It’s been quite a day , and quite a week for Oscar watchers, but just imagine what Academy president Tom Sherak and Co. have been dealing with on the inside of the RatnerGate hullaballoo! They’re probably thanking their lucky stars for Oscar-winning uber-producer Brian Grazer, who has agreed to step in to patch together the 2012 Academy Award telecast. File Scream 4 among one of my biggest curiosities of the spring. After all, its legendarily confused shoot seemed like a harbinger of bad things to come, but the marketing has been airtight — filled with the energy, humor and multitude of Ghostface suspects that recall the original Scream . One person we can probably scratch off that list of possible killers, though? Alison Brie! An official look at the Community star walking through an empty parking garage has arrived online, and it seems like the calm before the storm. Academy Civil War Brewing Over 2012 Oscar Hosts?

The Great Oscar Host Debacle of 2011 remains an open wound today at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, from which Academy president Tom Sherak ruminated about the efficacy (or lack thereof) of James Franco, Anne Hathaway, and/or any comics who might have assumed their places. But the real fun starts, however, with the told-you-so moment supplied by an anonymous, “high-ranking Academy member.”

Academy: Jean-Luc Godard Will Accept His Oscar

This is just getting ridiculous: AMPAS issued a statement late Tuesday announcing that stroppy New Wave pioneer Jean-Luc Godard had not only sent a handwritten reply to news of his honorary Oscar win, but an acknowledgment that “schedule permitting, he would come to Los Angeles for the November 13 Governors Awards event.” Schedule permitting! Who’s he kidding? He probably booked that day for Hyundai maintenance weeks ago. [ Deadline ]
