Mel B And Stephen Belafonte Finalize Divorce Looks like Mel B will be off the hook for t he $40K a month she’s been having to pay her faux-Belafonte in spousal support…eventually. After a long, heated, messy and drama-filled battle in court, Mel B and her ex-hubby Stephen Belafonte have come to an agreement on setting Mel free their divorce proceedings. According to documents procured by TMZ , the two actually wrapped everything up back on November 8th. Those sex tapes that Belfonte blackmailed Mel with — but claimed didn’t exist — will have to be destroyed once and for all. In exchange…Stephen will get to keep siphoning spousal support from Mel for the next three years, but the amount is private business. The parents will share joint legal and physical custody of their 6-year-old daughter Madison, so there’s no child support to change hands. Stephen will be allowed back into the family house, but only to come collect his isht. After that, the couple will sell the home and split the profits. SMH. Thankfully that messy business is all over. WENN/Splash
Divorce is complicated. It might be the best marital decision that some people will make in their entire lives, but it’s also massively stressful. Oh … and it can be an incredibly expensive process. Mel B is getting divorced , and it looks like she’s trying to recoup her expenses … by demanding a $400,000 raise at America’s Got Talent . Mel B’s divorce from Stephen Belafonte has been a long time coming. Back in 2014, fans noticed signs of abuse on Mel B . At the time, she was very defensive of her husband. As the world is all too aware, this is a common response from people who are being abused. However, since Mel B and Stephen Belafonte announced their divorce in March of 2017, the TV personality and Spice Girl has come forward. Mel B now alleges that Stephen Belafonte abused her during their marriage, and even blackmailed her with a sex tape . (In fact, Mel B says that she can prove that the blackmail tapes exist ) Further details came out, including allegations that Stephen Belafonte brought the couple’s nanny into their relationship … for seven years. There’s a whole lot to that, including conflicting accounts of what was going on with the nanny. We’re just glad that Mel B is getting out of that toxic marriage. But, like we said, as wonderful as divorce can be in terms of being a step towards improving a person’s life, it can also be super expensive. There’s more to it than dividing assets and paying lawyers, by the way. Reportedly, Mel B is reluctant to pay Stephen Belafonte spousal support. Stephen Belafonte — who has a job of his own, by the way — was apparently asking for $4,300 per month to spend on basic necessities. $4,300 a month would be a normal amount for, say, a person’s salary. Whose grocery bills look like that, though? We’d say that the average person probably spends less than $1000 per month on groceries, right? Even if you’re ordering delivery for most of your meals, you’re not going to rack up $4,300 in a single month. And we did the math — if he’s spending $4,300 a month on groceries, he’s spending upwards of $140 per day. Maybe Stephen Belafonte is three-to-four grown men in a trench coat? Point is, every bit of this — Belafonte’s demands, Mel B fighting them in court, and the division of their shared property — amounts to a lot of expenses, even for a rich person. It’s worth noting that Stephen Belafonte is accused of having blown through $30 million of Mel B’s fortune while controlling all of her financial decisions and assets during their marriage. According to The Sunday People , which is a British tabloid newspaper and only sounds like the name of a horror film, Mel B is demanding a raise at America’s Got Talent . America’s Got Talent is a talent competition that, based upon its title, is designed to frustrate people who are enthusiastic about the English language. (Why not simply America HAS Talent ? It’s so much simpler and doesn’t make anyone’s eye twitch) Back in 2013, Mel B joined the panel of judges during the show’s eighth season. (Yeah, these shows go on forever) Well, Mel B’s reported request for a raise is to the tune of $400,000, which would bring her total salary to $2.2 million. According to The Sunday People ‘s source, “Mel feels that she is in a very strong position to wrangle a pay rise from Simon.” (Simon being Simon Cowell, who runs things as well as judging. And “pay rise” is just British nonsense for a pay raise ) “She was an integral part of the show’s success, with so much being written about her life and then talked about after the broadcasts.” That sounds fairly accurate. “Not only did her talent pick win the series, but she and Simon dominated the show’s dramatic moments.” That is also true. (You might remember Mel B’s on-air spat with Simon Cowell from back in August) Honestly? If the show can afford it, that doesn’t sound unreasonable. Sure, most of us can’t demand a $400,000 raise without getting laughed out of the office. But Mel B is a Spice Girl, dang it. It’s kind of shocking that she’s making as little per year as she is. Look at it this way — Katy Perry is getting paid $25 million a year for being a judge on the American Idol revival that no one wanted or asked for. What Mel B, who is actually likable and part of one of the most iconic music groups of all time, is asking for is less than a tenth of that. And, unlike Katy Perry , Mel B actually knows how to be an entertaining judge without being a total flop. Pay up, Simon Cowell. View Slideshow: America’s Got Talent: The Best Auditions of 2017!

