Mo’ne Davis who covered Sports Illustrated in 2014 after becoming the first female to pitch in a Little League World Series win and to throw a shutout post-season, is attending Hampton University next fall. The Philadelphia Tribune reports that Mo’Ne selected Hampton over Bethune-Cookman University, Southern University, Coppin State University, the University of Massachusetts and the University of Pennsylvania. She was attracted to the HBCU’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and will apparently major in some field of communications. Monica Jordan Was Convicted Of Felony Arson in 2008; Police Believe Jordan Murdered Ex-Baseball Player Darryl Hamilton Before Committing Suicide The lawyer who cops believe murdered former Major League Baseball player Darryl Hamilton before turning the gun herself pled guilty to torching her own marital home in 2006, BOSSIP has learned. Police said Monica Jordan shot Hamilton , 50, before ending her own life at their Pearland, Tx. home on Father’s Day. Jordan was the mother of their one-year-old son, who was at home at the time of the killings, but wasn’t harmed. BOSSIP can reveal that Jordan, 44, pled guilty to felony arson following the shocking 2006 incident where she admitted using a flammable liquid to set her own house on fire. The destructive move was apparently to get back at her now ex-husband Rohaven Richards, who had his stuff inside the house. The indictment said she knew the house was insured against arson, though it wasn’t clear Monday how much damage the fire caused. Despite the arson, and their eventual divorce, Richards still had a soft spot for Jordan, even writing a good character letter on her behalf to the judge. Richards didn’t respond to BOSSIP’s request for comment. Their divorce papers are sealed. She took a plea in 2008, copping to felony second-degree arson, and received 10 years of probation, according to records from the Brazoria County Court in Texas. However, in 2010 the probation was “deferred,” meaning that it would be dropped if she stayed out of trouble. Not much is known about Jordan except her crimes and that she’s been practicing law for 20 years. But Hamilton played professionally from 1988 to 2001, playing with four playoff teams before retiring and joining the MLB Network as an analyst in 2013.

Via CNN reports : Delbert Belton, a retired aluminum company worker, served in the Pacific. There, friends say, he took a bullet in the leg during the Battle of Okinawa. But Wednesday night, Belton — affectionately called “Shorty” by friends for his height — headed to the Eagles Lodge where he was a regular. Police found him in the parking lot, with serious head injuries. He died Thursday. “It does appear random,” Spokane police Lt. Mark Griffiths told reporters. “It appears he was assaulted in the parking lot and there was no indication that he would have known these people prior to the assault.” The randomness of the two attacks was not lost on Ted Denison, who’s been friends with Belton for a long time. The two men met more than 20 years ago and worked on cars together. “We were mechanic buddies,” the 42-year-old Denison said. “We just kind of kicked right along… We went dancing on Saturday nights,” Denison said. “We went out to breakfast together.” Belton stopped by the Eagles Lodge two or three times a week. He played pool, but by his own admission, wasn’t too good at it. “He went up there and played pool, met with some of the guys he used to work with at Kaiser Aluminum,” where he was employed more than 30 years, Denison said. His wife died several years ago. The WW II vet is survived by a son, 65. Wednesday night, Denison was outside the lodge waiting for a friend because he didn’t want her to walk home alone, Lillian Duncan told the Spokesman-Review newspaper. “He was so awesome,” Duncan told the paper. “Anybody that didn’t get to know him missed out on a wonderful angel in their life.” Police are looking for two suspects. Witnesses described them as “young African American males of average build,” according to a police statement. What is with these teenagers picking folks at “random” for brutal murkings? The saddest part, besides Delbert’s death of course, is that these ain’t isht thugs are definitely making life harder for the Trayvons of the world. On December 4, she will receive the Trevor Project’s Trevor Hero Award for her advocacy on behalf to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. “Our young people are at the center of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga have stepped up to the challenge of helping change our culture,” said David McFarland, interim executive director and CEO of the Trevor Project. “Our honorees are working with the Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow. We are proud to honor Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award for her work to encourage young people to express their true selves with pride.” True to form, the 25-year-old Lady Gaga recently announced the launch of the Born This Way Foundation with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta. The foundation aims to promote “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as a means to create positive change.”
