Madonna Rocked To Kreayshawn, French Films Making MDNA

‘We liked what we’re doing in this current time and space,’ producer William Orbit tells MTV News about working with the Queen of Pop. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna Photo: Courtesy of Interscope When Madonna hit the studio with longtime pal William Orbit to work on MDNA , in between brainstorming and recording sessions for the tracks, the twosome also shared many laughs. And in the lull of long recording sessions, they zeroed in on fun, instead of deconstructing the current musical landscape. When Orbit spoke to MTV News about making the album, he insisted that despite the flurry of pop music floating around these days, they didn’t give much thought to the music on Top 40 radio. Instead, they focused on their own music and the bubble of creativity they were living in. “We never played tracks by everybody else, all the current artists. It’s a dangerous road to go down,” he said. “It doesn’t work,” he explained, because those songs are good for their own reasons, so it’s futile to find out why they were good and how that can be replicated. “We liked what we’re doing in this current time and space,” he continued. “What we tended to do was watch old French films from the ’60s or listen to music that was so far away that it wasn’t, in any way, relevant.” However, there was one person who managed to squeeze into their bubble and give them a good laugh: “I did remember, one day, there was a moment when we were waiting for Pro Tools to reboot, or something like that, and we were just looking at links on YouTube,” he recalled. “And I was showing her Kreayshawn , and I’ve been working with her, and I really like her. And she’s obviously got this track out called ‘Hoes on My Di–‘ [with the line] ” ’cause I look like Madonna.’ And, I played it for Madonna … then she was saying afterwards ‘Hoes on my di–, ’cause I am Madonna.’ That was about the only time we looked at any serious contemporary pop music.” At the end of the day, with the dance parties and Kreayshawn sing-alongs long over, Orbit insists the team couldn’t be more pleased with the way MDNA turned out. He added, “It was a good adventure, and we pulled it off.”

Madonna Teases ‘Girl Gone Wild’ Video

Clip for second single off MDNA features Madge getting sexy with male dancers. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna in “Girl Gone Wild” Photo: Interscope Madonna has dropped a video tease for her new single, “Girl Gone Wild.” It’s a black-and-white homage to her wild, sexy days in the ’90s. The fashion video — shot, fittingly enough, by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus, who also did the artwork for MDNA — is fast-paced and full of quick shots of Madonna grinding, smoking, looking longingly out in the distance and being her usual sexy self while clad in chains and latex. It’s intercut with scantily clad male dancers who are seen dancing, touching and kissing one another. It seems that the only girl gone wild in this clip is Madonna. No word on when the full video will drop. “GGW” is the second single off the March 26 album release and features production by Benny Benassi; it was recorded in New York and London. While the album’s first single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” was brighter in the way that songs early in her career were, this song is more like what fans heard during her Confessions on a Dance Floor era. “I think the majority of the record is more action-packed,” Madge teased to MTV News back in January about the highly anticipated LP. “More high-energy.” The album also features production from longtime Madonna pal William Orbit , as well as Demolition Crew, Martin Solveig, Alessandro “Alle” Benassi, Hardy “Indiigo” Muanza and Michael Malih. “With William, I didn’t really have a discussion,” Madonna said of working with Orbit. “We’ve worked on stuff for so many years that we kind of finish each other’s sentences. He knows my taste and what I like.” Related Artists Madonna

Madonna Drops New Single ‘Girl Gone Wild’

Pop icon’s inner dance-floor vixen comes out on second MDNA single. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna’s “Girl Gone Wild” Photo: Interscope Madonna kicked the party off with “Give Me All Your Luvin’, ” and she’s keeping it going with her second MDNA single, “Girl Gone Wild.” The thumping song, released Monday (February 27), proves that this era of Madonna will certainly be focused on pumping out dance-floor anthems. ” Girl Gone Wild ” is all about the heat of letting loose and dancing, certainly themes that Madge fans will find familiar. Produced by Benny Benassi, the track, though fun and funky, is a bit darker than her first single, which seemed to pay homage to the ’80s version of the pop icon in its bright nature. “I got that burnin’ hot desire/ And no one can put out my fire/ It’s coming right down through the wire/ Here it comes/ When I hear them 808 drums/ It’s got me singing,” she proclaims on the catchy, sing-along chorus. “Hey, ey, ey, ey/ Like a girl gone wild/ A good girl gone wild/ I’m like, hey, ey, ey, ey/ Like a girl gone wild/ A good girl gone wild.” The song chugs along thanks to more dance-floor confessions from the singer, which include, “The room is spinning/ It must be the Tanqueray/ I’m about to go astray/ My inhibition’s gone away/ I feel like sinning/ You got me in the zone/ DJ play my favorite song/ Turn me on.” The video was shot earlier this month and was directed by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus, who also shot the colorful artwork for the album . It had been rumored that Britney Spears would be featured on the track, but that rumor was shot down by Madonna herself. MDNA will drop on March 26. It features production from collaborators like Martin Solveig and William Orbit, Demolition Crew, Alessandro “Alle” Benassi, Hardy “Indiigo” Muanza and Michael Malih.
