Chance the Rapper Believes Fans Want Him To Kill Himself Over ‘The Big Day’ Album

Source: Emma McIntyre / Getty Chance the Rapper’s “debut” album The Big Day isn’t getting the rave reviews the rapper thought it would. He took to Twitter to respond to the criticism and had some very eye-opening responses. The album which boasts appearances from Ari Lennox , Gucci Mane, CocoRosie and more is just isn’t impressing fans. Chance’s response to the negative takes on his album was quite interesting. The Acid Rap crafter claimed he believes some of his supporters want him to kill himself. I’m getting this crazy feeling that people want me to kill myself — The Big Day out now (@chancetherapper) August 5, 2019 He quickly reassured fans he has no intentions of inflicting self-harm on himself, stating in another Tweet: “That’s not my vibe at all, but I feel the push.” That’s not my vibe at all, but i feel the push. — The Big Day out now (@chancetherapper) August 5, 2019 The moment of self-reflection continued with Chance using his Twitter account to “let some of these feelings go” in a thread of Tweets. He touched on how feels people want him to be ashamed before showing appreciation to those who reached out to him over the past few days. He also expressed his happiness for being able to spend time with his family and doing things he used to before getting consumed in the album-making process. And I feel like even more than that, some people want me to feel ashamed. — The Big Day out now (@chancetherapper) August 5, 2019 Shame is heavy yo. And feeling shame for something that you were once prideful about is super heavy. — The Big Day out now (@chancetherapper) August 5, 2019 He closed out the conversation with a joke pointing out that 100% thing he is sure of is that he loves his wife. The clever swipe is a jab at criticism from fans who claim that all he rapped about on the album. That I LOVE my wife — The Big Day out now (@chancetherapper) August 5, 2019 Its clear Chance is sensitive about his work, and the negative reviews hit him a bit hard. But as long as he still in a good place mentally is all the matters, cause that Tweet talking about suicide is a bit scary. You can head here to read the entire thread . — Photo: Emma McIntyre / Getty

It Seems Trevante Rhodes Is Engaged, Y’all

Source: The Washington Post / Getty If you’ve been repeat watching  Moonlight  and  Bird Box  just to lust after Trevante Rhodes because you claim him as your man in your head, you might have to cool out on that. It looks as though the 29-year-old actor is engaged to be married to fitness model Mara Wright . According to TheYBF, a family member of Wright’s posted a picture of the couple to her InstaStories with a “Congratulations” banner, hearts, and as you can see, a rock on that  finger. In the slide that follows the image, Rhodes can be be seen raising a glass with people who seem to be members of Wright’s family as they speak in German. She’s been in a couple of short films projects, done some theater and has background in improv comedy. Oh, and if you’re thinking about trying to come near her man (if you can find him because he never shows his face on social media), think again. She is trained in martial arts, including Tae Kwon Do, karate and jiu-jitsu. She’s also done sword, staff and dagger training because…why not? We settle for sixes and sevens [that’s] why we get divorces,” he said. “But when you find your 10, why would you waste your time with anyone else? You bust your a– to get it, and keep it. Unholy: The Pastor Cursed The Landlord’s Firstborn Child

