Company actress – who partnered this season with Tony Dovolani on Dancing with the Stars and who is friends with Yolanda Foster – appeared last night on Watch What Happens Live. Because she’s stopped by the Bravo hit on a couple of occasions, Somers was asked about potentially becoming a full-time cast member on Season 6. “I’ve seen that [rumor]. Are you planting that?” Somers asked host Andy Cohen. “I loved showing up there. I don’t know if I want to be there all the time, but I loved showing up there.” So it doesn’t sound as if we’ll be able to watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online each week next year and see Somers gracing our screen… which is too bad. Early on Thursday this week, Kim Richards got arrested for being drunk and belligerent. That incident followed a season in which Kim fought with new cast members Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson, mostly about her alleged substance abuse issues. There was also plenty of tension between the Richards siblings and the featured women in general. In other words: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills could use someone bright and bubble such as Suzanne Somers. Maybe she’ll reconsider. View Slideshow: 19 Really Big Real Housewives Scandals

Tim McGraw to Headline Sandy Hook Benefit Concert, Gun Advocates Up in Arms

Country music superstar Tim McGraw will headline July concert to benefit Sandy Hook Promise, a group that seeks to protect children from gun violence. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, this announcement resulted in serious backlash from gun advocates calling McGraw a hypocrite and a whole lot worse. Among the critics was fellow country music star Travis Tritt, who tweeted his disdain for McGraw’s concert, and he was far from alone in that sentiment. The blog Bearing Arms, for its part, reported the story with the headline “Tim McGraw Poised to Dixie Chick Himself With Gun Control Benefit Concert.” McGraw “seems poised to make a similar, potentially career-ending move,” the blog argued, referencing the Dixie Chicks’ Iraq War controversy of 2003. Lead singer Natalie Maines unabashedly slammed President George W. Bush over that military initiative, and the group’s popularity slowly declined. Coincidence? Natural progression of a pop country girl group peaking around then anyway? Perhaps, but many have linked McGraw’s and Maines’ comments. Meanwhile, McGraw responded that he supports gun ownership, but added, “I also believe that with gun ownership comes the responsibility of education and safety.” Most certainly, the 47-year-old husband of Faith Hill said, “when it relates to what we value most, our children … I can’t imagine anyone who disagrees with that.” In his announcement, McGraw said, “Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation.” “Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise – as a father and as a friend.” View Slideshow: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Photos: Through the Years Unlike McGraw, Billy Currington, who would have been the opening act for the July concert, succumbed to the pressure and bowed out of the concert. Writing on his Facebook page, Currington said he would donate to a local organization, but “I’ve never been one to take on controversial issues – I’m a singer.” The Sandy Hook Promise group formed to honor the 20 children and six staff members gunned down in an elementary school in December 2012. Adam Lanza , 20 entered the Newtown, Conn., school and went on a rampage. He also killed his mother prior to the attack and committed suicide afterward. The incident is the deadliest school shooting in the U.S., yet little or no action was taken on the federal government level amid pressure from gun advocates. Gun control: Should regulations and laws be strengthened? YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »

Nelson Mandela Dies; South African Leader, Global Icon Was 95

Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95, according to reports. Increased activity was noted around the Johannesburg home of South Africa’s first black president, who has been very ill, in the past 24 hours. Mandela’s death was confirmed just minutes ago. South African President Jacob Zuma announced Mandel’s passing, which marks the final chapter in a revolutionary life that changed South Africa forever. Zuma spoke about his predecessor on national TV. “Our nation has lost its greatest son, yet what made Nelson Mandela great was precisely what made him human,” Zuma said. “We saw in him what we seek in ourselves.” “In him, we saw so much of ourselves.” Family members had gathered after Mandela’s eldest daughter said the ailing icon was putting up a fight from what she nonetheless called his “deathbed.” Nelson Mandela spent nearly three months in the hospital with a lung infection earlier this year, but kept pressing on, as has always been his way. He had been receiving intensive home-based care since he was released in September, but his health slowly declined and he passed away today. Mandela’s journey and struggle remain one of the defining stories of the 20th Century. Trained as a lawyer, he became involved in politics after 1948. As South Africa moved into a system of racial apartheid, he initially spoke out and espousing non-violent protests with the African National Congress (ANC). However, he eventually founded a militant organization and was behind a bombing campaign in the early ’60s. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1962. Mandela’s imprisonment soon became an international cause, and was eventually released in 1990 after intervention by President F. W. de Klerk. A free man at last, he spearheaded South Africa’s transition from white-minority rule after that, marking the end of apartheid with the aid of de Klerk. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and was elected South Africa’s first black president in 1994. He stepped down after five years in office. Mandela is survived by his wife, Graca Machel, six children, and 17 grandchildren.