Mel B’s divorce from Stephen Belafonte is one of the messiest and saddest stories of the year, and that’s saying a lot. It’s not sad that they’re divorcing — what’s sad is the horrifying accusations that have come out since their split. Mel B has a long court battle ahead of her. But it looks like the Spice Girl and TV personality is striking back, and she’s armed with evidence that supports her claims — including depositions. Do you guys remember back in December of 2014? Honestly, 2017 feels like it’s lasted at least 1,000 years and we’re barely into September (and with two “500 year storms” already, that’s no surprise), so we’ll understand if you’re drawing a blank. Fans notices bruises on Mel B during an airing of X Factor — on which the Spice Girl was a judge. Mel B responded to speculation by declaring that her husband, Stephen Belafonte would never hurt her . Unfortunately, as we are all aware by now, someone denying that they’re a victim of domestic violence … doesn’t mean anything. Victims will generally say anything to protect their abusers. Until they reach a breaking point, that is. This year, Mel B has split from husband Stephen Belafonte and was granted an order of protection after accusing Belafonte of punching and choking her. That is horrifying to hear. There have also been more salacious stories about their marriage, including claims that Mel B and Belafonte’s nanny was Belafonte’s lover. Allegedly, Stephen Belafonte wanted to control Mel B’s money but also retain a young lover. Belafonte had also allegedly blackmailed Mel B with recordings of their sex life. Mel B’s nanny, Lorraine Gilles, sued for defamation , claiming that she had been Mel B’s consensual lover and that she had never had one-on-one sex with Stephen Belafonte. Based upon new papers that Mel B’s team has filed, it sounds like Gilles is walking back some of those claims. TMZ got a hold of some court documents that allege that Stephen Belafonte arranged a phony marriage for Lorraine Gilles , one that allowed him to keep Lorraine nearby. And that he used Mel B’s money to do it. The documents include portions of Lorraine Gilles’ deposition, in which she admits to having sex alone with Stephen Belafonte — ten to fifteen times. Considering how many years she was in their lives, that sounds like a really low number, but it’s progress from her claim that she only had sex with him during threesomes. Gilles also admits to having had sex with Belafonte around the time that she got an abortion, but claims that it wasn’t his. (We’d ask how she, or anyone, could know for sure, as we can’t imagine that any genetic testing was involved — but hey, we’re no experts) Now, Lorraine Gilles married Michael Bleu — which Mel B alleges was a sham. Her team included a deposition from Bleu himself, in which he admits to having purchased the engagement ring for $30 on eBay. Ah, romance . Gilles also admits that the sex tapes — the ones that Mel B says Belafonte used to blackmail her — definitely exist and that she watched them as recently as July of 2016. (There is a very real fear that Belafonte might release the sex tapes, in part or in whole, during these upcoming court battles) As for Michael Bleu’s incentive for the fake marriage? Apparently Belafonte got Mel B to invest $60,000 in Michael Bleu’s business. At the time, Mel B had no idea that Michael Bleu had been arrested for a sex crime (yikes!) and convicted for false imprisonment. Mel B hopes to keep Belafonte’s domestic violence trial closed to the public, for her sake and for the sake of her children. Belafonte wants it to be public — a powerful intimidation tactic against his accuser. We hope that this whole ordeal comes to an end soon. Congratulations to Mel B , who finally gave birth to her third little girl late Thursday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Spice Girl took to Twitter shortly after the birth to make an announcement that her little girl had arrived: Well that’s a new one… We never heard of a woman laughing so hard during labor that the baby popped out before. Did they give her laughing gas instead of an epidural? Mel’s publicist also confirmed the birth: Mel’s publicist confirmed: ‘This evening Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte welcomed their new baby girl in Los Angeles. ‘This is the first child for Mel and Stephen and both mom and baby are happy, healthy and doing well.’ Poor Stephen Belafonte, he’s now outnumbered 5 to 1, since he has a daughter from a previous relationship. This baby is his first with Mel, who had 12-year-old Phoenix Chi with ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar and 4-year-old Angel from her relationship with Eddie Murphy. Mel and Stephen have not announced the baby’s name yet, but we are fully expecting something else with wings to strike Mel’s fancy, maybe Fairy or Robin?
Congratulations are in order for Melanie Brown and Stephen Belafonte. The couple is expecting its first child this year. Sources say the former Spice Girl will give birth to her third baby this summer. She has a 12-year-old daughter named Phoenix and a three-year-old daughter named Iris from previous relationships. “We’re really thrilled,” Brown told Great Britain’s Hello Magazine . “We wouldn’t have planned and waited for four years to have a baby if we weren’t excited and ready for it.” Interestingly, Brown’s former singing pals, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham, are also pregnant. Forget “zigazig ha.” Looks like what these women want, what they really, really want, is to have a family. [Photo: Pacific Coast News]