Source: Mongkol Nitirojsakul / EyeEm / Getty There are about a million reasons why. Perhaps people are considering the ways religion has been used to oppress people church membership across the entire nation has declined significantly . It might have something to do with people leaning into spirituality over religiosity. And being in church all my life, until today, I recognize that there is quite a bit of foolishness that transpires within the four walls of the church. There are some who would argue that we shouldn’t speak ill of the church, that we should seek to highlight the positive. While there is certainly more room to speak about all the good that has come to and through church. But if you love something or someone, you want them to do and be better. And that only comes through critique. With that in mind, we’ll be sharing some stories from church that will make you realize that the church has some work to do if they want to remain a viable entity in the coming decades. This first story of folly comes from a storefront church in a borough in New York City. This is not the church I currently attend but circumstances found me in this particular church one day. I consider myself in touch and in tune with my spirit and from the minute the pastor started speaking in this place, I knew it wasn’t where I needed to be. In fact, I had a physical reaction to being in the space. I was shaking with anxiety because I knew so much of what was happening, what was being said had very little to do with Jesus, his daddy or his homie the Holy Spirit. So I vowed never to set foot in there again. Luckily for me, it’s one I’ve been able to uphold. And after I learned of a subsequent issue from that church, I knew I’d made the right decision. Months after I’d attended and advised my friend to leave as well, he sent me a troubling voicemail. In it, the head pastor of the church, stood behind the pulpit and cursed the landlord and his family. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Please be sure to open and click your first newsletter so we can confirm your subscription. Email Submit My friend recorded it: “Hear what I will proclaim here today. Let me give you the prophetic right now. This building—because of what he did to the church, any business that come in here will never prosper. I know y’all don’t like when I get in the prophetic but I will proclaim it as a prophet of God. I release it that nothing will prosper here. It don’t matter what they put. I release it and it shall be so. Watch and see. That hair salon that will come here? Six months. That liquor shop that they got planned for? Five weeks. Watch God. It will not stand. They will always have to have a sign up there and he will never get anyone to stay permanently. It will never happen. I curse this building. I curse it in the name of Jesus. Y’all don’t like it but that’s alright. I curse it today. Then, the pastor took it a step further. And I curse his loins! Someone in the congregation shouted, “Oh! That’s what I’m talking about.”  The encouragement worked. The pastor continued, getting louder. “You mess with God and God gon’ mess with you! I saw today his firstborn will die! I curse this building by the blood of the lamb. Too long. Six years of hardship. You pay the rent and they still bother you. Six years of trouble and because of that,  I release one of the greatest curse in this neighborhood.” The crowd claps and there are sporadic amens. “I say it in Jesus mighty name.” As the pastor takes her seat, someone  laughs at the landlord’s pending misfortune. Then the next person stepping up with the pulpit quotes scripture to support the pastor’s claims, “Touch not God’s anointed. He didn’t understand, he’s going to understand now.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). I don’t even have the time to break down the levels of wrong here. Do New York landlords have a tendency to be greedy, predatory and difficult? Yes. But squabbling over money before you ultimately decide to leave a space anyway, doesn’t warrant the death of this man’s firstborn child. For those of you a little rusty on your biblical stories, this curse on the landlord’s firstborn is a reference to Moses and Pharaoh. When Moses was trying to convince the Pharaoh to let his people leave bondage, God sent seven (or 10 depending on how you count) plagues to the land of Egypt. Water turned to blood. The kingdom was overrun with frogs, lice, and flies, livestock died, the people developed boils, there was hail, locusts, darkness and lastly the firstborn children in every family died—unless their house was covered by the blood of the lamb. Even if the landlord was a true asshole, I doubt he did anything as heinous as keeping an entire population  of people in slavery. But the gag is, God sent those plagues. And He did it to prove that He was God. Not Moses. I think we all know that God is the only one who can give and take life. And a woman or man of God shouldn’t attempt to play God by cursing someone’s child over a piece of real estate. Stevie J Gets Arrest Warrant For Joseline Hernandez, Custody Battle Getting Ugly

Source: Brian To/WENN.com / WENN Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez clearly do not get along, and their child is going to suffer. A judge issued an arrest warrant for Joseline after she didn’t allow the producer and fellow reality star to visit his daughter. TMZ detailed the struggle: Stevie had a right to take custody of their 2-year-old daughter,  Bonnie Bella from July 28 to August 11. Joseline was in Miami shooting “Marriage Boot Camp,” so he traveled there on the 28 to pick up his daughter. According to court documents, obtained by TMZ, instead of turning Bonnie Bella over, Joseline took the child and flew to L.A. After Stevie’s attorney,  Adamma McKinnon ran to court, the judge in the custody case issued an arrest warrant Thursday, ordering Joseline to turn the baby over STAT or she would be taken into custody. We’ve learned Stevie J flew to L.A. late Friday and the stage is now set for a showdown. The judge made it clear … if Joseline doesn’t turn the child over, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. is ordered to immediately arrest her. And, there’s more … because Joseline violated the custody agreement — which gave her physical custody and Stevie J visitation — the judge switched it around and now Stevie has sole physical custody of Bonnie Bella … until August 15 when they’re back in Fulton County court. Fortunately for Joseline, she reportedly handed Bonnie Bella to Stevie’s adult daughter in Miami. She and the baby are now on their way back to Los Angeles. We’re going to guess the Love & Hip-Hop cameras weren’t around.

