The decision comes after the demand for soldiers has been on the rise. For this fiscal year, the Army has a challenging task of recruiting 80,000 new soldiers all while complying with the Defense Department’s regulations. Last year, there were 191 waivers granted and this year that number significantly increased to over 500. The implementation of this plan seems to be working in the military’s favor. According to the news outlet, the Army enlisted 6,000 more recruits than they did in 2016. “Provided they understand that they cannot do that when they serve in the military, I will waive that all day long,” Maj. Gen. Jeff Snow , head of the Army’s recruiting command, said in a statement according to the source. He also added that as states continue to make marijuana use legal, he expects the number of waivers to rise. Those who head up recruitment in the Army have been trying to explore different ways to recruit individuals who fall under “category four” which means they scored low on their aptitude test. Those who are classified in that category are barred from enlisting if they have any type of history with marijuana and they can’t request any waivers for other reasons. Snow says that the Army plans on maintaining its standards but will continue to find pathways for more people to enlist to increase the number of members. “The big thing we’re looking for is a pattern of misconduct where they’re going to have a problem with authority,” Snow told USA Today . “Smoking marijuana in an isolated incident as a teenager is not a pattern of misconduct.” Some critics call the increase in marijuana waivers worrisome since years ago the military ran into issues when recruits with criminal records were hurriedly enrolled in the military to meet a high demand for members during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Marijuana is currently legal in Colorado, Maryland, Washington, Oregon, California, Massachusetts, and Maine. Several other states throughout the country have lowered the penalties for possession of marijuana. Khloe Kardashian Under Fire for Offensive Veteran’s Day Photo

You’ll never believe this, but Khloe Kardashian posted a photo on social media, it was dumb and vain and pointless, and people got offended. Oh, what’s that? You have no problem at all believing it? Eh, well. That’s the photo in question. Take a good, hard look. See anything inappropriate yet? OK, see, Khloe posted the photo late on Friday, as a sort of tribute to Veteran’s Day . “Never too late for a late post,” she wrote. “Jacked his jacket.” So Khloe put on a bedazzled Army shirt, Tristan Thompson’s camouflage jacket, and decided it was a fitting way to publicly remember Veteran’s Day. Oh, Khloe … Not surprisingly, many people felt the need to express their outrage over Khloe’s disrespectfulness. Wow haha take that pt shirt off you’re not in the armed forces! Smh Put some pants on. You look ridiculous. No class whatsoever. Instead of wearing the army shirt just to wear why don’t you join or show some appreciation the fact that women and men have served this country just so you could wear their shirts and say “it’s his jacket” how about “happy Veteran’s Day” What a disgrace. Defacing government property. Take that shirt off, or join the army. HA! Who am I kidding, just take the shirt off. You didn’t earn that sh-t. You shouldn’t wear it. Pt shirts are meant to be worn by those who have earned it. It’s not a fashion statement. Can you and your family stop disrespecting the army by wearing our pt shirt. We’d appreciate it a lot…. -sincerely every army soldier in America. Some people may see this as cute, I see it as offensive. That shirt if part of a uniform for those who risk their lives. So disrespectful to those who fought the fight. Wtf is wrong with you? Trash at its finest. Khloe caught wind of all the hate — it must not have been that hard, all the comments on the photo were from people who were offended or people who thought she Photoshopped her thigh. (Or they’re criticizing her for flaunting her relationship with Tristan Thompson when she “stole” him away from Jordy Craig, the woman who’s pregnant with his baby , but that’s neither here nor there.) She posted this goofy photo: And added the caption “Good American. Y’all are funny. Always remember, Happy hoes ain’t hatin and hatin hoes ain’t happy!” So that’s cute. Instead of giving an intelligent, thoughtful response to people who were offended over something you did, just call them a bunch of “hatin hoes.” That’ll do the trick. El Chapo Guzman: Dead … or Not!

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was dead Thursday. Now he’s not. The Mexican drug boss apparently is alive and well, and probably laughing at thousands of Twitter users and even government officials who reported otherwise. He was never really dead , or even in peril, but the rumors of his demise started slowly on Thursday thanks to journalists in Guatemala and Mexico. An email exchange about an incident in the remote jungle region of El Peten that might have involved El Chapo began to permeate diplomatic circles. The Interior Minister of Guatemala told journalists that a firefight between drug dealers and the military had resulted in the death of two suspected criminals. “There was a clash between Guatemalan security forces in (the town of) San Francisco,” Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez said Thursday, adding, erroneously: “Two died. One of the deceased is physically very similar to El Chapo.” Cue the Twitter reports of El Chapo’s death, spreading like wildfire. Guatemalan newspaper Prensa Libre said at that point of the night, the government was getting ready to conduct forensics tests to identify the two corpses. Yet later on the same night, Guatemalan officials said they weren’t even sure that the supposed gunfight against the drug dealers had even occurred. Officials also said that military units were patrolling the area to see if they could find any signs of a gun battle between the army and drug traffickers. They did not. On Monday morning, after no El Chapo had been found, Lopez apologized for the government’s blunder on local radio station Emisoras Unidas. He said confusion arose because of over-reliance on testimonies of local villagers, who said that they had seen a clash between the army and drug traffickers. He said too many “contradictory” pieces of information came to officials at once, but Ioan Grillo, a journalist and drug war analyst, had another theory: “My reading of Chapo Guzman drama: a snitch called and said Chapo died in firefight,” Grillo tweeted. “Guatemala pleased with news tells before confirming.” Whatever happened, with regards to this most recent case, there is some reason to believe that El Chapo Guzman is in Guatemala at this time. WikiLeaks suggests that El Chapo is hiding in El Peten, where Mexican cartels have managed to gain a stronghold over drug trafficking routes. Previously US DEA officials have suggested that El Chapo hides in a mountain range in western Mexico, that straddles the states of Durango and Sinaloa. Stay tuned … and stay off Twitter for news.

