The Writer of Elektra And Inspector Gadget Calls Spider-Man ‘Cheesy’

Speaking to Coming Soon, Zak Penn, the man who gave us Last Action Hero , Elektra and the third X-Men movie, claims that, for all his comic book movie credits, the only hero he didn’t want was Spider-Man. “Actually Spider-Man was one of the only ones I didn’t want to do because I thought it was a little too cheesy.” Again, that’s the visionary who wrote the virtually unwatchable Elektra , which features a resurrected assassin who has OCD, crapping on two of the best superhero movies ever made (we’ll ignore the studio-driven mess of the third). Glass house? Blackened pot? Willfully obtuse? I can’t figure out which one best suits him. [ Coming Soon ]

Dog The Bounty Hunter Bailed Out Nicolas Cage & Other Fun Facts

As Nicolas Cage settles back into life after lock-up, a couple choice nuggets about his fateful arrest have emerged. First, it appears that Cage stumbled into a New Orleans tattoo shop, seemingly arguing with his harried wife, and demanded to be tattooed. He also asked said tattoo shop proprietors to call the cops because he “just didn’t remember where he lived.” So maybe Cage daring the cops to arrest him was all part of his ingenious plan? And once he was arrested, celebrity bondsman and total non-racist Dog Chapman, was the one to bail him out. God, Nicolas Cage even has to get bailed out extravagantly. Check out the photos from the tattoo shop below. [ TMZ ]

So, What Was Up With The Ending To Scream 4?

Scream 4 had a rocky road to your local multiplex, going through multiple script revisions , much to the chagrin of its director and actors . But given the infinite number of possibilities that a Scream 4 script could go in, the ending that audiences saw was, to my eyes at least, odd and particularly unsatisfying. Is this really the ending (and the killer) that director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson intended? Major Scream 4 spoilers ahoy !

Neve Campbell is as Injury-Prone as Sidney Prescott

I’ve got major Scream 4 ghostface fever, so I’m treating you to wonderfully senseless non-news about Neve Campbell. Hooray! Turns out the 37-year-old actress has a list of injuries as awful as her Scream character’s, and a dead-eyed boyfriend didn’t even have to chase her upstairs first. Take a gander at Neve Campbell’s spellbinding scroll of abrasions after the jump.

TRAILER: Could Friends with Benefits Be the Movie No Strings Attached Wished It Was?

Confession time: I love Justin Timberlake. Not his music career, mind you — though who doesn’t love a little ” Rock Your Body ” every once in a while — but his acting one. You can grumble that he jumped the shark with endless appearances on SNL and his performance as himself — er, Sean Parker in The Social Network , but for my money, Timberlake constantly hits it out of the park. He even makes something as disposable as Bad Teacher look moderately watchable in a “Let’s wait to see it on a Wednesday night on HBO2 !” sort of way. All of which is a long way around saying that his presence in Friends with Benefits is key to making this summer rom-com look positively charming.

Here’s Wes Craven With the Most Depressing Scream 4 Quote Yet

“What’s your favorite scary movie?” Ghostface, I’m glad you asked. Mine’s the continuing saga of Scream 4 ‘s devolution into a mutiny. Woodsboro mayor Wes Craven just confirmed that the backstage goings-on were as scary (and disheartening) as we imagined. Click through for a painful quote about the new movie from the horror master.

Help Caption This Pre-Murder Picture of Alison Brie in Scream 4

File Scream 4 among one of my biggest curiosities of the spring. After all, its legendarily confused shoot seemed like a harbinger of bad things to come, but the marketing has been airtight — filled with the energy, humor and multitude of Ghostface suspects that recall the original Scream . One person we can probably scratch off that list of possible killers, though? Alison Brie! An official look at the Community star walking through an empty parking garage has arrived online, and it seems like the calm before the storm. Or in Scream -speak, the calm before someone gets brutally murdered. Click ahead and caption away.

Fighter Producer Todd Lieberman Chats About His First Awards-Season Marathon

Just as The Fighter was a near-lock to earn Oscar nominations today, it’s a near-lock to win at least one or two statuettes during the Feb. 27 ceremony. If you had predicted this eventuality six years ago when Todd Lieberman and his producing partner David Hoberman first undertook the project — a troubled drama amid a development slate that included Beauty Shop and The Shaggy Dog — the producers might have driven you to the hospital themselves. But those crowd-pleasing roots grew into the film The Fighter is today — an awards-season juggernaut for Best Picture rookies Lieberman, Hoberman and star/co-producer Mark Wahlberg.
