Andre 3000 in Jimi Hendrix Biopic: First Look!

It isn’t a polaroid picture (don’t worry, I hate myself for going there), but it is a first  All Is By My Side image showing Andre 3000 as the legendary Jimi Hendrix. Starring along with Andre Benjamin are Imogen Poots, Ruth Negga, and Hayley Atwell.  The story follows the musician’s transition from Jimmy James, an unknown, to Jimi Hendrix, an icon. The film will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. No date has been set for wide release.

Mermaids: New Evidence Nets Record Ratings, Raises Viewer Questions

There’s no way… is there? A documentary that aired over the weekend on Discovery’s Animal Planet has raised new questions over the existence of mermaids. Aptly titled Mermaids: The New Evidence , the series examines the myth and the rumors surrounding these aquatic hominids. It is a follow-up to 2012’s Mermaids: The Body Found . The program netted record ratings for the network, despite The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration stating that “no evidence” of these creatures has ever been found. This is the End Character Posters: Arrived!

What do you call character posters when the actors in a film aren’t really playing characters? Actor posters? Meta-character posters? Shmaracter posters (as in “character posters, shmaracter posters”)? Regardless, a whole bunch of new shmaracter posters have dropped for  This is the End , including this one of James Franco: Click the link to see the  This is the End character posters for all six of the main cast members. Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson round out the group of six friends who face the end of the world when a cataclysmic event strikes Los Angeles. Rogen co-wrote and co-directed the film with his writing partner Evan Goldberg. This is the End premieres June 12.

Demi Lovato Announces First-Ever eBook

Demi Lovato screeched in delight last week when she saw Ben Stiller on the streets of New York. But now the singer has a new reason to be excited: her first-ever eBook! “I have an eBook coming out!! Exclusively for iPad!! Aaaand you can pre-order it NOW!!!!!” The X Factor judge Tweeted today along with a link to the pre-order page. Titled Demi , the online tome will feature fresh footage from Lovato’s music video shoots, along with personal photos and insight into her new album. There will also be a special forewood by Ryan Seacrest and backstage highlights from Demi’s tour. In other words: it’s a must-have for all hardcore fans.

Much Ado About Nothing Clip: I Am An Ass!

Nathan Fillion is such an ass in this pretty funny new clip from  Much Ado About Nothing . The clip also stars Riki Lindhome as the ass-accuser. Take a look: Much Ado About Nothing Clip Joss Whedon directs the present-day adaptation of the Shakespeare play. The story follows two couples with very different takes on love. Amy Acker, Reed Diamond, Alexis Denisof, Clark Gregg, Fran Kranz, Spencer Treat Clark, and Ashley Johnson also star. Much Ado About Nothing premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. It hits theaters June 7.
