Lady Gaga sure loves her Little Monsters. SO much so that she’s setting up a free tailgate for them before her concerts – and offering free mental health care. In a Facebook post, Gaga, 26, announced that counseling will be available for fans before her Born This Way Ball shows … she’s definitely a giver. She described the concert’s BornBrave pre-show as “a fun tailgating experience for monsters to unite,” but it will also be a place where they can seek help. “At the BornBrave Bus you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends,” she wrote. “There will also be food and games,” she adds, “Plus DJ White Shadow and Lady Starlight will DJ with host BREEDLOVE to keep the experience fun.” She clarified that the BornBrave Bus will be “a place where mental health + depression are taken seriously w/ no judgement, FREE real help available to all.” “I feel like most kids don’t look for help because they feel embarrassed so mom + I wanted to break the stigmas around ‘help’ and make it fun,” she wrote. Gotta hand it to the Lady, who has been active in the fight against bullying long before the Connecticut shooting tragedy, for starting this initiative.
After the release of two scandalous teasers, Lady Gaga has tweeted her take on “Cake,” her upcoming music video shot by the legendary Terry Richardson. The Lady Gaga “Cake” videos show her in lingerie, writhing around in a pile of cake, lip-syncing a rap verse, getting spanked and taking a bath topless. Lady Gaga – Cake (Teaser) Lady Gaga – Cake (Teaser Video) The screen reads “TERRY RICHARDSON XX LADY GAGA.” XXX might be more accurate. One video closes with Lady Gaga topless in a sheer thong, her booty popping in a hot tub and conjuring up images of videos even Cinemax wouldn’t air. Gaga later tweeted her own take on “Cake.” She writes: “The real CAKE isn’t HAVING what you want, It’s DOING what you want.” Deep. Musically, the story of “Cake” began on September 19 when DJ White Shadow, a producer on Gaga’s “Born This Way” album, posted the beat on SoundCloud and encouraged his Twitter followers to help him write a song about Gaga on Garage Band. After announcing that he had found “the one” and telling Lady Gaga that she “must hear it,” DJ White Shadow posted the completed track on SoundCloud under the title “Trap AKA Cake,” with a description reading “Cake like Lady Gaga.” The rest, as they say, is history. ‘It’s Santa’s Workshop, but all Gaga stuff,’ DJ White Shadow tells MTV News of over-the-top Barneys display in New York. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga premieres the Lady Gaga Workshop at Barneys New York Photo: Getty Images On Monday night, Lady Gaga launched the holiday-themed Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys in New York. It was an event that brought out some of the city’s biggest fashionistas, many members of the Haus of Gaga (including the event’s curator and Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti) and the Mother Monster herself. DJ White Shadow, who produced several tracks on Gaga’s Born This Way, was on hand providing tunes for the big shindig. “They spent a lot of time on the installations,” he told MTV News on Tuesday afternoon (November 22). “I didn’t understand what it was until I walked up to it. It’s Santa’s Workshop, but all Gaga stuff. But the windows are super cool. They had a video installation, they had a mockup of the motorcycle on the [ Born This Way ] cover that’s spinning all the time and a Gaga crystal kingdom.” While the party and Gaga’s presence made for a hectic night, White Shadow kept partygoers dancing without any chaos. “I totally skirted around all the insanity,” he said. “[Gaga] went one way and I went the other way. I saw her parents and some friends I haven’t seen in a while. “There was some very fashionable people there,” he added. “There was a guy that had a mop on his head — like, legit, it looked like a mop — and then there was people like 17 feet tall with a nipple hanging out, and then there’s me, someone who hasn’t shaved in five days,” he joked. At Gaga’s Workshop, there are many products to pick from, ranging from chocolates to leather jackets, but there was one item that really caught White Shadow’s eye. “I just was perusing the goods … and there were some books that were her favorite books, and they have a special Barneys cover. I was trying to grab small things,” he recalled. “But there’s these hulking giant candles [in the shape of Gaga’s head] that you light from the top. It’s like you light the candles in the back and then the wax drips down through the eyes of the candle. So I was pretty impressed with it. I definitely procured one.” If that’s not enough Gaga-fied gifts in your life, next week, she’s dropping a holiday EP. A Very Gaga Holiday will include four songs that will also be featured on ABC’s “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving,” airing Thursday. What tracks made the final cut? “White Christmas” and “Orange Colored Sky,” as well as the BTW tracks “Yo
