We’re also fairly certain that she’s not Queen’s more recent partner, dancer/choreographer Eboni Nichols who recently accompanied Queen Latifah on her Italian vacation this summer. According to Sister 2 Sister: Despite what NeNe Leakes has to say about it, Cynthia Bailey asserts that she was loyal to her former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” bestie. “I was a loyal friend to @NeNeLeakes. #truth,” tweeted Cynthia Sunday night while NeNe publicly questioned that loyalty on “Watch What Happens Live.” NeNe, who damaged the friendship by calling Cynthia’s husband Peter a “b*tc#,” suggested that a true friend would forgive and not start hanging out with haters. “When you have a friend and they do something wrong or something you don’t like, I don’t think you align yourself with the enemy. You stick with your friend and you say, ‘Look we were friends. You did this and I did not like that,’ but at the end of the day you don’t align yourself with the enemy,” NeNe said. Peter Thomas, whose disappointment in NeNe’s behavior at a charity event hosted by Kenya Moore turned into an argument, said it’s NeNe who doesn’t know how to be a friend. “Challenging Mrs. Leakes is apparently something you don’t do. I guess it’s obvious that I didn’t get that memo,” wrote Peter in an UptownMagazine.com blog Though he’s caught a lot of flack for being one of the most vocal husbands on the show, Peter said he’s not apologizing for expressing his disappointment in NeNe. “I still think my friend was way out of line in the way she acted,” wrote Peter who pointed out (again) that NeNe asked him for his thoughts that night. He did not volunteer them to her. “I am very disappointed in my friend’s inability to accept responsibility for her actions. Academy Award winner Joan Fontaine, a legendary Hollywood leading lady from what many consider the Golden Age of film, has died at age 96. Fontaine died in her sleep Sunday morning at her home in Carmel, Calif., which overlooked the Pacific Ocean, after having been in failing health. Noel Beutel, a longtime friend of the late actress, told Reuters, “She was an amazing woman, she had such a big heart and she will be missed.” Among Fontaine’s most memorable films in a career spanning four decades and some four dozen films was the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Suspicion. Co-starring Cary Grant, that movie earned Joan Fontaine the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1942, beating out her sister in the competition. That was a recurring theme. In addition to acting, her career was marked by a storied and bitter rivalry with her older sister, Olivia de Havilland. Nominated that year for Hold Back the Dawn, de Havilland went on to win Academy Awards for 1946’s To Each His Own and 1969’s The Heiress . Now aged 97, de Havilland resides in Paris. Her wins established the sisters as the only two siblings ever to both win Academy Awards for acting. Fontaine also earned Oscar nominations for her star turns in Hitchcock’s 1940 American debut, Rebecca , and for 1943’s The Constant Nymph . Fontaine appeared mousy and innocent in her early movies but later carefully selected her roles and went on to play worldly, sophisticated women/ She wrote in her 1978 autobiography, “No Bed of Roses,” that her sickly condition as a child actually helped develop her acting skills over the years. In her sickbed fantasies – pillow dreams, she called them – Joan Fontaine created “endless scenes of romance, passion, jealousy, rejection, death. De Havilland, for her part, reportedly saw her younger sister as a sneaky attention-getter, melodramatically playing sick and trying to outdo her. According to various media reports, the sisters were said to have stopped speaking altogether in 1975 after their mother passed away from cancer. Fontaine said that de Havilland had not invited her to the memorial service but her sister claimed Fontaine had said she was too busy to attend. “I married first, won the Oscar before Olivia did, and if I die first, she’ll undoubtedly be livid because I beat her to it,” Fontaine was quoted as saying.
Scary news today out of Asia: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale has hit the Japanese prefecture that houses that nation’s Fukushima power plant, the same one that was crippled when a tsunami struck in March 2011. In response to today’s event, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has ordered Tokyo Electric Power Co. to shut down all six reactors at the facility and focus on tackling pressing issues such as leaks of radioactive water. Thus far, the company has not reported any abnormality in radiation or equipment after the earthquake. The 2011 natural disaster resulted in three reactors melting, with officials confirming that radioactive groundwater has been seeping into the Pacific Ocean.

