The Great Harry Potter Liveblog Experiment Continues With Prisoner of Azkaban

Somehow, I have never seen a Harry Potter movie before today. Over the next two days, I will be watching all six films leading up to Tuesday night’s screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 . I will be liveblogging the entire experience because, well, why not? I’ll be checking the comments if you have any words of explanation or encouragement. We’ve got Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets down; now who’s ready for a little Prisoner of Azkaban ?

Tom Bergeron to Bristol Palin Conspiracy Theorists: ‘F*ck You.’

After a dozen years of consistent emceeing, Tom Bergeron remains one of TV’ s best and funniest hosts. On Hollywood Squares he traded spicy innuendos with Whoopi Goldberg, and as the host of Dancing with the Stars and America’s Funniest Videos he lends a stately air to glitzy proceedings. We caught up with the Emmy-winning Massachusetts native to discuss his favorite funny people, hosting nightmares, and his impatience with Bristol Palin conspiracy theorists.

Academy Announces 14 Also-Rans For Toy Story 3’s Animated Feature Oscar

Is it too early to assume that Toy Story 3 will run away with this year’s Best Animated Feature Oscar? Because everything from star Tyler Posey’s skin tone to his brooding stare to his preference to be shirtless is reminiscent of the dreamy Twilight character played by tween heartthrob Taylor Lautner.

Bah, Humbug: 5 Better Scrooges Than Jim Carrey — and 5 Worse Ones

For those of us who thought Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf was a vast improvement over The Polar Express , A Christmas Carol (out this week from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment) wound up being a disappointing return to the rubbery, dead-eyed characters of that earlier Christmas flick. But at least give Jim Carrey points for trying — he provides the license-to-ham role of Ebenezer Scrooge with his full arsenal of grimaces and twitches and, if nothing else, totally pours himself into the character. (He’s a little less successful playing all the ghosts, but none of his doubling comes close to the creepiness of seeing Gary Oldman play Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim.)
