Exclusive: “Broke” Kendu Isaacs Accuses MJB Profiting Off Their Divorce; Still Owes Him A $346K Salary

(Photo by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage) Martin “Kendu” Isaacs Says He’s Struggling Since Split From Singer Mary J. Blige’s soon to be ex-husband has accused her of turning a profit on their divorce as he demanded more money from the singer as they continue to battle out in their acrimonious divorce. Isaacs filed paperwork last month accusing the “Real Love” singer of withholding his pay from his work as her personal manager on her “King & Queen of Hearts” tour. Isaacs said Blige currently owes him a total of $345,820, and he hasn’t seen a dime, according to court docs. Blige’s ex also claimed his estranged wife has used him as a punching bag in the press, and despite his “aggressive” efforts, he hasn’t been able to work since she fired him in July 2016. “In fact, petitioner has financially benefitted from this divorce because she used it as a platform to promote her new music, album and tour,” Kendu wrote in court papers which were obtained by BOSSIP. “Since the divorce was initiated, she has released at least two songs that have been dubbed her ‘divorce’ songs. The evidence will show that petitioner reaped a substantial profit from this divorce.” Isaacs, 49, doubled down on his claims that he’s entitled to half of her royalties, residuals and commissions that Mary earned from her music, film and TV work during their nearly 13-year marriage, according to his filing. Isaacs – who recently said the stress of the divorce put him in the hospital – also wants her to pay his attorney’s fees. A judge will now decide how much Isaac deserves when the case heads to trial in March. Isaacs has asked for $65,000 a month in alimony payments for the rest of his life. However, Mary has contended in court papers that the $30,000 a month that she’s already paying him is too much and accused him of misappropriating $420,000 on his mistress. Continue reading →

(Photo by Kevork Djansezian) Beyoncé Helped A&R Jay Z’s ‘4:44’ Album Jay Z’s new ‘4:44’ album dominated conversations over the weekend, but No I.D., the producer responsible for scoring the project is spilling details about the project and whether or not Jay was responding to ‘Lemonade.’ In an interview with the NY Times , No I.D. says he, Hov and his engineer Guru, all agreed that the project shouldn’t be a ‘Lemonade’ response: One that I didn’t see him record that really hit me was obviously “4:44.” Me, him and Guru, his [recording] engineer, knew that we didn’t want him to do an album of “Lemonade” response. We just wanted him to respond and then let it be and still touch on other things. I created that beat to box him into telling that story. I put the sample from the singer Hannah Williams — it starts off with, “I find it so hard/When I know in my heart/I’m letting you down everyday.” I remember him hearing it and looking at me like, “O.K., fine.” He went home, wakes up at 4:44 [a.m.] and calls Guru over [to record]. I was blown away. I just walked out of the studio and wanted to go find my wife and hug her. I told him that’s the best song he’s ever written. Everything it covers about being a man, being in a relationship, being a father, how you affect your kids. These things don’t really get touched on in music, especially in hip-hop. Powerful stuff right? It’s wonderful to see hip-hop have a positive effect on black families. Isn’t it? Here’s a little bit more about how the impact of ‘Lemonade’ affected the making of ‘4:44’: No, we never directly spoke about that album. Mainly because if he talks about himself, it’s going to bleed into that regardless. But there’s a difference in talking about it for the sake of response and for the sake of honesty and the truth. The truth needs to explain why you are the way you are, why you did what you did. We know what happened. We got it. But what were the circumstances that led to this and how do you feel about it? Lastly, No I.D. reveals that Hov had plenty of help from his wife Beyoncé who offered genius level input: I always call Bey our de facto A&R. Pillow talk is the strongest conversation on the planet. Every song has to get past her ears, in my eyes. She came by a lot and played a good part in helping us get over hurdles on certain records. Of course she’s genius-level with that. Now that’s something special, incredible and amazing. We’re so happy that Jay-Z has grown to be a man capable of embracing his wife in all her power and glory and celebrating his life and achievements in a way that we can all be proud of. Welp. The coupled up Carters have done it again. Go head and let Hubby Hov upgrade you.

