Omar Mateen Identified As Pulse Nightclub Shooter The killer of 50 people in Orlando’s Pulse nightclub has been identified. Police report that 29-year-old Omar Mateen, a security officer, went on a rampage and shot over 100 people. TMZ reports: The killer in the Orlando nightclub slaughter is 29-year-old Omar Mateen. TMZ has done a records search and found he held a Florida security officer license and a state firearms license. He’s an American citizen and he has family that are not — his parents are Afghan. Authorities say he was a terrorist and was targeting gays. They say in addition to terrorism this is a hate crime. Authorities also believe he is part of the radical Islam movement, although they do not know if it was an organized attack or if he was a lone wolf. Law enforcement says he was well prepared, with an assault weapon, a handgun and 2 suspicious devices. 50 people were murdered and another 50 injured. Matten’s father has since said that religion did NOT play a part in his son’s rampage. Instead he said his son’s actions were prompted by his disapproval of homosexuality. Omar Mateen's father says suspect is married w/3-year-old son & “got very angry” when son saw 2 men kissing https://t.co/BbhaKrF7fw #Orlando — AM Joy w/Joy Reid (@amjoyshow) June 12, 2016 This is officially the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Joe Biden: Shotgun Beats Assault Rifle in Case of Earthquake!

Vice President Joe Biden really needs a reality show, as a recent White House petition called for. He gave Americans a glimpse of why Friday in a Google+ Hangout. The always-outspoken Veep (and possible 2016 election candidate) went off on a tangent on shotguns, assault rifles, and protecting yourself during an earthquake. Take a look: Joe Biden Shotgun Senate Democrats introduced their 2013 assault weapons ban earlier in the week, a controversial measure that faces an uncertain future in Congress. Among many fair questions about such a bill: How can you ban assault weapons when some people own them as a last line of defense, one G+ user asked. Joe says that’s no problem … since shotguns work better anyway. “A shotgun would keep you a lot safer – a double barrel shotgun – than the assault weapon in somebody’s hand who doesn’t know how to use it,” he says. While looking at the camera and pretending to clutch a shotgun. “You know. It’s harder to use an assault weapon to hit something than a shotgun. So, if you want to keep people away in an earthquake, buy some shotgun shells.” The more you know.

Tone-Loc Pleads No Contest To Domestic-Violence Charge

‘Wild Thing’ MC, also charged with possession of an assault weapon, sentenced to one day in county jail and three years of probation. By Gil Kaufman Tone-Loc Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images Three months after his arrest on weapons and domestic-violence charges, “Wild Thing” rapper Tone-Loc (born Anthony Smith) pleaded no contest to one count of possession of an assault weapon (a Colt AR-15 Sporter) and one count of corporal injury to his child’s mother. The 45-year-old Los Angeles MC, best known for late-’80s hits such as “Funky Cold Medina,” was arrested June 18 on suspicion of felony domestic violence following an alleged physical altercation with the mother of one of his children. Police did not reveal the name of the alleged victim, and Loc was released on $50,000 bail after three hours in jail. According to a release from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, Loc was sentenced to one day in county jail, three years of formal probation, 30 days of community service and 52 weeks of anger-management counseling by Burbank Superior Court Judge Patrick Hegarty. The D.A.’s office specified that the firearm was not used in the domestic assault, but that the investigation found the rapper in possession of an unregistered assault weapon. The rapper, who has dabbled in acting over the years, has recently become the subject of controversy thanks to his selection as the entertainment for Syracuse University’s upcoming Midnight Madness basketball celebration. The event, which will take place October 14, is intended to get students excited about the upcoming season. But one Yahoo! sports writer complained that the Loc selection was a poor replacement for other potential headliners such as New York-bred heavyweights Jay-Z or Nicki Minaj. Related Artists Tone-Loc