Dr. Hill hooded Johnson during her graduation ceremony. For Johnson, representation in STEM is important. She is using her journey as an avenue to inspire others; similar to how Dr. Hill inspired her to break barriers in computer science. “I don’t look the stereotypical computer scientist,” she told The Exponent in a statement. “You don’t find many black women in this academic space. This is what computer science can look like.” Outside of her studies, Johnson has been dedicated to paying it forward and empowering the next generation of tech leaders. Gibbs, Christina Elmore, Gabrielle Graham and Sophina Brown. Marvel Has Reportedly Found Its Villain for ‘Black Panther 2’

Source: Marvel Studios / Marvel Studios A few weeks ago at San Diego’s Comic Con Marvel revealed it’s movie slate for MCU’s phase 4 which included some highly anticipated projects including Blade starring Mahershala Ali as the vampire killing Daywalker and Thor 4, but noticeably absent was any mention of the sequel to everyone’s favorite Black superhero, Black Panther 2 . Though we know it’s definitely happening and director Ryan Coogler is penning the script, we haven’t gotten much else other than rumors about Killmonger possibly returning to Wakanda (Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige basically shot that rumor down recently). While official word on Black Panther 2 remains scarce, We Got This Covered is reporting that the villain for the highly anticipated sequel has been nailed down and it’s none other than the merman known as Namor.  The Sub-Mariner will be T’Challa’s main antagonist when we all return to Wakanda for the next adventure. According to our sources – the same ones who told us that the real Mandarin will appear in Shang-Chi and Taskmaster will be the villain inBlack Widow, both of which were later confirmed by Marvel – the studio has chosen Namor to be the main antagonist of Black Panther 2. The specifics of his role are still a bit unclear, but like we said above, the sequel will see him trying to take control of Wakanda and become its ruler. As with any scoop of this kind, we imagine Marvel may deny it publicly as they so often do, but as we mentioned above, our sources are usually pretty reliable, so we feel fully confident in their intel. And while things can always change in the development process given how early on it still is, for now, it seems that Namor will finally be making his big screen debut in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 2 . This shouldn’t come as a surprise as rabbit-eared fans caught the easter egg in Avengers: Endgame when Okoye mentioned underwater earthquakes off the coast of Africa. Could it be the city of Atlantis readying to make its presence known to the world? We don’t know but fans were quick to point out the possibility and that Namor would soon be joining Marvel’s cinematic universe. Though Marvel hasn’t confirmed the news We Got This Covered is also reporting that they’re eyeing Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding to take on the role of the hotheaded anti-hero. No word yet on when Black Panther 2 will be making its way into theaters but rumors have it dropping November of 2021 or February 2022. Either way, we can’t wait.

Traveler’s Tip: 6 American Hand Gestures That Are Offensive Overseas

Source: DjelicS / Getty It’s easy (and almost natural) to use hand gestures in foreign countries where you know little to none of its native language. But, did you know some of our regular hand gestures, even as simple as a thumbs-up, are offensive overseas?   Esurance.com gathered an eye-opening list of hand gestures that have different meanings in different places. Check it out below! Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Please be sure to open and click your first newsletter so we can confirm your subscription. Email Submit 1. Pointing Pointing can be taken as “attitude” in many countries — America, too, in some instances. Instead of pointing, experts recommend using an open-hand gesture to motion the same acts. 2. Fingers Pressed To Your Nose We often squeeze our nose when things stink, but in Southern Italy, it means “I don’t trust you.” 3. Thumbs Up Where we’re from, a thumbs up just means “ok” or “all good,” but in some parts of the Middle East, it means “I don’t really like you.” 4. Beckoning Finger Have you ever motioned someone to come your way with your finger? Well, in places like Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and some parts of Africa, it’s almost seen as an invitation to fight: “Death to you.”   5. Peace Sign A quick two fingers in the air could signify far worst than peace in the U.K., Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, depending on how you position it. When done with your palm facing inward, it means “anti-peace.” 6. High Five A high five equates to “hey” and “way to go” in America, but in Greece and other parts of the Mediterranean hub, it kind of means “talk to the hand.”   See Esurance.com’s suggestions on how to make up for your mistakes overseas here .