Elsewhere In The World: Thousands Gather To Violently Protest The U.S. Embassy In Response To “Innocence Of Muslims”, Obama Effigy Burned!

This thing is gettin’ super ugly… Muslim People In Islamabad Gather To Protest “Innocence Of Muslims” According to the BBC/UK Demonstrators who gathered outside the US embassy in Islamabad to protest against an amateur video mocking Islam have begun to disperse peacefully. The Pakistani authorities had earlier called on the army as police struggled to contain the crowd of thousands with tear gas and live rounds. Some protesters had said they would not leave the diplomatic enclave until the US embassy was on fire. Protests over the film, Innocence of Muslims, have claimed several lives. It was made in the US and is said to insult the Prophet Muhammad. Streets leading to the enclave, where most of the embassies are housed, were earlier blocked off by shipping containers in an effort to increase security. Police had no control of the situation as angry protesters burned President Obama in effigy as people threw missles and other objects at authorites. One protester in particular was heard saying: “The infidel who produced the movie should be hanged, or hand over him to the Muslims. And we don’t want any (US) diplomat or embassy in Pakistan: all relations should be cut off.” Despite all the ire, the BBC correspondent says the protest appeared to end without incident. The BBC’s Aleem Maqbool in Islamabad, who did not see any evidence of the army at the scene, said the protest was “turned out like a light”. He said it was amazing, given the strength of feeling at the the protest earlier, that the crowd left as peacefully as it did. He says the area is still shrouded in tear gas. The Pakistani government has issued a national holiday for people to protest in peace, but how long will that “peace” really last when people are so angry??? Image via AP

Skinheads, Neo-Nazis & Gang Bangers Protect And Serve: Racism Running Rampant In The U.S. Military

Racism In The U.S. Military They call it “rahowa” — short for racial holy war — and they are preparing for it by joining the ranks of the world’s fiercest fighting machine, the U.S. military. White racists, neo-Nazis and skinhead groups encourage followers to enlist in the Army and Marine Corps to acquire the skills to overthrow what some call the ZOG — the Zionist Occupation Government. Get in, get trained and get out to brace for the coming race war. If this scenario seems like fantasy or bluster, civil rights organizations take it as deadly serious, especially given recent events. Former U.S. Army soldier Wade Page opened fire with a 9 mm handgun at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on August 5, murdering six people and critically wounding three before killing himself during a shootout with police. The U.S. Defense Department as well has stepped up efforts to purge violent racists from its ranks, earning praise from organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has tracked and exposed hate groups since the 1970s. Page, who was 40, was well known in the white supremacist music scene. In the early 2000s he told academic researcher Pete Simi that he became a neo-Nazi after joining the military in 1992. Fred Lucas, who served with him, said Page openly espoused his racist views until 1998, when he was demoted from sergeant to specialist, discharged and barred from re-enlistment. Experts have identified the presence of street gang members as a more widespread problem. Even so, the Pentagon has launched three major pushes in recent decades to crack down on racist extremists. The first directive was issued in 1986, when Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger ordered military personnel to reject supremacist organizations. That failed to stop former Marine T.J. Leyden, with two-inch SS bolts tattooed above his collar, from serving from 1988 to 1991 while openly supporting neo-Nazi causes. A member of the Hammerskin Nation, a skinhead group, he said he hung a swastika from his locker, taking it down only when his commander politely asked him to ahead of inspections by the commanding general. “We’re very strict on the tattoo policy here within this recruiting station,” said Sergeant Aaron Iskenderian, head of the Army recruiting office in Fayetteville, the Army town next to Fort Bragg. Iskenderian cited the example of a young man who came in recently with a tattoo of the Confederate flag. The potential recruit also told Iskenderian he had a black girlfriend. Iskenderian sent the issue up the chain of command, and the young man was rejected. Academics who study white supremacists say proponents of the “infiltration strategy” of joining the U.S. military have adapted, telling skinheads to deceive military recruiters by letting their hair grow, avoiding or covering tattoos, and suppressing their racist views. For neo-Nazis who get past the screeners, as with the gang members, the military needs a comprehensive strategy, said Carter F. Smith, a former military investigator who is now a professor of criminal justice at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. “They are some of the most disciplined soldiers we have. They really want to learn to shoot those weapons,” Smith said. “The problem wasn’t just that we were opening the floodgates to let them in. We let them out after prosecution or when their time was up and we didn’t let the police know.” SMH at the guy telling them he had a “black girlfriend”… Thoughts on this? Source