Via CNN reports : Delbert Belton, a retired aluminum company worker, served in the Pacific. There, friends say, he took a bullet in the leg during the Battle of Okinawa. But Wednesday night, Belton — affectionately called “Shorty” by friends for his height — headed to the Eagles Lodge where he was a regular. Police found him in the parking lot, with serious head injuries. He died Thursday. “It does appear random,” Spokane police Lt. Mark Griffiths told reporters. “It appears he was assaulted in the parking lot and there was no indication that he would have known these people prior to the assault.” The randomness of the two attacks was not lost on Ted Denison, who’s been friends with Belton for a long time. The two men met more than 20 years ago and worked on cars together. “We were mechanic buddies,” the 42-year-old Denison said. “We just kind of kicked right along… We went dancing on Saturday nights,” Denison said. “We went out to breakfast together.” Belton stopped by the Eagles Lodge two or three times a week. He played pool, but by his own admission, wasn’t too good at it. “He went up there and played pool, met with some of the guys he used to work with at Kaiser Aluminum,” where he was employed more than 30 years, Denison said. His wife died several years ago. The WW II vet is survived by a son, 65. Wednesday night, Denison was outside the lodge waiting for a friend because he didn’t want her to walk home alone, Lillian Duncan told the Spokesman-Review newspaper. “He was so awesome,” Duncan told the paper. “Anybody that didn’t get to know him missed out on a wonderful angel in their life.” Police are looking for two suspects. Witnesses described them as “young African American males of average build,” according to a police statement. What is with these teenagers picking folks at “random” for brutal murkings? The saddest part, besides Delbert’s death of course, is that these ain’t isht thugs are definitely making life harder for the Trayvons of the world. Everybody ain’t like this, but you know people are looking for any excuse to justify their fear of the black man. SMH. We hope they catch these a$$holes ASAP. If you’re thinking it’s all paradise south of the border, you’re dead wrong . Another alarming attack went down in Cancun this Sunday. Via NYDailyNews reports : Six people were strangled to death and one decapitated in the southern Mexican tourist resort of Cancun on Sunday, the state’s deputy attorney general said, in the latest mass killing to strike the city in the last few weeks. Police found the bodies of the five men and two women in a shack in the outskirts of Cancun, a major tourist destination on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, that has largely escaped the drug-related violence that has racked Acapulco, a faded tourist destination on the Pacific coast. “It looks like the victims were independent drug dealers without any links to any specific cartel,” said Juan Ignacio Hernandez, deputy attorney general of Quintana Roo state. Last month six people died and five were injured after two men opened fire in a bar on the outskirts of Cancun. In a separate incident, police on Sunday found the body of another man in Cancun who had been gagged, bound and wrapped in sheets. Police have made some arrests in this case, but it seems like there’s been no end in sight for the violence in Mexico, where some 70,000 people have been killed in the last six years! Shutterstock
Lindsay Lohan is sticking with maligned lawyer Mark Heller in her upcoming trial, while witnesses are being subpoenaed to testify against her. She apparently doesn’t care that the celebrity news media – and the JUDGE – think Heller is a bumbling fool. The troubled star says “It’s all lies.” Sure it is. Judge James Dabney said bluntly that if she sticks with Heller, she has to waive her right under California law to a competent legal representation. How’s that for a vote of confidence! SIDE NOTE : Father of the Decade Michael Lohan reportedly reached out to his daughter and offered to pay for a new lawyer. She turned him down. Heller was absolutely berated at a pretrial hearing in the case, just weeks after Lohan fired longtime lawyer Shawn Holley for unknown reasons. Maybe he’s just trying to set expectations so low he can’t help but shine at trial? In any case, the man does not give the impression that he has a clue. Lindsay has 12 days to change her mind, because her criminal trial kicks off on March 18. She faces up to eight months in jail for lying to police. That also triggered a probation violation, because the terms of her probation require her to obey all laws, which she has a major problem doing. While there’s been talk of her avoiding jail and rehab in a plea deal, nothing has been finalized, and the D.A. looks ready to try the case if needed. Her former assistant Gavin Doyle ready to testify against her, as are her bodyguard and hotel staff who saw her the day of her infamous car crash. Lohan wrecked her car on the Pacific Coast Highway in June and said Doyle was driving. Officials believe Lindsay was in fact behind the wheel. The bodyguard is described as “a reluctant witness and doesn’t want to testify, but he has no choice in the matter now as he has been subpoenaed.” Hotel staffers have also been subpoenaed and are expected to testify that they saw the 26-year-old star get behind the wheel that day, not Doyle. Word of advice, Lindsay Lohan . The deck is completely stacked against you here (entirely of your own doing, but still). Open your eyes, girl. Take the plea deal. Any plea deal. And go to rehab already.