Mom Paralyzed After Contracting Infection From Makeup Brush, May Never Walk Again

Jo Gilchrist, stricken by an infection contracted from a makeup brush, of all things, is reportedly paralyzed and told she may never walk again as a result. The Australian mother, 27, began feeling pain in her back in February, and soon lost all feeling in her lower body and legs and had to undergo emergency surgery. Doctors found that the partial paralysis was caused by a type of staph infection that is resistant to drugs, most likely contracted from the brush she borrowed. Gilchrist’s friend reportedly had a staph infection on her face, and it spread. “It started as a dull ache and I thought it was my bad posture,” Jo said. “But it got worse and worse and got to the point I had to call one of those doctors who come to you because I couldn’t get out of bed,” she recalled. “I rate the pain worse than childbirth; I literally thought I was going to die.” According to CDC, research about 30 percent of people with staph infections carry it in their noses, with most of these cases not resulting in infection. However, those that do cause infection can be extremely serious, even fatal. Doctors originally said Gilchrist might never walk again, however, she has been making incredible strides with physical therapy and intensive treatment. Last week, she posted a Facebook video of herself standing up and taking a couple of steps. Suffice it to say, she’s not giving up and going all out. “It’s been the hardest struggle I’ve ever faced” she wrote. “I have fought with everything I have to lead to this.” Even harder than the effort her recovery takes is being apart from son Tommy, 2, while she receives treatment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Home. “I have pictures of him and his drawings all over the walls and I look at them every day,” she said, and holds out hope that she can return to normal someday. Another one of Mariah Carey’s relationships is over. Only this time, it’s a professional one. Carey’s longtime publicist, Cindi Berger, has split from the singer after 15 years of working together. Berger confirmed her split from Carey to Page Six, stating: “I have enormous respect for Mariah. She is one of the great talents and voices of our time, and I wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.” She added that although they will no longer be working together, there was nothing acrimonious about their parting of ways, and they remain on good terms: “I care very deeply for her personally, but I felt that professionally it was time for us to move on.” Berger is the Co-Chairman and CEO of powerhouse publicity company PMK•BNC. Carey, who recently split up with Nick Cannon after several years of marriage, has already signed with The Chamber Group, according to E! Online. The diva is about to start a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 6. She’ll be performing 18 (!) of her No.1 hits in the show. Is violence following Breezy & friends due to Blood-ties? LAPD Tries To Get Breezy Banned From Appearances Due To Possible Gang Affiliation We already know there are special task forces within the police department specifically geared toward manning clubs and shows of hip hop artists, but it seems the LAPD has taken it a step further. The police force is apparently trying to get Chris Brown banned from getting booked anywhere in town. They seem to be 100% sure something will go down anytime Breezy’s name is on the flyer, and by the looks of recent events , they might be right. But are they right about Chris’ speculated gang ties? Via TMZ : Someone got stabbed after a Chris Brown performance Monday night … and law enforcement tells us it’s yet another case of trouble following Brown and his entourage … something cops are quietly trying to stop. Right after Brown finished his set at a YMCMB Drake/Lil Wayne after-party at Supperclub in Hollywood … several people who were leaving got into a fight and someone got stabbed. The victim was taken to a hospital and he’s expected to be okay. Law enforcement sources tell us … they didn’t make any arrests because no one would ante up any info … which leads to the bigger issue. Our cop sources say they believe this is all about Brown’s entourage. Wherever they go … someone ends up bleeding. We’re told the LAPD has privately met with club owners, trying to pressure them into blacklisting Chris and his crew, but the clubs make too much money off them so they’re welcome with open arms. As one law enforcement source put it, “When Brown and his people show, we know what’s going to happen. It’s a headache for us.” Brown — who does not keep his association with the Bloods a secret — has not been accused of instigating the violence, but cops say they know it all emanates from the singer and his entourage. You’ll recall 3 people were shot — including Suge Knight — during a Chris Brown performance at 1OAK last month. Hmmm…typically we’d say the LAPD was just profiling again. But whether their assumptions about Chris’ gang-affiliation are correct or not — with everything that’s going on, are they right in trying to keep club goers safe from the violence that seems to follow Chris and his entourage?

It’s been a long, difficult few weeks for Ke$ha. The singer kicked off 2014 by checking into a rehab facility to deal with an eating disorder. In an unusual move, she was then joined there by her mother . Now, a day after Pebe Sebert said her daughter nearly died and blamed Ke$ha disorder on the harsh critiques of music producer Dr. Luke, a friend has spoken out on behalf of the artist. “This is Kesha’s friend,” someone wrote from the singer’s Twitter account. “She asked me to tweet an update for her because she doesn’t have access to twitter right now.” Added the pal: “She says ‘THANK YOU. SOOO MUCH. I’m overwhelmed to tears by all of the love, letters, and support!! I’ll be back soon and better than ever.’ “Ohhh and she can’t believe Timber is still number one! “Fck YEAH animals! PARTY ON!!!!” HA! It’s nice to see the singer hasn’t lost her sense of humor or her edge. We continue to wish her the best of luck in her recovery.
