The indictment alleges he robbed five random homes, attempted to enter a cab and threw a rock at the vehicle, causing damage. From there, he got on a bus, pulled out a screwdriver and swung it at the driver, hitting the driver in the foot, O’Brien said. Charges against King consist of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, felonious assault and aggravated menacing. If only Rodney put his super powers to use for good.

Source: Splash News / Splash News The Internet will not let stuff die, and this was proven once again when conversations around The Lion King turned into a revisiting of the Japanese anime Kimba the White Lion. The similarities are uncanny. Disney needs to speak up about this. I still love both #Kimba and #LionKing but it's just that Disney needs to admit that they were “inspired” by Kimba. pic.twitter.com/0HYMwvO51F — Crispyr (@Crispyr4) July 23, 2019 According to The Hollywood Reporter , Kimba was an animated series that aired in the 1960s and it was based on the 1950 manga Jungle Emperor created by Osamu Tezuka. Now Tezuka wasn’t just some low-level employee who did storyboards for a B-level animation studio. Tezuka, who died in 1989, is literally considered the father of manga (Japanese comics) and some have even christened him the Walt Disney of Japan (well, him and another animation great, Hayao Miyazaki ). So when The Lion King came out in 1994 claiming to be an original story, certain folks couldn’t help but notice similarities between the Disney flick and Kimba . Although Kimba has more themes dealing with animals and human interactions, both Kimba and The Lion King are coming-of-age stories focused on an African lion cub whose father was killed in the first act. Even if Kimba had different storylines, the series had similar characters to The Lion King , including a villain with a Black mane and a scar-like eye and a bird who served as the voice of reason to the lion cub. Check out more similarities for yourself below. I meeeean…. Both animations are very similar-like. Disney representatives have repeatedly said that they didn’t rip Kimba off to make The Lion King and at one point, the co-director for 1994’s The Lion King , Rob Minkoff told the Times : “Frankly, I’m not familiar with [the TV series]. I know for a fact that [ Kimba ] has never been discussed as long as I’ve been on the project.” A screenwriter on The Lion King , Linda Woolverton added, “This is the first I’ve heard of Kimba or Tezuka. I never heard anything or saw anything about his work.” Welp, that’s that, right? Nope. Hit the flip for incidents that followed that’ll have you questioning whether The Lion King might have taken more than enough inspiration from Kimba.
Source: JIJI PRESS / Getty Man Kills Starts Fire At Animation Studio, Killing And Injuring Dozens This is so sad, and the deadliest fire in two decades for Japan. According to AP News , A man screaming “You die!” burst into an animation studio in Kyoto, Tokyo, doused it with a flammable liquid and set it on fire Thursday, killing 33 people. The attack has shocked the country and brought an outpouring of grief from anime fans. Most of the victims were employees of Kyoto Animation, which does work on movies and TV. The fire sent people scrambling up the stairs toward the roof of the three-story building in a desperate attempt to escape. Unfortunately, they died. Thirty-six people in counting have been injured in the blaze, some critically and thirty-three died on site. Reportedly, the suspect is described as a 41-year-old man who did not work for the studio. He was injured and taken to a hospital. Police gave no details on the motive, but a witness told Japanese TV that the attacker angrily complained that something of his had been stolen, possibly by the company. Photos of the aftermath have been shared in Getty. This story is still developing.
Source: E. Charbonneau / Getty T he Boondocks played a heavy role in the development of many teenagers in the 2000s and now fans can rejoice in the return of the series, according to John Witherspoon. Witherspoon, 77, has played a prominent role in the animated TV show, portraying the retired grandfather Pops Freeman. Along with his grandsons, Huey and Riley, he lived in suburban Chicago facing a whirlwind of challenges and hijinks. A show that is seen as ahead of its time, The Boondocks tackled political commentary at the height of the Bush era and other pop culture references (e.g. R. Kelly’s child pornography trial). John was a guest on the Joe Rogan Podcast to discuss his career and dropped some not-so-subtle nuggets on the show’s future. “I’m on the cartoon – what is it? The Boondocks ? I didn’t change my voice for The Boondocks . And they coming back: Boondocks is coming back… It’s one of the best cartoons I’ve ever been on,” he tells Rogan. View this post on Instagram Political Niggas vs. Get Money Niggas. #BoondocksBack the following text is a message from Aaron Mcgruder “Did these for fun (and to see if I still could). More to come… exactly how much more is tough to say. These strips were only possible due to the enormous talent of my good friend Seung Kim, who did the animation for the old show – and he’s a busy guy. Thanks to him and thanks to Charlamagne for putting these out for me while I get my instagram act together.” AM A post shared by LENARD (@cthagod) on Feb 5, 2019 at 8:34am PST Details are still sketchy at the moment, as no word was mentioned regarding who was returning for the show. Aaron McGruder wasn’t involved during the development of Season 4 due to creative differences, and it’s unsure that he’ll return to the project that he created. For all we know, Witherspoon’s words should be taken with a grain of salt, as he’s also a part of the forever elusive Last Friday with Ice Cube. If Season 5 of The Boondocks does come to fruition, it would be in a very timely fashion given the current political landscape. McGruder himself has teased a number of new comic strips of The Boondocks, highlighting the current news cycle involving Robert Mueller, R. Kelly, and more. Still, this doesn’t confirm whether he’ll be returning to the television project going forward. Check out the clip of both John and JD Witherspoon on the Joe Rogan Podcast below.
Cars 3 is coming to a theater near you … with a twist. A grim, dark twist very unexpected for the franchise. The trailer portrays the main character of the series, cocky but affable race car Lightning McQueen, spinning out in the middle of a race. A slow-motion shot of McQueen busting into a cloud of wreckage, follows, and just before he hits ground, an ominous new tagline appears: “From this moment, everything will change.” One of Disney and Pixar's most commercially successful franchises, Cars is as merchandise-friendly and light-hearted as they come. What it is not, though, is … particularly deep. Whereas some Pixar films are known for emotionally complex and moving storylines, as well as their animation, Cars isn't among them. Perhaps with Disney's first look at Cars 3 – a sequel to Cars (2006) and Cars 2 (2011) – we are seeing hints that this may soon change. The original film featured brash Lightning stuck in the small town of Radiator Springs where he learned humbling lessons in life and love. The first sequel centered more on dim-witted but lovable Mater the Tow Truck being mistaken for an international super spy. Obviously. Owen Wilson will reprise his leading voice role as McQueen in the three-quel, while Larry the Cable Guy is on board as Mater again. Check out the Cars 3 teaser and join us in wondering: Might Lightning McQueen be a goner?!?