Chicago-based singer Rebecca Francescatti claims Gaga’s song is similar to a song she recorded in 1999 called ‘Juda.’ By Kara Warner Lady Gaga Photo: Michael Loccisano/ Getty Images Relatively unknown Chicago-based singer Rebecca Francescatti has filed a lawsuit against Lady Gaga for alleged copyright infringement on her hit single “Judas.” According to TMZ , Francescatti claims that “Juda,” a song she recorded in 1999 with her band Rebecca F. & the Memes, has multiple similarities with Gaga’s track, chief among them the fact that Francescatti’s former bass player Brian Gaynor is now employed by a music company that wrote 17 songs for Gaga’s Born This Way album. NBC Chicago reported that Gaynor was open with Francescatti and admitted that he was writing for and working with Gaga. Francescatti’s lawyer, Chris Niro, told TMZ that his client is seeking proper recognition for her original work. “Though the songs are different styles, the composition is the same and the chorus is the same melody,” he told the site. “[Rebecca] is seeking recognition for what she created.” By “recognition,” Francescatti means money she believes is owed to her. In the lawsuit, a copy of which was obtained by the Huffington Post , Francescatti names Gaga, Interscope Records, Universal Music Group, DJ White Shadow and sound engineer Brian Joseph Gaynor as participants in creating the single “Judas,” a song that bears “a substantial similarity” to “Juda” in that Gaga allegedly “copied and incorporated substantial, original portions” of the work, though it was previously copyrighted and recorded with Gaynor. Francescatti is reportedly seeking a cut from the profits “Judas” has earned. Do you think the two songs are similar? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Lady Gaga
As Born This Way rules the charts another week, producer DJ White Shadow says Gaga hasn’t changed since they first met. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images As Lady Gaga holds onto the #1 spot on Billboard, for the second straight week, with her chart-topping album Born This Way, DJ White Shadow is no doubt enjoying the success. When we caught up with the producer recently, he told us how their collaboration started off as a long-distance relationship. Back in 2009, White Shadow was approached to work on a co-headlining tour for Lady Gaga and Kanye West. After their Fame Kills Tour was canceled , though, Shadow was asked to focus on the next phase in Gaga’s career. The producer and the pop star had already built quite a foundation by the time they finally met in person in the summer of 2010. And while Shadow wasn’t completely sure what the encounter would be like, he had some clue that they would get along famously. “We had talked for so long before [we met in person]. We had talked on the phone or talked on iChat, in emails; I think we kind of knew about each other’s personalities,” he told MTV News. “I mean, obviously, I was excited to meet her. I felt like we were long-distance pen pals.” What he found out is that despite all of the unusual costumes, Gaga is a pretty regular 25-year-old. “She’s, like, super cool. I think everybody gets weirded out by ‘Oh, she looks so crazy on those 25-inch heels and the hair-bow,’ or whatever’s going on at the time, but she’s just a normal girl. Like, she’s funny. She’s really funny and super cool.” Shadow worked closely with Gaga and BTW musical director Fernando Garibay to create a pop album that would push the envelope. The DJ/producer worked on heavy-hitting tracks like “Born This Way,” “Government Hooker,” “Americano” and “Bloody Mary,” to name a few. So, how is Gaga as a boss, we wanted to know. “She’s the best boss. She’s a great friend,” he said. “She’s amazing. “Here’s the funny thing about this: People ask that question but I’m telling you, ’cause everyone wants to [know], ‘Does she say something to you as her friend or someone you know that she writes music with that she doesn’t say to us? Does she talk about New York in a way that she wouldn’t have done into a camera?’ And the answer is no,” he explained. “I’ve never seen her say something that was disingenuous.” Bottom line: Gaga is always Gaga. “The stories that she tells, the way that she looks on camera and the way that she acts … that’s how she is. That’s her character. She is the same.” In fact, like most New Yorkers, Gaga loves to shop for a good bargain. “I was walking down the street in front of the studio one day and she’s shopping for $20 shoes. She’s New York. We’ve been to dinner a couple times … just go to normal restaurants. It’s New York, it’s her home, right?” he said. “So, I’ve definitely heard all the stories that she’s telling. She’s very open.” What’s your favorite Born This Way track? Tell us in the comments! Related Videos Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside Related Artists Lady Gaga
